Title: What is your Bitcoin Faith?
Post by: BreathOfZen on March 01, 2014, 07:45:50 PM
Hi everyone, there have been several Bitcoin beliefs swimming around the forums lately, so lets take a poll to see what those beliefs are. Also, if you have a belief different to the ones above, post em.

I believe in bitcoin jesus.  Thats my faith  ;D
Bitcoin is good but probably best to cold store rather then keep on exchanges (for long periods of time)

Yes indeed better to keep it safe. Online services are not 100% safe as we already know.

Using a centralized entity to hold bitcoins, like online wallets and exchanges is a serious threat to bitcoin.

People are plain stupid to do that and now, lesson learned with Gox. Don't get me wrong, I myself kept coins there too long.

well if someone is using cryptoexchange as a "cold" storage :) then it is not reasonable :)...
if you are a trader and you buy sell buy sell then I can understand it is easier for you to keep money @ exchange (but as we know it is not recommended)

:) Anyway... I was learned to not do that - to do not keep more that I can lose without a cry :P @ exchanges :)

there were many cases in a bitcoin history and mtgox isnt 1st exchange that suffered a problems.

We need decentralised exchanges.  Badly.

Mtcocks is a big fat "see - I told you so" symbol for the govts of China, India and Russia. Just because you didn't lose money and didn't like gox anyway doesn't mean it gets swept under the rug and on we go. I think there are going to be repercussions felt in the price and a rocky road ahead. And then there's almost a million coins noone knows what happened to. I hate to be so negative, but..

none of the above poll options. my faith in Bitcoin is unrelated to and detached from a single exchange

Wow, so far the results are three bulls for every one bear.  It looks like even with MtGox the majority opinion is a positive one.

sure it is. Because people here will not give up just because some shitty exchange bankrupt.

:)

There is something more in bitcoin than just MtGox.

I said it many times: there are going to be problems, there going to be more attacks, more people might loose their btc because of some malware etc.

This is normal.

And even with all of those crypto currencies will survive!

We need decentralised exchanges.  Badly.

Meanwhile ripple gets demonized with the largest western exchange actually early adopting it. Instead there are a bunch of dirty hacks aiming to collude the blockchain "just because" - which still don't work.
The hypocrisy in this community is stunning.
