Title: [2018-08-24] Another Japanese Company Developing 7nm Bitcoin Mining Equipment
Post by: ruthbabe on August 24, 2018, 05:54:17 AM
Besides GMO Internet, another Japanese company is working on producing 7nm mining equipment. Triple-1 has been working on its 7nm bitcoin mining chips and expects to start shipping the equipment in November, shortly after GMO expects to start shipping its 7nm miners.

Triple-1 Co. Ltd., a Japanese company established in November 2016 and headquartered in Fukuoka, engages in ASIC chip development and cryptocurrency mining farm construction. The company began looking into developing 7nm bitcoin mining chips in February last year. This week, Triple-1 confirmed that it has completed “the silicon wafer, the sample-chip, the sample-board and the prototype-unit of the mining [7nm] ASIC chip ‘Kamikaze.’” See more for yourself here (https://news.bitcoin.com/japanese-company-developing-7nm-bitcoin-mining-equipment/).

Well its about time that other players should enter the arena. We all know that Bitmain has total monopoly of bitcoin mining hardware so it will be good if they see some competition behind. What's makes its more interesting is that Bitmain is enforcing KYC which may sway a lot of potential buyers to look for alternatives like GMO and Triple-1. And we all know that Japan has far more advance in terms or technology so I'm sure that those bitcoin mining gear they developing can match or even surpassed that on Bitmain in terms of efficiency and cost.

This is an article repeatedly squished by Bitmain but here it is to stay.

Something of an agenda no doubt but the TLDR is that Bitmain have blown it, for now at least. Interested to see if they pull it back or whether they fade away.

I wonder why Bitmain does not have 7nm out now.
