Title: [ANN][FRAG] FRAGCOIN -- SHA3-CPU -- COMPETITIVE GAMING CRYPTOCURRENCY
Post by: fragcoin on March 02, 2014, 12:18:03 PM

http://fragcoin.com/ (http://fragcoin.com/)

Fragcoin Pre-release announcement!

We are a well organized and competent development team and have been hard at work over the last 2 months.

This coin has a brand new, CPU only, implementation of an SHA-3 contender algorithm.

It's a new, clean coding - no SHA2 legacy pieces like other SHA-3 coins.

We have a new mining program and new stratum for pools. We'll have a custom GUI miner to make it easy for new people (GAMERS!) to get involved.

Coin betting integration with some popular games is being programmed right now, and we're building a website to host tournaments with Fragcoin prizes.

Right now, we can't give too many details.

Check this thread and subscribe at the site for updates!

We'll be done when its ready... but sooner rather than later. Advance notice of at least 1 week will be given here, and to email subscribers.

Here's our fresh-off-the-renderer teaser/intro video!!

If you're a pool operator, or would like to discuss services / promotion for Fragcoin, please email us at fragcoin@gmail.com ... Thanks!

Edit: Temporarily on hold. Because of concerns from the community, we're considering using a different algorithm. We'll update this thread and create a new one when the decision is made. Thanks for the interest and ideas.

This coin has a brand new, CPU only, implementation of an SHA-3 contender algorithm.

You think so? How can it be CPU-only?

Right now, it's CPU only, because it hasn't been implemented in GPU. The modified SHA3 implementation has been a pet project of one of the devs, and he's working on making it stay CPU only.

If it can't be done, we're considering switching to using X11 as a proof-of-work algorithm.

This coin will be done properly, don't worry! :)

The coin creator has a GPU miner that will (or will not) be released after he insta-mined a huge amount of coins.

google for "keccak cgminer"

Haters. There are a lot more SHA3 contenders than keccak.

You didn't say "SHA3 finalist", you said SHA3.

I said SHA3 contender, not even necessarily a finalist, in the original post. Whats with the instant attacks and this other guy putting bright red misinformation on something we have been putting serious work into?

Also, like I mentioned earlier, a change to the X11 switching algo is being considered, especially with shitty allegations popping up already.

Didn't read that closely.  But seriously, it does not take many minutes to code cgminer support (I presume, I don't have powerful GPUs to play with).
darkcoin's routine is just a messy hack and it doesn't use that much RAM (but does use AES-NI), why do you think it's "CPU-only" or something?

There is a GPU miner for X11

I was just doing the post... but I'm going to speak the developer. He seemed to have a reason it would stay CPU only.

Because of the initial concern from the community, I'm considering forking this off Darkcoin, with its CPU and GPU miners, instead.

sph-sgminer seems to be doing 2500 khash/s (X11) on Radeon R9 290 (700 USD, 250 W), whereas a 300 USD CPU can probably get 500 khash/s.
not sure if there's room for optimization in sph-sgminer with X11.

Sincerely , you talk like you don't have a damn clue about it.
Can you make your mind about what kind of shit clone you're releasing?
