Hey guys! We've made an simple guide on how to mine Sia Coin using graphic cards.
We are using nVidia graphic cards, so on another cards it probably will not work.

Seriously mate? Just wake up from coma? I'd use ASIC for Siacoin.

I think the money that you earn from this not enough to buy a new computer. If you would like to become a miner, you should use a specific device for mining.

I don't know how profitable or not using graphic cards for sia now but ASIC is really profitable. Sia is also very good project but it can't compete with centralized ones now for me.

It is a guide for beginners who can not afford ASICs and who want to know what is going on with these mining rigs.

This is a great tutorial and I will study more of it to learn more on how to mine sia coin using graphic card, mining coins is a venture I will like to be involve in the near future. thanks for sharing with the community.

I suggest you to move this topic to the altcoin mining section to have the related discussion,but as others said the ASIC mining is profitable for Siacoin but if someone have the graphics card wothout any use then they can try mining that and store them for the future use because Siacoin is one of the coin believed by many people to go to moon.

But I also agree with a few comments above, maybe too late to make that tutorial, it will worth if you write it before SIA's ASIC exist (but may not, if it only for beginners guideline). But still will be better to make something relevant, e.g., some tutorial to mine any coins that still worth using the device that used on the tutorials that you made.

Bitmain asic was blocked via fork?

As far as i know any plans by the SIA dev team to block bitmain is only plans. I'm actually quite disappointed with the slow speed of the SIA dev team to do anything. Most likely others feel the same way and is the reason is slowly going down in value.

If SIA still wants to be relevant in crypto then it better make some changes soon.

I've had to double check a few times the year when the OP made this post and since its "2018" it makes absolutely no sense to mine SC with GPUs now. Its basically all dominated by ASICs. Even with free electric its not worth the extra heat of dual-mining SC.

SC was worth mining back in 2016 before there was pools and you were forced to solo mine it , when you found a block you got like 250,000 SC.

Second time when it was worth mining was in June 2017 by dual mining it with ETH, I think with an RX 480, you could of made an extra $2/day/per GPU on top of your regular ETH mining income.

Now it doesn't make any more sense to mine SC. No idea why this guide was even created.

This. Used to be a neat little extra to dual mine, but now you may as well heat the room by burning fiat of your choice instead of mining sia...

Can we do it with AMD rx series ?

You can. But CCMiner (the one used in the guide) only works with Nvidia cards. For AMD cards, you will either need to download SGMiner for Windows (https://siamining.com/files/sgminer-xurious-wolf-win32.zip) or GoMiner (https://github.com/robvanmieghem/gominer/releases).

Those are the command line examples for each one of them:

./sgminer --algorithm=sia --url=stratum+tcp://us-east.siamining.com:3333 --userpass=YourSiacoinAddress.WorkerName -I 28
./gominer -url stratum+tcp://us-east.siamining.com:3333 -user YourSiacoinAddress.WorkerName

Newbies' will appreciate the help but, make a little more research before adding an article to your site.
Like this one which could lead beginners out of Bitcointalk to actually mine SiaCoin using their GPU miners.

Like I said before, not everyone have enough money to buy ASIC's, so they can TRY this, using graphic cards  ::)

But the problems are, you will bring the people who can't buy an ASICs (I assume that they were doing mining for their life - for some profit) for doing what's on your guide. Then as I said before, will be better made a relevant guide for them. Something makes sense to do than this:

Yeah, tutorial for mining SIA with graphic card should be something like this:

1. Take out graphic card(s)
2. Sell graphic card(s)
3. Buy ASIC (A1 or Obelisk)
4. Connect and power on ASIC
5. Configure ASIC with pool and wallet address
6. (Maybe) profit.

You could make this more dramatic, create some space from point (1), And then the best part should start from a point (2). By the way, big thank buddy to make this day awesome!  ;)

Yea, that one is pretty fast and dand it does not cost too much  :)

And tomorrow all ASICs except Obelisks will transform to the Halloween Pumpkins.

Difficulty is very high already, it is not profitable with GPU now.

As it was expected...one Obelisk mines as 1000 gpus, and I think 8000 of them are sold...

If there existed software miner supporting Siacoin, then it would be good to turn on dual mining., Network difficulty dropped by 98% after hardfork I think that it would be possible to earn something even on video cards with such difficulty.

If you consider 29 sia coins with 6 RX580 graphic cards "possible to earn something" then you're right, I guess...but have to deduct
some cost of additional electric power from that
