Title: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: darklus123 on August 29, 2018, 01:51:22 AM I was always been hesitant in terms of mining bitcoin because I only uses my gpu for mining.
Tho recently I have discovered that monero can be easily mined using gpu than other coins since it does not used ASIC. I just want to learn more about it if it would really be beneficial in my end. Here is my current cpu spec. 8gb ram i3 7th gen processor 1050ti gpu. Base on your estimation how much monero coin can I mine for that specs per day Disregard the current cost for electricity for i will be gathering more infos about it in my place. It fluxes and the average is 65-70 it is a thread ripper cpu about 800 2 1050ti's about 440 as I down clock 1 rx 560 about 270 so when really clicking I get close to 1500 and 99 cents you will be doing 150 on the cpu and 300 on the gpu = 450 say 26 cents a day and that is at best. Shocks, I have to understand more about your computation. Did you compute based on my specs or yours since you have stated that you used 2 1050ti's What certain site or tools where you mine monero? EDITED: I kinda get what are you talking about so basically i will be getting less than 1usd per day for 24hrs of mining using that spec right? Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Are you for real or are you just spamming your signature? I'll give you the benefit of the doubt but you gotta be pretty stupid to not see what staring you right in the face. You should really try and use google to search for answers to basic questions. One has no business mining if one can't do research because making a profit from mining requires diligent research. You can't just ask everything on a forum and expect good profits if any at all. Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Plus don't reply to a topic if you don't have something to contribute. If you have a problem with me then go to the right board. Looks who is trolling around here just to keep his Ico shitcoin seen. I was also given a decent answer with the guy above that helps me more than your trolling does. If you think that google have all the right answer then you are more stupid. Whats the sole purpose of having a forum for us to discuss pretty smart you are right? If you think that being a savage can make you look smart then you really are pretty stupid Asking is a part of my research it isn't it obvious? Plus i would rather get the real info from a real miner than reading an article from whoever bloggers that can be found in googling who actually doesn't have an idea what they are actually saying. If I was you I would mine something else then XMR. The profit sucks. I mined XMR also but there were minimal profits. You can take the topic What coins are CPU minable. If it is CPU minable it is also good with the GPU. You can take a look at: Nimiq and Credits. There are more coins that you can minable with your CPU/GPU. But that will do some research. I have never mined monero for 7 months, so far I only mine (ETH, ETC) sometimes SoloMining Shitcoin with my rig (RX series: 480,580) and R9 series Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: philipma1957 on August 30, 2018, 11:37:33 AM My xmr rig
https://www.nicehash.com/miner/1JdC6Xg3ajT3rge3FgPNSYYFpmf53Vbtje 1 ryzen thread ripper 1920x 2 1050ti's 1 rx 560 about 1500 hash I burn 240 watts to earn about 1.15 a day at 10 cent power that is about 57 to 60 cents in power cost net 58 cents my rig cost more then 1500 usd do the math close to 3000 days to pay itself off. but it is paid off when times were good. So for me it pays to make the 58 cents profit 1 1050ti about 300 hash 1 i7 cpu about 150 hash 450 total hash and you will spend close to 80 -110 watts or 20 to 30 cents in power earning 37 cents so 7 to 17 cents profit but profit none the less. Since you own the gear. I also use my threadripper to develop gear. I am running a fpga some videos. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yle13b1kgWo&lc=z23etrlgxmmwgf3tqacdp430p5j21bb2e1d3ovmwgx1w03c010c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_bet2aRAhvw so the rig is making 50 cents but allows for testing other gear. I will definitely try your second suggestion ~ Great I was just starting today by the way what miner are you using the xmr stack? What makes it wrong by the way? except mine are locked into 1 algo cn7 i don't use switching option. and I use xmr from GitHub to mine I point at nicehash for now. As that rig is paid off and will soon be changed around. As it is a developmental rig. FloppyPurpleGherkin looks at coins in a different manner then I do. We use different styles to mine for a profit. Yes here is a different rig mining eth and cn7 https://www.nicehash.com/miner/146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3 this has 3 1080ti's they mine eth a ryzen 2700 cpu it mines cn7 this rig earns 4 a day power is 600 watts or 15k-watts at 10 cents that is 1.50 so it profits 2.50 a day it cost more then 2500 usd to build do the math it would take more then 1000 days to pay off but it is paid off from when times were good. so I take the 2.50 a day. I also mine btg and hodl it I have about 16 coins I earn about .333 coins a day which is around 7 dollars I spend about 36kwatts a day to mine them or 3.60 my long term is to mine 100 coins and hodl I make about 3.40 usd a day on this coin. So I am earning under 7 dollars a day on my gpus. I was earning more then 400 a day last december. Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: aneukpidie on August 31, 2018, 04:40:21 AM Monero is one of the few cryptocurrency that can still be mined using a CPU; however, the GPU can provide significant and often more valuable performance improvements.
GPU mining on Linux vs. Windows and Mac Windows has excellent support for Nvidia and AMD GPUs. Drivers are available, configuration software works fine, and overclocking is quite simple. Mining using Windows with GPU is an excellent choice with purchased Windows licenses, experience in the Windows environment, and the availability of GUI-based settings. Mac also has strong support for Nvidia and AMD GPUs. Hardware is often more expensive, but if it is available, it can be easily remade to mine Monero. Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? i3 is waste of money. You won't mine enough for ROI anyway pretty much every newer Celeron is enough for 6 GPUs even more. All other coins are invaded by ASICS , while the Monero developers when ASICS hit the market immediately change their algorithm to V7 in order to give power to the users and keep the Monero coin as decentralised as possible.
The best cards to mine with are the Rx Vega series which with modified bios will give you 2000 h/s per card, so a rig with 6 cards will give you 12.000 h/s or 1.20 mBTC daily or about 9 USD daily. Calculations done in Nicehash. Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? BTG may be good for nvidia 1080ti they did fork and say they will fork again ETH is okay for a 1080ti rig if you have the eth pill and rig was paid up already Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: Mattthev on September 02, 2018, 11:31:40 AM If you want to try mining you can buy some used cheap mobo with Skylake or newer Celeron and RX460/560 4GB or even 2GB for Monero, it won't cost much. Or if you want it even cheaper and don't much care about power consumption you can grab some old Core 2 DUO desktop from ebay or even i3, i5, is cost like 50-75 USD but watch for PSU it has to be enough for at least one GPU card or you need to buy better one. Connect GPU and you can happily mine with very cheap rig.

Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: playfast on September 02, 2018, 03:30:20 PM I have small rx 560 2gb rig.
XMR is the only thing I'm mining now, profits are small but consistent and power draw/temps are lower than Ethash. Ethash algo is pretty much dead for me, I see no small DAG coins that are worth mining except maybe Ether-1. Not sure if I want to throw my rig at it yet. Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? That is the exact reason why I became interested in mining since the developers are working to keep this coin as decentralized as possible so everyone can mine small time or big time around the world. ~ Your rx rig consists of how many gpus btw? and how much are you getting from that rig Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: OneBlockAway on September 03, 2018, 02:09:41 PM I'm too very new to Mining and as my first mining, I choose Monero. So far not much profitable.
I tried to switch to Bitcoin private and ETH classic to see the difference but the earnings were way too low compared to Monero. So switched back. Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: john1010 on September 03, 2018, 03:48:38 PM Monero, eth and other algo mining with gpu now is not profitable, I have 20GPU but when I look my daily income in the mining calculator (whattomine) I can get $6 only. expect the flood of 2nd hand gpu now in some online store.. It's better to buy a low price coin now than addning more gpu to your miner.

Most of the shitcoins are just a total waste of money as well Update: current power 375h/s Around 300h/s for my 1050ti - xmrig miner i3 7th gen = 75h/s - JcE miner Title: Re: Monero GPU mining, is it worth it? Post by: jillscarbrough on September 05, 2018, 05:49:11 AM not all shitcoin is waste of money, if you want to mine those coins should careful predictions and calculations starting from the Diff of the coin, Network of the coin and your hashrate also can prediction price of those coins. For now, I often solo mining of shitcoin. this is one of which
