Actually, I don't know any asset in waves that really become successful. Eth platform has the chance to make it big, if the dev team is really working hard. I know, it's very easy to create a waves asset but even if you are running airdrop, do you think people will use your asset? I don't want to discriminate the waves tokens but you are correct. I can't remember any wave based tokens that became a hit except to the waves itself compare to ER20 tokens.
