Hi
I am re-seller for the Grid Seed miners.
I have completed a Group Buy of 50 miners. All details are present in same thread.
A group buy takes long waiting , in which buyers have to wait for a number of orders to be fulfilled and buy in bulk to get reduced prices.
A better solution is low prices for everyone and ready to ship. So you get the low prices of a GB and do not have to wait.
My arrangement with Grid Seeds sellers makes this possible so you get lower prices.
Prices are reduced as introductory offer.

I'm in Toronto.  Considering getting some Gridseed stuff.

I've been looking at the group buy's with the full kits.  ie: when you buy a 10-pack, you get the kits with controllers, power supplies, power cables, usb hubs, and of course the miners.

If you'e looking at that kind of setup, I'd be interested.

I'm in Vancouver, possibly interested in grabbing 10pcs.

What's the current offer on accessories? Honestly I only really need a power-connector tail so I can wire it up, everything else I intend to source on my own. USB cables and hubs would be nice to have though.

Personally, I'm more interested in seeing harder-to-find items included:

Those barrel plugs/tails are probably a bit of a bitch to source.
Large USB hubs are not terribly commonplace.
The controllers are uncommon, though from all accounts they're also garbage. I'm intending to use a Raspberry Pi, which is readily sourced.
The power supplies are generic, and a mixed bag. I'm intending to just wire mine up to a good PC power supply.

This bloke over here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=496984.0) has some awesome looking screw-terminal barrel plugs. I've asked in his thread if he'd care to share his source.

The first ones are the right idea, but aren't the right connector for these units.

Looking around suggests the "correct" size is 2.5mm x 5.5mm, though many are reporting that 2.1mm x 5.5mm plugs do work. By that standard, these (http://www.amazon.com/2-1mm-5-5mm-Male-Power-Adapter/dp/B002QWNZHU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1394014043&sr=8-1&keywords=barrel+plug+terminal) should work, though they are not ideal.

These (http://www.ebay.com/itm/100pcs-5-5-x-2-5mm-CCTV-DC-Power-Male-Jack-Plug-Connector-Tip-/161030625012) are the correct size, I think...

The second one honestly doesn't look useful at all. That would require your power supply to have that little 4-pin connector on it, which will never happen.

Hey there:

Willing to cancel my order of ten  (LA3M) with other GB and order from you, pending your confirmation of the following:

A) it's a full kit with controller, all cables, USB hub, etc. basically everything in the LA3M pkg.

Gridseed Miner Package - Each package contains:
10 X Gridseed 5 chip dual miners
1 X Controller
3 x 12V 30A DC industrial power supply
1 x 10p Usb hub
12 x 2.5mm DC power cables
10 x Usb mini data cables
1 x 1A usb micro power cable
1 x Network cable
4 x Country power adaptor (AU, EU, US)

B) 205 in CAD, or USD?  If so, is this a total of 2050 CAD or USD, etc. Is there any discount for orders of ten or more--even $50.00 or so?

C) who are you using as escrow?

B) 205 CAD. Bitstamp for reference price.
C) I have no experience with escrow. I am ready to share info about me.
And do escrow. I was hoping that once we have enough orders. All the buyers could escrow from a single reputed person and you could also save on escrow fees.

I feel the need to quickly clarify - those plugs allow the device to be wired to any power supply - not specifically to PC power supplies. No matter what kind of power supply someone has, if they receive just the bare miner with no barrel connector they will need to source a barrel plug to be able to wire it up.

Hi Karanveer,

Sorry didn't get time to check PM's.  I can do paypal as another member said here.  I would pay the fees no problem and in CAD right?  Once you have enough people to make the quota please contact me and send an invoice through paypal and I will pay you at once,  thanks!

Yes it can.
Controller helps so that u dont have to have a system running and u can place them where u want.
Ppl also use raspberry pi for such things

No skyhawk. If I start splitting the price then its going to be an issue.
Escrow can be done. John K is reputed ,..he charges 2% of the transaction.
how r u planning to pay?

That said, don't get the controller from supplier and order raspberry pis instead. Is that possible? All sorts of reports of the instability of the supplied controller going around....

Im sorry dyland. If I had know of this before I surely would have tried.
As you know this GB started only for the miner, no accessories .
But since you and all buyers were ordering 10 pack and needed the entire kit.
I kept pestering the seller to do that, so I hope u understand that I cannot make changes now.
But I am sure we can work it out in some way.
Check ur PM

No worries at all.

the controllers aren't horrible, mind you, but they are not great either. They've been getting the job done for some people, but the general report on them is to ditch for something else.

Your price is still head and shoulders above what else is out there, and if you're in Canada, even better.

I would still like you to confirm and itemize what you provide in the kit on your opening page, though. That would be nice.

Yes, a clear itemization of what I am getting for my money would help with my confidence.  A nicely itemized page like atari02's would go a long way for this group buy .

The pictures you added are very helpful and were a great confidence builder.

I want to buy from you, you seem really eager to start a reputation.  Just need that little reassurance that I'm doing the right thing.

Yes I am looking to get some reputation.
I am able to offer such prices as I am quoting you the same price as of the seller.
Thus GB is just work.
And yes the pictures show the miners with my name so that u know that the I have secured the seller. And as usually the pictures in gb describe these miners are not in my hand. They r with seller and we have reached to a confirmation that he's going to allot so many miners to me. The reason for this is to save on shipping. Like the seller ships to me and I ship back to u.
And I have added the accessories kit details below the payments table. If you need a picture I can get that too.
Any queries ,suggestions and doubts please feel free to ask.

Unfortunately this buy no longer makes sense for me, as most of the cost of the accessory kit is junk I'll have no use for (powersupplies, controller). I was initially interested due to the expected cost of $205CAD per miner.

I think I'm going to have to bow out. Best of luck!

I did start the GB for just the miner. But then there were requests for controller, accessories so I got the best price for that.Assuring the seller that most buyer want 10 packs and he needs to give us a better price. May be the next GB we can make it as an option. Cost of accessory kit is not junk. The power supplies you are getting are 35 dollars on newegg. Il PM skyhawk once i get a seller for individual miners.

You won't please everyone.

Here's the thing:

At $205CAD per miner people who have some technical acumen see the value because they will source the extra parts themselves-probably totaling about $225CAD per miner if they need all peripherals in the first place.

At $228USD per miner, this is about $250CAD per miner, with accessories that quite a few people find less effective than sourcing on their own.

Anyway, I don't want to go around collecting stuff and prefer a package, so I'm cool with it. But yeah, next one, we should have a strategy with peripherals.

Yes dyland I understand. And the thing is it was 205 cad + shipping. And the one we have now is with shipping. Thus the extra money.

Is there only 18 units left? I was hoping to buy 20. But maybe I can set it up for one to use 8 miners an the other to use 10. Some mentioned stability issues with the Wii controller am I better off with two raspberry pi devices then in this case? I'm from the UK I can pay today let me know the situation.

Yes shipping is by EMS.
Got funds from paypal to bank. Only one person has paid using some different e cheque and his payment is still pending. That doesn't matter.
Direct deposit from Bank to exchange is 2-3 days. So looking for 1 day deposit option, and talking to exchange ppl. Dont want to deposit cash at the Bitcoin ATM. So either way, maximum wait to pay seller is 3 days and will ship the 4th day. So we r ahead of expected shipping date.
Thanks all for being patient Will post in main page if any updates.
Feel free to PM me.

Hi Karanveer:

I want to be certain of something with respect to your email:

Is this getting a) received by your first or b) shipped direct to my address?

If it is going straight to my address, it really needs to be marked as $60.00 or less and marked as a gift, as we pay 13% of the cost in import duties in Canada over this amount.

With an import duty of ~$500.00 on this as it is not originating on a NAFTA country, you might have a bunch of unhappy people in this group buy if you don't address this as they are expecting this to be a all-in cost including shipping.

Shipping by EMS reduces chance of tax.
And price quoted will be as less as possible.

Mine came in today as well.  No duty :)

Set it up in about 1 hour, however I trashed the controller and used my RPi with Scripta.  Works like a charm.

Currently running at 850, but I will try 900.  We don't need fans right?  I can remove them if I am only running Scrypt I think.  Cut down on noise and save energy.

I just followed this guide: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482352.msg5305449#msg5305449

step by step.  At step 6, I did the fix at the bottom of the same post.

At 900, I had 3 units that were throwing errors.  All miners are 0% errors at 850 though..

when you get your Pi, I'll walk you through it in PM.

You can start by downloading the Scripta image in the post and W32DiskImager.
Use the diskimager program to write the scripta image to the SD card.

When I booted my Pi, I used an IP scanner to find what IP my DHCP server gave it and used my browser to connect.  http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com

I had to back mine off to 850 as well.  888 also had a lot of hw errors, so I'm going to try something like 865 and see how that goes.

If anyone removes the fans, please post if the hardware errors go up.  Right now each unit is drawing about 8 watts, hopefully the fan isn't really needed.

I removed the fans to reduce the noise and the amount of space required.   I'm also running everything off one power supply.

After running for several hours half have zero hardware errors, and the other half all have less than 10.  I'm running at 850 MHz and I just have the one case fan pointing at the two stacks.  Without the fan the heatsinks started to get pretty warm but with the single fan they are all cool now.

Removed all but 2 of my fans.  Think I'll get rid of one of the Power Supplies next and follow melmo's lead and remove all fans and have a larger fan pointing at the stacks.

How well does that configuration work with the single fan on top of each stack?  If you lift up the top 4 units and touch the bottom one, is it cool to the touch?

Stacking like this really saves a lot of space... I think I have room for 10 more, but I'm not sure if I have the cash for them :)

You'll need to remove the fan screws on the top, remove the screws on the botton that hold the 2 heatsinks together, then use a soldering iron with a small tip to remove the + and - wires from the circuit board.  They are easy to remove, just touch the joint with the iron and the wires will pop off.

Temps are fine, I'm still getting 0% HW errors.  Note only do this if you plan to run the units in Scrypt mode only.  If you run in SHA256, you will need the fans!

A couple of tips:  I noticed that the power supply has a switch on the side to select voltage.  I had been running with it set to 220V, and was only pulling 58 watts from the wall.  It was pretty stable like this at 850 MHz so I measured the voltage on one of the plugs and the power supply was only providing 10.8 volts.  After switching to 110V, I was reading 11.9 volts and power usage went up about 10 watts.

After doing the voltage mod, I'm running stable at 401 Kh/s and pulling 82 watts at the wall for my 10 units.

For the voltage mod, are you just bridging the pads with solder, or are you adding some resistance?

Also, from your last post, am I correct in assuming you are running the PS at 220 for the savings?  I don't think mine powered on at 220V

Thanks melmo

Sorry, I don't think I would trust myself to work on someone else's units because I'd be afraid of frying it.  Those solder pads are surprisingly small - I almost didn't do the mod because I was shocked at how tiny they were.

I tried bridging the pads with solder, but that wasn't happening so I used some very fine wire.  Tin the end of the wire with some solder, dip in some flux and solder to the pads, then trim.  I found some stranded wire and then used single strands - that's how tiny the pads are.

I'm running the PS at 110V now.  The 10 watt saving is nothing compared the other power-guzzlers I have :)

Thanks melmo,

I tried it on one unit prety much exactly how you said.  I have a lot of 30gauge wire lying around from wire wrapping projects.  My hands shake kinda bad, but was still able to do it without any damage.  The magnafier lamp was a huge asset.

I'll tackle the rest of them tonight.

Here's my single modified unit running.

Maybe I should fire up my Raspberry Pi.

It uses a special version of cgminer.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=482352.msg5305449#msg5305449

I've set the frequency at 950 by editing the miner-start.sh file.

Set it up in about 1 hour, however I trashed the controller and used my RPi with Scripta.  Works like a charm.

I've been running Scripta since I received my miners.  There was one incident when the devices were not showing and I had to reboot, but it has been solid for me the rest of the time.

Does the overvolting work with wheezy too?

I payed and a week later I had my stuff.. all is well.. good honest Canadian Seller.  Very pleased with that aspect.. pictures and an update to follow once i have time.

Sure, the overclocking/overvolting is a hardware mod, plus a frequency change in the cgminer startup line

sudo /usr/bin/screen -dmS cgminer /opt/minepeon/bin/cgminer --scrypt --no-submit-stale --gridseed-options=baud=115200,freq=950

I've been running Scripta since I received my miners.  There was one incident when the devices were not showing and I had to reboot, but it has been solid for me the rest of the time.

All hashing away.. I am hoping someone comes out with a nice windows program to detect and possibly mine both scrypt/sha easily.. i had a little trouble with cgminer.. what i did was download the modified cgminer and have it running.. then one by one you have to plug in the grids to the usb and wait for the "hotplug" in it to detect them... small pain but works none the less..all hashing at 850mhz @ 361.7kh/s.. stable overnight so far.  Getting a few HW errors..but not many.

*Update..
I was able to navigate the wiibox website (chinese - its all in chinese!.. even wiibox local configuration) and get my wiibox controller updated (came as v1.7 and updated to v2.07 - couldn't do anything with it till i fully updated it).. I am now successfully dual mining.. seems ok .. just one incident in 24 hours of one of the grids seemed to lose its connection to controller overnight : Remedy - reseat its usb connection on the hub.. not sure if this is a usb hub problem or controller problem.. i did not have to restart the mining or anything.. it was just instantly detected and started mining.. i also blew a fuse (too many video cards in one room) and the wiibox and grids.. powered back up and started mining again all by themselves without me doing anything after I reset the breaker. (took about 2 minutes before I could tell they were mining again) Just wanted to say that with firmware update and a bit of patience and translation these work as stated with everything that came in the box.

One of the buyers is facing this problem. Can anybody help?

Everytime i try plugging in the USB i get the following bubble message,

"One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"

I checked further into the unknown device on device manager properties and the following error shows below,

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"

I have tried this single miner on three different laptops and a desktop, using zadig and without using zadig. This is the only miner giving me problems. The green light flashes on it so i know its getting power but it is not working.

Yes, my order came with a 2 spare USB-grid cables .. i imagine its for that exact reason .. in case of a bad cable.. try a different cable..good advice.. all mine have worked accordingly but nice to know there were spares in my order!  Not sure what your setup is but that is one of the first steps in troubleshooting device failure.

Edit: did you get these through Alex Hyunh (atari)? If so, please tell him to send me out correct power ASAP. I can also contact.

If you can find out if no accessories is possible that would be great.  I have all the accessories and prefer to power it with ATX vs the DC supplies that come with it.  Also do you still guarantee the no import tax on the blade as well?
