Title: how can I get a copy of the original source (0.1.0)? Post by: Blinken on October 25, 2011, 03:27:22 PM Hi, how can I get a copy of the original Bitcoin rar distributed Fri, 09 Jan 2009?
Originally this was posted at: http://downloads.sourceforge.net/bitcoin/bitcoin-0.1.0.rar This link is no longer valid. Title: Re: how can I get a copy of the original source (0.1.0)? Post by: dogisland on October 25, 2011, 03:52:21 PM The commits on Github go back to August 2009 so you might be able to get it there.

This is the first instance of Bitcoin.org in the Internet Archive: http://web.archive.org/web/20090131115053/http://bitcoin.org/ edit... nevermind, this is the first, and it lists 0.1.3: http://web.archive.org/web/20090131115053/http://bitcoin.org/ Title: Re: how can I get a copy of the original source (0.1.0)? I want 21 million bitcoins to magically appear in my wallet. Unfortunately I don't think either is going to happen. Title: Re: how can I get a copy of the original source (0.1.0)? Post by: terrytibbs on October 25, 2011, 05:44:14 PM I've still got 0.1.3, if that's of any interest to you.
Title: Re: how can I get a copy of the original source (0.1.0)? Post by: wareen on October 25, 2011, 08:23:36 PM According to this site (http://www.olis.or.kr/ossw/project/releaseList.do?pid=72520&gid=113309), the file bitcoin-0.1.3.rar (http://www.f1cd.ru/soft/base/b/bitcoin/bitcoin_013_alpha/bitcoin-0.1.3.rar) was released only 4 days after bitcoin-0.1.0.rar and has the same filesize.
According to this sourceforge page (http://en.sourceforge.jp/projects/sfnet_bitcoin/downloads/Bitcoin/bitcoin-0.1.0/bitcoin-0.1.0.rar/), both files also have the same md5sum, which is a bit surprising, because the included readme contains the version number "BitCoin v0.1.3 ALPHA". It seems, the 0.1.0 rar was retroactively replaced with the 0.1.3 rar (brown-paper-bag bug?) You can probably consider this the original release for all practical purposes.
