Title: What do you think of Arbitrage Opportunity platforms?
Post by: Aveatrex on August 31, 2018, 06:48:09 PM
Yo everyone,
There is multiple platforms/websites that list arbitrage opportunities and calculate the profit that can be made, some even state a tutorial on how to perform specific ones on specific exchanges etc..
Has anyone ever tried trusting does and made soem profit?
Share your experience  ;)

Back then Im an enthusiast of arbitrage system wherein fees and confirmation time isn't really a factor. It's really time consuming since my approach is manual and that is the basic approach. From exchange comparison to execution, overall it was an interesting activity back then.

But today I rarely see people doing arbitrage and surely it was because of fees, confirmation time and the service of the exchange itself. At some of the cases, exchanges does have a delays in deposits and withdrawals

I believed in today's arbitrage system, there are platforms available now where doing arbitrage is automatic. I also see some ICO projects who have that kind of feature but Im not sure if their service goes live now.

This. Because of these problems arbitrage is hard to pull off in practice. Even if you manage to find coins to trade. This part about finding suitable coins is not hard. You can use bots to make it automatic. But, when you go to trade the coins you have found, somewhere along the way you get stuck. On the fees, on the withdrawal times, or on something else. Maybe I'm wrong, but do you know anybody who uses arbitrage for crypto successfuly?

I've never used it, I think it's too risky for my trade. or maybe I become a coward now. this is a difficult situation for a trader.
but maybe this should be tried and that requires courage.

I didn't use such platforms. But there are sites where you can see prices on different exchanges for certain coins. Sometimes I use them.
Before using any such platform or site, I would recommend that you learn about arbitrage. There are several types of arbitrage and each has its own specificity. All these moments need to be known and well understood and only then, it is possible to use the help of such platforms.

withdrawal fee and transaction time (withdraw process + network + deposit confirmation)
those factors will eat out possible profit from arbitrage price
even when the withdrawal transaction time is fast, at least you need to wait ~10mins
in that 10 minutes a lot can happen and we may miss the arbitrage opportunity
and a few exchanges set their withdrawal fee high to discourage arbitrage players

Do these sites/services charge for info or guarantee some sort of profit?

Real arbitrage will not last long. Any premium would be quickly flattened. No one leaves free money on the table for long. An obvious and achievable opportunity might only last a few minutes.

Any premium that's long established is because of some elements of friction that has stuck around.

Arbitration between exchanges, this is a very dangerous occupation. Exchanges control everything from enrollment to dispatch. Often you can find a skewed price, this is the invitation of arbitrage traders, but this is usually a trap. I do not advise you to spend your time and nerves on it.

I used to make good money with arbitrage back in 2014-2015 with alts.

Basically exchanges like Cryptsty (RIP), Mintpal (RIP), and Poloniex were all big with alts. And there was 2-3% artibtrage opportunites all the time.

You would either buy the coin, attempt a withdraw and hope it confirms ontime with the other exchanges or you would just keep the alt on both exchanges to trade back and forth. Was pretty profitable.

Then everybody started using API with their fancy bots and the profits were gone. No longer could you manually do arbitrage by hand.

Thanks for explaining how it used to be done. I was wondering about it, because nowadays everyone is talking about arbitrage, but I don't see anyone actually doing it. In any case, you confirm my suspicion that there is no profit if you are doing it by hand. The market now is larger and more established, and bots have taken over. But even with bots, I reckon, it's risky and hard to make money. And when you make a move and buy or sell, you are affecting the market and your arbitrage opportunity may dwindle.

One of the main problems is whether there is a trading position on the second exchange or you could be left with untradeable coin. It is not cheap on the second exchange for no reason.

Theres no specific exchangers yet these kind of arbitrage opportunity do only exist or pop-out randomly on each coins being listed between exchangers.Tutorials wont really be needed since this is only a basic concept on buying cheaper coin into other exchange and sell it on higher price with other exchange which in result to gain profits but the factors you should consider is on how you would able to set in on the right time together with fees involved and network confirmations.Time would really be crucial.

I also have never used it, because I think it has a big risk, and I think you are not a coward but you are a smart person and always think ahead.

I have never done arbitrage but seeing from the people who did it, we need a fast connection and a block confirmation of deposit time or withdrawal because most of those who failed due to these two factors, the profit is quite good after deducting the fee

I think its not a good way to make money, i had ever tried few times, it makes profit but not too big, even with apps it need time to do research from exchanges to exchanges, there are so many things that need to consider, the fee, the speed the order book, and the exchanges that we have, so you need to split your money in various exchanges to be able to do arbitrage

arbitrage I think it's very profitable, because we know for ourselves that way we can get a price difference and that will make us get a quick and big profit.
Well if getting lucky yes, it can be a good source for quick profits, but the way market now it's really difficult finding those arbitrage opportunity, bots and play maker can also trapped us down if we would not that careful and fall for their schemes, right now it depend on how you fully understand the market and how you will grab every opportunities that will be given to you.

in the past, I am trying to arbitrage trading but not every time I can make a profit because sometimes I get a lack of transaction to receive in the other wallet so I miss the good time to sell my coin at the high price. arbitrage trading can work perfectly for coins that can send and receive with fast and besides that, we need to know how big the differences of the price so we can be calculated the time for the transaction, how much our profit and else. maybe you can try it but my suggestion is better you trade with altcoin and don't try with bitcoin because it's too risky and the transaction of bitcoin sometimes are too long and you cannot make a profit.

Arbitrage opportunity exists and are cool but you need to be careful when using them and also, timing is of an essence. You also need to make all your calculations before participating as well too but it works very well
