Title: [Unofficial ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: coolisbad on March 04, 2014, 02:08:44 AM UPDATE:
This thread is now obsolete and locked. NEW, official thread by the Fluttercoin dev: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=509499.0 I just found this new coin at cryptocointalk and I think is very well put together. I am not the dev, but I think this coin is pretty nice and deserves more attention. I waited for the dev to make his announcement, but he didn't, so I stopped waiting. :) https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/7060-ann-fluttercoin-flt-pow-pos-and-new-proof-of-block-pob-mining/ GET YOUR WALLETS AND READ MORE ABOUT IT HERE: https://cryptocointalk.com/topic/7068-fluttercoin-flt-information/ DEV FIXED WALLET. This I think if much fairer than a pre-mine, and will allow people to start mining without large miners ready to pounce. This coin introduces Address Hash Mining (Proof-Of-Block) Mining as another option to earn coins and also secure the blockchain. Scrypt Proof-of-Work/Proof-of-Stake Hybrid with **NEW** Address Hash Mining (Proof-Of-Block) Earn Flutter Coins through Proof-Of-Work, Proof-Of-Stake, or Proof-Of-Block mining. Butterfly Effect: The phenomenon whereby a minute localized change in a complex system can have large effects elsewhere. Such is the design of Flutter Coin. Proof of Block Mining (POB) - a feature only found in Flutter Coin, creates more opportunity for such chaos. For ex- ample, someone sending 1000 FLT to an ecommerce site for 1 widget, could be rewarded 2000 FLT via POB, enabling this person to possibly buy an additional 2 widgets, thus enabling the ecommerce site owner to use the proceeds to buy goods or services from another party, and the ripple effects continue... Random Proof-Of-Work Mining (POW) Rewards (halving every 525,600 blocks) Year # MIN MAX Year 1: 500 5000 Year 2: 250 2500 Year 3: 125 1250 Year 4: 62 625 Year 5: 31 312 Year 6: 15 156 Year 7: 7 78 Year 8 on: 50 There is no maximum number of coins, proof of work for the first 7 years is roughly a minimum 500 million and maximum 5 billion. Proof-Of-Stake Mining (POS) - variable interest based on coin age Proof-of-Block Mining (POB) - Mining by matching address segment to block hash (on tansactions greater than 500 coins), 50% of the block subsidy Increased security on Proof-of-Work blocks though verification of coinbase tx value, size, and destinations of coinbase transactions via Proof-of-Block checking. I know for sure there is a fork stuck at 1481 and a pool is on that one, I managed to get on another one that sync'd to 1600's somewhere and I could mine it, another one tells me bad checkpoint, and now most recently I cut down my nodes to just one and it syncs and shows me low 1900's. I dunno what's up. the RPC server just needs kicking into gear, just try reopen it, Ive had to do it a few times and I seem to have my coins .... pools are less likely to do this i guess? I've been mining this off/on for a couple hours now trying to get on the right sync, finally on the right one (I think) for a bit now and man... this must be some black cloud luck I'm having, only 1 block. What gives? probably high blocktime since we only found less than 2k blocks in around 16 hours of mining with less than 1 diff. the dev said about terminal stuff on cryptocoin talk which i don't understand. Hmmm, any idea what the target block time is? Those numbers do make my results less alarming, as long as it wasn't sub 0.1 for most of that or something, cause I'm pretty sure we're approaching 1 soon, it was over .5 on the pool I saw when they were at 1481 block. I've been up all night and got burned chasing GPUCoin and EMUCoin launches which vaporized into nothing.... would love to have a solid early mining period on something today. >< 525,600 blocks per year = 1 minute target time. That was too much hash to throw at such low difficulty all at once, just a *smidge* of prudence and about 10 minutes patience and you would've been able to merge into a difficulty that had time to respond as you came online. The nethash was 20 and you literally came with 10x the existing network hash. Actually not. It's not even using Kimoto. Initially I threw 20mh/s, then 100mh/s, then finally 220mh/s after 30 minutes. Title: Re: FWD: [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, and NEW Proof-of-Block (POB) Mining Post by: amacar on March 05, 2014, 08:19:43 AM Quote Please see the update announcement on page 1 - we are going to fork this coin at 18:00 GMT March 5 - please stop mining as to not waste your time/energy if you are not on the correct block chain. Be sure your wallets are backed up, as one of the things that will need to happen is that you will need to have all files cleared except for your wallet and conf file. The block chain is save and backed up in its present state. Look for updated binaries tomorrow, at least 1 hour before the re-launch. Going to make some drastic changes to the coin mostly with the coinbase maturity, block time, rewards, etc. In the end it will make the coin a lot more stable. I was told last year that possibly these times were not sustainable, and with the huge hashrate that this coin was hit with, those warnings came to fruition. I believe this is a fair valuation, based on the ~5,500,000 FLT inflation per day in the first year of mining. Title: Re: [UPDATED] FWD: [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, and NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: coolisbad on March 09, 2014, 01:25:32 AM I'm looking to buy up to 1 BTC worth of Fluttercoin for 0.00000050 BTC/FLT. I believe this is a fair valuation, based on the ~5,500,000 FLT inflation per day in the first year of mining. That price is between 1/7 and 1/10 of the fair value. :) For that amount, it may not even be worth the electricity it in some places. Let's do some calculations. If you look at this: http://pool.webcoin.us/flt/statistics/pool you will see that right now you can make around 2750 FLT / MHs / day, and that is going down as the diff rises. At your price that would be around 0.001375 BTC / MHs / day or $0.80 / Mhs / day. Now go HERE (http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/?sha256HashRate=1000.00&sha256Power=500.00&sha256PowerCost=0.1000&scryptHashRate=1024.00&scryptPower=0.00&scryptPowerCost=0.1200&sha256Check=false&scryptCheck=true&e=Vircurex) and see what are the going rates / Mhs / day for other scrypt coins. As you can see, the decent coins with no innovation range between $5 an $7 /Mhs / day (not counting the electricity). Note: this may vary from the time of my post. This one has the benefit of being an innovative coin with a dedicated dev. I would value it right now at around $8 - $10 / Mhs / day, meaning 500 sat, ten times more than what you offered. Of course, that is if I would want to sell. But since this coin is Proof of Stake (variable with coin age) I think I'll hold my early mined coins for a while, unless I'm offered around double the going rate for normal scrypt coins. I am hoping any of the forking issues will be solved in this release v0.4.5.0 for good, none of my nodes or mining wallets etc have been out of sync in the last 3 days since the previous update, and this update should increase the stability. There are additions to the block/address matching functions as well, adding another avenue for rewards, just waiting for confirmation that the forking issues ave been resolved (mostly these were caused by pools) Title: Re: [UPDATED] FWD: [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, and NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: thekidcoin on March 09, 2014, 04:59:18 AM Why is this coin not getting more attention? :o The dev is really only active over at cryptocointalk, not here. The launch at cryptocointalk was strategic - I wanted to alleviate any issues before taking on a larger scale influx of mining. I dealt with the whole CAP clone forking with CGB last year, though CGB never had more than a few little forks, but we were watching it and scouring the code like hawks. But I knew with the faster block times relative to NVC (I used NVC as a base obviously) there could be issues. And it was a good idea LOL because there were a lot of issues with forking by the pools, I think this release should help with that, and there are additional features to be added to the address/box matching routines, just have been busy dealing with the forking. I saw that guy with the 220 Mh/s which was crazy, if I had 220 mH, I'd be going for the sure thing. I only have 4.5 mH LOL Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: MaximInet on March 09, 2014, 05:19:43 AM flt.bitember.com

Look, all the main pools now are offline, and the one which is still online has huge problems with block count and so on. Contact pool operators please for more information.

2) The update didn't or couldn't do anything to the wallet - it updated the difficulty max adjustment, added a checkpoint, etc 3) Any errors communicating is by design - all prior release wallet communication would be dropped - there was a critical fix to prevent forking of the blockchain, there was warning for 3 days that these fixes were coming, I gave over 24 hours notice (that's the shortest i could risk with the issues that were occurring), posted this information in the forums, and sent out alerts via the alert system. 4) Should we have forked after a week? Allowing more auto forks because of irresponsible pool operators allowing 90% of the hashrate in a single pool to fork the blockchain again? Yes, there was a problem, but it got fixed: Okay let me explain what happend. The blocks where coming in properly and the wallet is the latest version, so there where no issues there. The payout system of mining pool added the blocks that still needed to confirm to the total amount of the wallet in the database. The mining pool cannot payout more than is in the wallet, so the payouts halted. All of this was caused by a small bug in the mpos (mining pool) software. I updated the mining pool and the database to the latest version and all is running correctly. The payouts have just been proccesed. Please PM me or post on this forum if you have a question. Edited because the issue got fixed and to prevent misunderstandings. I have many things in the works, including the obvious little things website, mac wallet, etc. Once we are listed on an exchange I can promote the coin through other avenues (not worth doing now because its impossible to invest BTC in the coin at this time without an exchange) Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: Gunther on March 12, 2014, 07:59:00 AM Diff is slightly going up, so people are getting interested. I really like the graphics behind it, it gives a professional feel. Also with the coin`s graphic theme you can create a very nice website. BTW, I suppose I was a little lucky and got one POB block (my wallet is locked, so it couldn't be a POS block): Status: 2151 confirmations Date: 09.03.2014 14:53 Source: Generated Credit: 2120.00 FLT Net amount: +2120.00 FLT So do you know why you got these? Have you made an 'ordinary' transaction? Did you send some coins to yourself? In theory , this was generated because you sent a transaction of 1060flt and you somehow got 2120flt , from my understanding the POB is doubling the transaction it matches, so for 500coins->1000coins. If you got 2120coins that means that in some moment you sent 1060coins or you received 1060coins... Please correct me if i`m wrong... this POB is mindfucking everybody(is it a chance only when you are a sender or only when you are a receiver, or both?) I understand now... I thought that it doubles one of the previous transactions... so it doesn`t use a multiplier? from a 500coin transaction I can get 501 or 2000 for example just random? there are no laws" to calculate how much the butterfly effect ( i love calling it this) will generate? Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: Makitaki on March 12, 2014, 02:56:17 PM I did nothing special to get this block. My wallet was online receiving auto payouts from a pool, and I didn't send any coins to myself or anyone else, this TX just popped up suddenly, and that's all.
thekidcoin, what about my main question (minimum/maximum number of days for getting a POS reward)? POS is a minimum of 30 days coinage... 90 days max Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: thekidcoin on March 12, 2014, 03:22:00 PM A quick question for the dev. Pot isn't legal though where I live... JK Seriously thinking about it, its an easy re-brand really. My wallet shows block 8418, running it from scratch with the recommended nodes doesn't help as well as running without any nodes in my conf file. Bitember is also on this chain while explorer.fluttercoin.us and cloudminers show block 8436. What should I do to get to the correct chain?

Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: Makitaki on March 12, 2014, 11:27:02 PM Also I noticed that for some time while the network hashrate was over 300 MH/s, the difficulty was about 4, but right now the hasrate is only 230 MH/s but the difficulty is over 5. Is it normal?
Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: Mightymoo on March 12, 2014, 11:28:57 PM I'm solo mining and on the same block as bitember =$

Block Count: 8415 Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: markonegolf on March 12, 2014, 11:42:18 PM Wallet, BitEmber and blockcrawler all seem to be reporting the same block count now: 8426

Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: Makitaki on March 12, 2014, 11:56:22 PM and now cloudminers is going ahead again (8433 vs 8429).
And look at the pool hashrate, 156 mhs though the wallet and block crawler insist it's only 90 mhs. Maybe it's a hacker on the cloudminers? Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: thekidcoin on March 13, 2014, 12:00:18 AM The explorer was messed up, decided to go with the fork, which was basically cloudminers. I looked at the other pools, they all look OK, my nodes are ok etc, still solo mining OK.
What are you seeing on the other pools? Need to keep that hashrate spread out. The checkpointing reigns in these things which is why the explorer was stuck at the checkpoint Title: Re: [MANDATORY UPDATE] [ANN] FlutterCoin (FLT) POW, POS, + NEW Proof-of-Block Post by: thekidcoin on March 13, 2014, 12:01:16 AM and now cloudminers is going ahead again (8433 vs 8429).
