What is the difference of Bitcoin and Altcoin? Those two got me confused ey. Noobie here.

Bitcoin is the center of the cryptocurrency market, its like the dollar of the world where many local currencies are depending to its market.

While altcoins, it means alternative coins. They are coins that has been modified and created which is inspired through bitcoin and they have their own network/blockchain as well. You cannot send bitcoin directly to any altcoin and the popular use of altcoins today are becoming the exchange of bitcoin to profit.

Bitcoin is the only one supreme coin of the market. Those altcoins are just its subordinates and there's no other coin that be compared to bitcoin. You seem to misunderstood that bitcoin is also an altcoin, no bitcoin isn't an altcoin. It's not an altcoin whereas altcoins are copied from bitcoin which is the original and first cryptocurrency.

The both of this are decentralize technology. These start operation to eradicate the problem of transaction. The difference is that bitcoin already spread its market in various sector on the other hand alt can not spread like bitcoin. Bitcoin work as a market leader.

I think the "patent" discussion is not nice because if you ask me patents should go away and just purely stay as a way to show who first invented but in the end even in real life situations patents should go away so that we can all use stuff to improve life and not make it a personal war between profits for shareholders and keeping your CEO job with them.

Look at tesla both the person and the company gave away their patents for free and they just let the world evolve around them because keeping it to yourself won't help anyone but you. Well already many of the guys here told about the difference between bitcoin and altcoin but here I don't think the most of the people explained him in best way to identify the bitcoin and altcoin in simple manner , I mean to define .
The first coin that entered in the online world of internet is bitcoin and after that all the coins which entered in this field of the cryptocurrency are altcoin , ALTCOIN = ALTERNATE + COIN   , so other than bitcoin are all altcoins .

Your thinking about exact that there are few coins also which are just copy of the technology of the bitcoin Blockchain algorithm for example lite coin having the same technology SHA256 that bitcoin have and also there are many coins which have the same type of technology but it is the bitcoin which is more better and more stable in the cryptocurrency market and another are just representative to show that they can do something like bitcoin but in actual they are not able to do the same impact in the cryptocurrency like bitcoin is doing .

The difference I made was history, a first coin, and a billion dollar market capitalization, and a new Altcoin coin and low value. but Altcoin has higher security.
