Title: Gigabyte r9 290 Post by: distraido on March 04, 2014, 10:37:21 AM Hello
i have bought a Gigabyte GV-R929OC-4GD-GA and can only get 500kh/s these are the setings i am using ( --shaders 2560 --thread-concurrency 12200 --gpu-engine 1040 --gpu- memclock 1250 -w 256 -I 13 -g 1 --gpu-fan 100 ) if i increase se intensity i get lots of rejects ans that was the only --thread-concurrency it tried and it works. i need help my system is windows 8.1 2gb ram 2.5 hdd 320gb cpu amd x2 5200 motherboard m4n78 Title: Re: Gigabyte r9 290 Post by: HellDiverUK on March 04, 2014, 10:39:43 AM Try the 'proper' cgminer 3.7.2 - I had issues getting my 280X running much more than 500kH with sgminer and bfgminer, but the original cgminer 3.7.2 gave me 710kH.
Also make sure you've found the GPU/mem sweet spot - you need to make sure the GPU frequency matches a 0.68-0.7 ratio to get best speed. You can google how to find the sweet spot. Title: Re: Gigabyte r9 290 Post by: Panteraswift on March 11, 2014, 11:47:44 PM How mutch RAM must i havê? I have two r9290 based rigs. Both required the same amount of system RAM as the sum of the RAM in all the installed GPUs, or in other words, if you have 2 r9290s each with 4 Gb of RAM, you will require 8 Gb of system RAM. This is due to the usually high TC value the 290s require to reach their full potential. All my 290s are hashing between 870 and 890. In the other hand, Gigabyte R9 280x GPUs can get by with only one Gb of system RAM per GPU, due to the fact that those GPUs TC sweetspot is usually around 8192. Title: Re: Gigabyte r9 290 Post by: tomashas on March 12, 2014, 12:30:34 AM I'm running 5x Gigabyte R9 290 at 854kh/s each ( http://dump.chiko.nl/g/09fbac.png ) using sgminer with linux (Litecoin BAMT) and 1GB of RAM.
My suggestion: lose windows. Settings: Code: "intensity" : "20", Title: Re: Gigabyte r9 290 Post by: grippy54 on March 12, 2014, 03:13:11 AM I have 7 gigabyte R9 290s in 2 windows rigs. You MUST run 8gb RAM to get them going full speed. I had 4gb and they limped along. You can't turn up the TC or I without issues otherwise.

I got 2 rigs with 3x R9 290 in each and each rig got only 4GB RAM and I'm hashing at 900KH/s (can get higher with higher core speed) with xint 400 on Windows. Same here, I have a 4x Gigabyte 290 rig and it's running on 4GB ram. It gets ~900KH on scrypt and 450KH on vertcoin, but trying to run 2 GPU-threads will crash it.
