Title: Coin.mx Please Help
Post by: JCBman on March 04, 2014, 09:41:20 PM
I popped my Bitcoin cherry this morning.  I bought 1.02. Exciting!  Only I cant use it.  When I attempt to transfer it, I get an "error internal server 500" message.  Since 8AM this morning that is the error I get.

I used a site called coin.mx.

Is anyone familiar with them?  Is this a scam?  Is there a processing time I am unaware of?

I reached out to their help desk and they created a ticket.  "Sara" said she would get back to me in 24 hours.  Oh thanks because by that time (and now) the coin I wanted has risen exponetially.

Anyway, just hoping to hear if I should stick with these guys or call my bank and cancel.

How does the average Joe buy a bitcoin anyway?!

There are two ways I have bought Bitcoin:

1)  Find a local via localbitcoins.com (http://localbitcoins.com).  I used the service to just get names & emails, then contacted them privately by email (that is, not within the localbitcoins site).  I bought for cash in person.  At Starbucks (of course).

2)  Go to popular places (like here or zerohedge.com (http://zerohedge.com)), provide an email and ask who will accept CA$H for BTC by mail (snail-mail).  This requires some trust...

The advantages to each of the above are that you leave no wire-transfer trail...   :)

I have bought BTC at least two times using each method above.  YMMV!  Good luck!
