Title: Can the subject be changed? Yes it can!
Post by: timisis on September 04, 2018, 06:27:45 PM
Could not find the answer!

I am investigating the mysteries of https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2634468.0 . According to the first 3-4 replies, it was a Monero coin in Dec 2017. Then major edit in Feb 2018 and it becomes a new coin, which is when its github was created too. The bastards probably renamed it as well in the subject :) Maybe they even have a  library of such threads, waiting to be renamed next time for profit.

Yes subject (topic title if that is what you are meaning), body of the topic can be changed. You can edit/update them anytime.

The last update of that topic was on July 13th 2018. You can see it if you mouse hover on the date time just underneath the title of a post. An edited/updated one will always have dotted underline.

update:

Looking at below quoted comment and the titles of the first few comments, I do not think such thing happened (thinking about Monero and others). You must be missing something.
Where can I find the conf for CRP? (unless I'm doing something wrong in forknoted?)

Something interesting, you can check the first replies of the thread, The subject is starting with "Re:" there is normally the initial name of the thread and it's not changed [1].
Of course if they have changed the name before anyone replied or they did the first replies this is possible but I really doubt it.

I have changed my reply subject :)

[1] Here is the initial subject of the thread you talked about >

The first 3-4 replies you are talking about are unedited. Meaning their reply subject are unedited too which is  CRYPLY CRP - Coin cryptonote digital currency .

The reply subject on April 2018 after 3 months of no replies there was became [ANN] [CRP] | CRYPLY | CPU Only | YeScryptR16 | True Cryptocurrency.

Time of creation of thread: 12:21 am
First reply (by other user): 12:36am the same day

If no replies are made by others maybe you can suspect that a changed really happened but it has unedited replies that will support that no changes at all to the subject that linked to Monero.

Thanks guys. In terms of my investigative powers versus yours, I repeat, their github was created 2 months later, and there is this tremendous, inexplicable gap in the thread too between December and February. So they were up to no good :) When I said Monero I translated "cryptonote" for the wider public.

They joined github at February 25, 2018 and created their announcement thread at December 23, 2017. IMO it is not enough proof to accuse them of such things because github is only used for sharing programs and source code, development can be done without it. Creating their github account at February is justifiable because it is stated in their roadmap that they have launched their Cryply core and GUI wallet at Q1 2018.

Sorry man, it was really difficult for me to understand what you meant in the OP. As Tankdestroyer said, the registration day of the Github account has nothing to say about how legit the coin is. Well, keep digging something may come out of it.

Of course github is central in the whole "no premine" thing. You can only claim "no premine" if the code is available before the net goes live, only Elvis knows what kind of mining went on between December and February. As for "legit", I am cool, anything that has miners on it is kinds legit, and can kinda crash and burn any minute :)
