I feel the innovation in it really makes it a next generation coin and delivers on the promises crypto currency as a philosophy planned to deliver. There's no foolish meme or pump and dump behind it, or another copy/paste clone. So much of the code has been re-worked to deliver true privacy, and there are no shortage of oppressed peoples in parts of the world who will certainly need that if they are to enjoy the social change cryptocurrency can provide. The only innovations I've seen recently are anonymity, ASIC resistance, and fair distribution. Of these ASIC resistance is a narrow feature benefiting a specific interest group (miners). And fair distribution isn't even close to being addressed since 99.9999% of the population doesn't read these forums.
What's left is (decentralized) anonymity and DRK is making great progress towards that. When you do a fiat transaction, your account balance and history aren't broadcast to the world. The BitCoin protocol is WORSE than fiat in this respect. Therefore anonymity is a fundamental need, not some shady concept that enables crime (cash is already anonymous and used for that purpose). It has a fantastic dev team with a solid community and has had a good development plan since day one instead of just being pushed out and winging it including a noble (12% discount)/btc market place and charity fund raisers. As much as I enjoy some of the 'fun' coins this one has a more serious air to it and IMO is one of the reasons it is more viable as a long term currency rather then just a passing fad. Other than these, I really like Dogecoin because of the community and the infrastructure that has already been built up around it (again... workable currency). I also like Mooncoin (there seems to be some sort of unofficial alliance between the Mooncoin and Dogecoin communities, at least those on reddit), and I like Teslacoin (from the less practical standpoint of being a Nikola Tesla fan and the aesthetics of their logo design). DigitalCoin is decent because, despite the recent drop in value, the coin itself is supported and developed. Baritus works hard to update the coin and he stands behind it. However as I was looking at the price and stuff, I saw someone had bought like 650million beecoins. I'm thinking, "If that coin rises to the value of one cent, he/she is millionaire!" What am I missing here because I've been trying to ride the Bitcoin/Litecoin waves here recently and I've made a little, but I'm no millionaire. What say you? Litecoin would be my "Romney" (not great, but has an actual chance of beating Obama - a compromise).
Zerocoin and Darkcoin have little to no chance of surpassing Bitcoin, but they are great concepts, making them my "Ron Paul" (amazing, but no chance of winning - an unattainable utopian fantasy).
