Title: What happened? Why do prices fly down?
Post by: Natusik on September 05, 2018, 05:18:20 PM
For the current day, the prices of the main crypto-currencies show a steady decline, what could this be related to? Is it because of some rumors? And as a result - a panic sale?

In all truth, the market is still very unstable and this is largely because the growth of Q4 2017 is more of a result of hype rather than an organic growth, therefore the correction this year gas not been pleasant and it may still continue for a while, pending on some regulations.

The movement of prices in the market depends on the demand and supply of the currencies available. If the prices of the coins go down  much it is because the coins are not much trusted. Sometimes prices fly down as a result of bad projects.

I was surprised because the exchange rate dropped sharply today when before the exchange rate of the cryptocurrency market has just increased in exchange rates a few days ago. IMO, the rapid decline in rates is due to investors panic sell and take profit at ETH exchange rate $ 300. I hoped that by the end of 2018 ETH rates will rise to $ 1,000.

A lot of people have been selling their bitcoin for the ETF news and you can see that we will be so close to the next ETF deadline and i guess there will be a huge sell off when there will be a news about the bitcoin have rejected by the SEC. This will become a very difficult thing to the bitcoin and whole of crypto dude.

We hope that we gain again and will rise again. But based on the specualtion of those big investor was it will rise and don't lose hope. We need to trust and believe.

One should note that Market is Volatile, it is unpredictable, anything can happened at any given time during the trading market.  Bad rumors or even panic reaction could result to spike up the price value or worst is the down stream reaction. the KEY in this kind of market situation is PATIENT.

Some say its because of ETH rewards going down, but you can't know what the real reason is.

There's of course panic sale involved, but there are more things than just that. But this time, altcoin drop influenced bitcoin to drop, its not a good thing, but a stereotype is destroyed.

This is normal to see this price these days because there are some group of whales that can sell large amount of bitcoin this is I think the reason why the price drops a lot.
Or the possible reason may be another Bitcoin ETFs rejected happen yesterday that I think traders could sell bitcoin before the price decreases again.

Also, read the latest news from CNBC that I think can help to know what happened to the price. Check from here https://www.cnbc.com/2018/09/05/bitcoin-falls-after-goldman-reportedly-drops-crypto-trading-plans.html

I do not know why it is always down, maybe the cause is because people who feel panicked, when someone feels panic with this kind of situation they are most likely to start selling at a cheap price and that is why the price decreases.

Rumors? I don't think so. I don't hear any negative news lately so probably this is not the real reason for the dip. Come on guys, don't suddenly presume that there are bad news here in crypto world where there is none in the first place. This things create FUDs which is very bad  :-\

I guess this is just a usual dip. Like all the times. For now, let's keep an eye in the market and be ready for more coin hoarding (in case that it drops deeper) ;D.

A lot of guys here are talking about market fundamentals and true markets.  This is about as maniupulated as you can get.  This is not a free market.  The ride up in 2017 and the ride down in 2018 was all manipulation and not real market forces.

I think that in the next month the market should begin to recover, but on the other hand there are no special prerequisites for this. We just wait.

Title: Re: What happened? Why do prices fly down?

More often than not, prices fall because trading volume stops or slows down.

We like to think that bad news affects the market, but it doesn't have as significant an effect as we think.

Whenever there is a spike in price, this causes a "Mini Pump" and people start buying and selling.
During that small rise in price, people start putting up higher and higher sell orders.
Once the small burst finishes, people don't trade as much and suddenly, sellers realize they aren't selling for a higher price so they start putting lower priced sell orders up.
The result? Prices go down.

It is a natural effect of supply and demand.
Whenever the demand is higher than the supply, prices go up.
And then, when there is too much supply and not much demand, prices go down.

The only unique thing about crypto is that it is so volatile because there is so much speculation going on.

This is the crux issue in cryptocurrency and the major scare in dealing with cryptocurrencies as a whole. While supply and demand plays a role in cryptocurrency markets, I think Exchanges should think outside the box to control the amount of coin that is tradable at each instant to have a bit control on sudden bearish markets. The future/trust in cryptocurrency, in my opinion, has a lot to do with high volatility of cryptocurrency markets.

The thing is that, they didn't boomed at all, I mean, bitcoin increase to 8K a few months ago and then dropped to 6K, it was recovering and then... 6K again, that was unexpected, and that is why is causing controversy.

Anyone who might know why the market is so volatile, either is lying or has confidential information, is extremely difficult to know because events occur in the cryptos, the only thing we know is that there were large sales in a short period of time, so we can think that either someone decided to withdraw and sold their bitcoins or are trying to manipulate the market.

Sad to say, but i'm now more worried about the rumors that talk a lot about market manipulation. What we could be seeing is a result of a person/group of people trying to sell crypto slowly. They sell, wait for it to accumulate, then sell again, in order not to crash the price so much.

Of course, this is just speculation. I still believe in the long term future of crypto. Surely, value then will be way more than what we have now.

Exactly, then include the possibility of price manipulation of some whales on it to buy more coins at the very cheap price, this is a very normal scenario since then, so it is not new, but im just wondering that why do people get panic if this falls already done before.

I think its because of panic selling. Big investors trying to minimize their loss by selling. They lost their confidence of the coin that they were hodling and grew tired of waiting for price increase. Its so easy to say that we need to HODL on these situation but in reality that is the hardest thing to do especially if you have limited capital. Big whales experience the same thing but on a much larger scale.

I think regarding the lower prices
It is a game? A game played by great manipulators ( a large pool of individuals bringing down the prices of tokens so that they can buy severally more cheaper)

Which is why Hodler have to avoid fud and also avoid panic sale

We have seen price had slowly rises on past few weeks and when that ETF rejection do happen the price had dumped down.We don't know if that's the actually reason but these kind of negative news can really

Search for the word "fluctuation" and "volatility" and somehow you will understand what the heck is going on. How come rumors can dictate what will be the price movement in the future. Cryptos are composed of big and large hoarder and average crypto holder. If those large hoarder did some dump, they can shake the market. And that market shake will result for those average crypto holders to do the same and that's how the dump will begin = panic.

Now for what is the specific reason, we all don't know since generally, there are lots of events we can point here that can be associated why the price decline recently.

The reasons that the prices of the coins are down so much is because way too much money is leaving the market on a daily basis, the fact is people are dumping too many coins on the market and there is not enough demand of coins in the market to make sure that it is balanced. So where there is more supply than demand, the price of the commodity tends to go down.

Everyone is just making assumptions, or coming up with theories that they deem fit. it is sad to see that no one can exactly state what is going on, and when exactly it would be over. I don't see any rumors that crypto prices have fallen for now. the possibility of this is manipulation. Yes, the market pattern is almost the same every month, but this month it has dropped further for all altcoins. and the worst possibility will occur in the coming months

I do think that the last price drop was caused by the fact that goldman did not create an bitcoin etf. This caused the market to fall down. But in the end it really does not matter in my opinion that there is no etf. You have to look at the fundamental improvements of bitcoin. The etf listing is just for the gamblers

I think prices goes down because of the panic sellers, they were afraid that the market will be gone. Whales were also one of those, they just invest a huge amount and when they see that it increases they will just sell it directly and would result to a low demand. Thus, small holders will be affected to these crisis.

It seems to me that crypto assets were overvalued and now market is trying to find the true value for crypto assets. As we can see, institutional traders are selling crypto assets  and there is no flow of retail investors who want to buy that is why prices are slashing lower an lower. I am sure that the downtrend will be continue in next several months because so strong downtrend cannot be changed instantly. Moreover I do not see any positive factors in the near future which could effect positively on the crypto market. It is possible that there will be any weak uptrend in 2019 but the current year will be obviously strong bearish will the end.

During this time, the BTC rate remained stable at more than $ 6,000, but the ETH rate fell rapidly, to just under $ 190. There are some reasons for ETH's declining exchange rates, but one recent cause is that ETH's transaction fees have soared, causing the ETH to fall sharply. Without any improvement or updating, we fear that the ETH will continue to decline.

Rumors that resulted people to panic.

When there are bad news that usually give the people a reason to panic sell like the statement of Vitalik which is the well known co-owner and developer of ETH. How can someone that's very well optimistic before say that? its likely to be a FUD and FUDs will never be gone if there's an agenda to the market.

The current decline is still in the manipulation of big whales in my opinion, so don't worry about this kind of situation, and surely a few days later the increase will occur again, because this year the market is still in an unstable state. I think this dipping value of cryptocurrency is due to the panic selling of the holders. It seems that they loose hope, and think that this market will not recover for the next 1yr. They don't really understand what's or how this cryptoworld works. And yet they keep on dreaming to be wealthy by joining in cryptoworld.

Manipulators sell off tons of stock which causes a sell off.  This in turn scares off retail investors.  It creates a self fulfilling prophecy.  Then they churn the market at lows to fatigue weak hodlers.  Once they stock up and they are collecting less that what bottom buyers are buying then the rally begins.  Complete and utter manipulation.

Vitalik has created an FUD statement that was affecting the sentiment of the market.
It can't be denied that even the best has its weakness.

And for us who are dealt and has lived for this market will feel the same for the ones. But its different on our case because we have experience. We usually know that these causes the price to skyrocket soon after the massive dumps.

BTC Dominance has increased today 56.2%

And we're simply on the green market again. I'd rather want a slowly but surely movement for the market than the rapid growth that many strives to get with. But rapid growth and gains are fairly normal in crypto but decrease and rapid losses are fairly the same.

For the current day, the prices of the main crypto-currencies show a steady decline, what could this be related to? Is it because of some rumors? And as a result - a panic sale?

in my opinion because of the many rumors that are not good about crypto, there are many bad news outside of crypto and its future. and that can have an effect on crypto prices so that the day the price decreases. and there may still be many reasons behind the decline in cryptocurrency prices.

price is directly related to demand and supply.
a token need to gain client's trust and get them to buy the token and used the said token to trade.
Keeping the token alive is what that will keep the price high

I don't see any rumors that crypto prices have fallen for now. the possibility of this is manipulation. Yes, the market pattern is almost the same every month, but this month it has dropped further for all altcoins. and the worst possibility will occur in the coming months

I'm most worried that when everyone thinks it's going down, they will mass-sell fomo to sell their Bitcoin and altcoin, and we'll see panic sell everywhere :-\

It is very important for us to know that Cryptocurrency is highly volatile and cannot be predicted at anytime. And this is the reason why anything can happened in any given time during trading. Any rumors or bad news can suddenly take the price down and if one is not patient, you will rush to sell.

Basically, it is related to supply and demand but there are other factors that affect the market price.

People with huge amount of funds aim to get more profit from the market so they tend to manipulate them.  With their capability to produce high demand and high supply, they are  able to play with the market prices.  If these whales thing that it is time to accumulate, they use their fund to keep the prices down by simply releasing a huge chunk of supply to the market and pinning the price down.  This is one of the reason why market goes down atm.

Prices fall because people sell cryptocurrency, If not sold the price would not fall, and grew. New investors are deterred by scammers and not the stability of the market, I would not want to invest in the past year, a million, first earn x4-X10, and this year I would have had less my million and it could steal scammers. Of course I would be afraid to invest big money in our market.

Crypto market has high volatility, many factors that influence crypto price, such as government regulation, exchange listing, good or bad news about crypto, etc. But this can not be a reason for us to do "a panic sell", because it is not a good thing to do anything in the panic condition.

It's about the trend basically the demand remain the same because in fact that the last pump bitcoin has been telling us about the possibility for bitcoin to get a big pump. The demand will be following the trend. Trend was giving a huge impact to the crypto when a lot of people are FOMO of a coin and then there will be more demand want to buy that.

I think why prices in the market goes down and down because there are many people have the coins so that the supply and demand of the coins are getting lower so that the price is getting down also. But if they panic sell all of these many people will lose those coins and the demand of the coins will increase and the market value will increase also.

crypto people nee to accept the fact that this is how market react when it boomed to much during December 2017 - January 2018 & then the  bearish trend started. what happened back then wasn't healthy at all & mae it look like the worst kin of bubble, now we'll have to wait even more to get back to BTC @10k (it can be month, years, who knows).

The lat " crash " you''re referring too was kind of " market shaking " to make the domino effect, so the scared traders / holders will Tether or dump or cashout.

Now from a technical perspective, this can be a good sign that we're heading to the last bearish wave which can be a bi bloody (new bottom probably). From there we'l have to wait for the next move, which can be the next bu run, but i don't expect it to be as fast as the last one, but who knows.

I am agree with your opinion. Price rising on december 2017 is too fast and many people taking profits at highest price. But i do believe market will recovery again and i am still believe crypto market cap still undervalue and in the future will reach trillion dollar market cap

Prices fly down when people are selling and you cannot blame people for selling when prices are up and they are making a good amount of profit from the coins. There is also the fact that there are people who keep panic selling whenever they see a small increase or decrease in the price of the coin. The value decrease over 40% in past a month, it's quite massive but IMO it's the power of the demand on last year !
Let's compare on Nov 2017 where the demand getting significant until it's reach the highest peak and start dropping on early year 2018.
For what I can see , it will happen opposite on year 2019 !

The cryptocurrency market is very cruel to someone who doesn't know it, so as they need a deep understanding of the crypto market characteristics. Along with this, the depression of the investors because of the scam ICO still the reason for a long-term decrease of BTC. Now the price of BTC is lower than 85% compared to the last year 2017.

1. volume and distribution of coins
2. supply and demand
3. fraud involving crypto
4. trading
maybe this is only part of the many causes of the crypto market being unstable, because the crypto market is difficult to predict.

There is nothing wrong, all this is the game of market participants, so prices fall. Sometimes negative news often causes panic, lots of supply but little demand, this is a market law and nobody changes it.

In newspapers you can read many theories about why prices are going down. Couple things are common
for all of them, nobody knows where money is going. People just speculating.
We must stay firm, we must use this moment in our advantage. We can do that with increasing our portfolios.
It`s the same thing I`m thinking past few months, I even wrote once that I would like drop to last longer so I can
buy more coins. I don`t have money to buy as much as I wish, I need time to make some money for buying coins.
This drop is good, I bought some more Ethereums at $100, I will buy next month a bit more, but we will see at
what price.

We are near the bottom and these "fly downs" are just last shakeouts. Technically (in general) trends reverse after a big sell-off. We still need a big volume spike with a big red candle and just after a big green candle. Of course, higher highs and higher lows will follow it.

There are many factors for low prices. In this last month of the year, tax loss selling is an additional factor adding to downward pressure on coin prices. Hopefully January will start a positive year.

Bearish market in which composed of Inflation, Scams, Demonetization and other FUD's. These all are contributing to the down fall of the crypto market that if this will not be address by next year then i'm afraid many will leave Crypto currency investment in dismay and will shift to none crypto investments.

I found it normal every time there is a price correction or a burst of a bubble. People these days are quite newbie about of this market, always hesitant to adjust and think about what they would do if they are in this situation. It's like lack of self-awareness that would suddenly just go dumb when every time the market has a price correction.

If you are an investor or a trader you should have known the risk already as you are gambling your investments in the market whether how you play it, it all depends on the market and all you have to do is to adjust on the current situation.

No one exactly knows what have actually happened. Some do think that this is just the correction year for what happened last year wherein the market prices have gone crazy increasing which is definitely unexpected, so maybe this is the way to somehow stabilize the prices. One thing is for sure, we should not be intimidated and be scared of such thing. Just be patient and nothing would go wrong.

That is what smart investors are going to do but many investors that lost a huge amount of money are selling their coins and are probably never going to go back, this is what it is causing the huge decrease in the price of all the market, there is not enough demand and the supply of coins in the market is simply too high since everyone seems to be determined to sell at this moment.

I don't want to spread FUD but the decline of cryptomarket has now become worse as more and more coins have hitting their lowest bottom for this year. This creates panic to the newbie investors as no assurance when this downfall will end. I just hope that somehow we can survive in this difficulty.

every week there is always a large nominal transfer of bitcoin between crypto wallets, this information is available on various twitter channels and telegram transparently.

FUD doesn't move too complicated now because what happens is speculators think it's better to secure their assets at the end of the year in the form of more stable coins. This decline will reach a saturation point but not in the near future.

Rumors? there's really a force that drives the price into the place that we don't know. This makes the price lower, the market seem to be too high before and this gives the confidence that the consecutive year which is this year shall become low.

The demand for this year became low and people don't want to buy because of that. Too many sell orders that creates an attraction to many newbies to have their sell positions.

It is commonly happen to a decentralized market, prices moves easily and don't see where it goes. Crypto prices drastically dump as it meant to be happen and there is nothing to worried about cause it momentarily back into normal flow.

Probably due to the continuous market downfall which is a part of the natural volatility of the market. There are many possible reasons but no one knows what exactly happened this year. One thing is for sure, what happened this year is the total opposite of what happened last year which gives a huge problem to the investors due to their lack of profit at times like this.

Most speculate that the main reason why the market tanked in the past couple weeks/month is because of the hard fork that happened in bitcoin cash. This was a major event in the space and it really affected the whole market negatively. Prior to this happening, ethereum was also not doing so hot because ICO's were and still is dying. The reason why this has a direct correlation with Ethereum's price is because the majority of ICO's that were popular last year all claimed that they would be on the Ethereum chain, which is why the price last year was so strong. But alas, the ICO's were big on their promises and were not able to back up said promise. Coupled with this, the majority of bitcoin farming these days occurs in China, and the regulations surrounding cryptocurrency in China isn't exactly friendly. These are just some of the reasons why the prices keep going down. But not to worry, as there is still growth in the space. The crypto market is bigger then ever before and Ethereum's hard fork is also coming up which should shake things up a bit to say the least.

This is caused by a number of large investors with large capital, making Bitcoin depressed. With the fall in the price of Bitcoin, it will affect Ethereum and all Altcoin will also decrease. So with this condition, there will be many people who sell coins with a sense of panic because they are afraid that they will lose more money.

The price flies down due to a lot of reason. And I think the primary reason is the domination of the ICO project about holding Ethereum. Recently, almost ICO project sell ETH. That makes the price of ETH always goes down and not any sign to recover. So that I think if the scam ICO project decrease, the situation of the cryptocurrency market will be improved.

What is happening is just that the markets are highly speculative. None of it is based on actual real world use yet, which means there's nothing substantial to back up each coin's value. Add to this the fact that the markets are in general very thin, and then also the problems with limited trading pairs for alts, and then the difficulty of moving between fiat and crypto - these together I think account in a large part for market movements.

most likely because most holders of Coin panic sell so that what happens and feels together is the lower price. As for what is happening with the crypto market, it is still experiencing the lowest price due to the end of the year and commemorating Christmas.
