Once I was playing the slot machine with my wife when someone that she knew (a distant acquaintance) asked her for $20 cause she ran out of money. My wife gave her $20. Half an hour later, the woman came back, removed her gold chain and tried to sell it for $50 cause she ran out of money again. My wife said no thanks. That was the last time they talked. The woman used to be married and had two sons. Sadly, her gambling addiction caused a strain on her marriage, and resulted in a divorce. Her husband left her and took custody of their children. The woman's gambling got so bad that she ended up working as a prostitute for a while.

What's the strangest or craziest thing you witnessed in a casino?

Almost identical to what happened to me but it happened not inside to a casino but to a festival where there are some gambling games. A stranger which I really have no idea why he approached me and then he offered me some of his stuffs such as mobile phone, watch and jewelry. I don't know if that's a modus but his reason was identical as that woman, he lost and he wants to take it back.

Why on earth would he want to take it back after losing ?
These are just some crazy addiction stories that a lot of people are experiencing each and every day and then they tend to get their life wasted on things they could have averted right from the onset, but the urge that usually result from the greedy impulse, will just keep pushing them to do the craziest thing.

I have experienced this before as well but with a cousin, and that was recently, and unfortunately he sold his new IPhoneX to me for as low as $300. I did not know at first as I thought he needed money urgently but he came clean when he came back to me to want to sell some of his appliances.

High level of craziness when it comes to gambling as far as I am concerned. I had to make his parents aware, so they can monitor and find a way to help him before it gets out of hand, at least since he is not married nor have kids yet.

Same experience but the person who approached is completely stranger to me.At first reaction you wont really expect that it do happen face to face where you can able to see such addiction is already coming to an extent

I remember my first casino visit to Macao with my cousins, I had decided to carry lot of cash and had decided to play and win a lot. After trying slots, roulette and other machines I finally gave up, I was simply loosing. On the other hand my cousin kept on winning big, after a while I told him let's leave you won good, but like they say greed makes you blind, he lost everything, then he asked me for some funds which I gave, post that he was ready to sell his iPhone which I said no, he even approached a stranger to sell his suit. This kind of weird things do happen, just you should be careful with whom you go to the casino.

gladly, I don't have the strangest or craziest as your experienced because I never playing gambling at the real casino so I don't meet the real person. this could be a good lesson for you or your friends that playing gambling too often because they can be addicting in gambling and they can lose all of their money like that woman. we don't know what next that can happen if we are still playing gambling and I guess, in the end, we can do like what that woman did. we can sell all the things that we have just to continue playing gambling because we think that we can win in the next round.

This is really a sad story to hear and this is what exactly in many posts I refer that if you cannot have control, gambling will take control of you and rest will be just wait and watch for the person as this will destroy as gambling is just to have fun and not to make money.

Fights between the gamblers for some silly reason is looks like the strange thing for me,most of the time the players fights for the girls out there. :D The words will be exchanged first and sometimes it will go all the way like physical endanger between them.

That is a sad story wrote by the OP, I know that girl was addicted already on gambling and that is not looking good to see that girls like us gambled even have already a family. Since the start, his husband already knows that she is a gambler that needs her to leave that kind of habits. There is no way to play gambling for a good future, as earlier as you can leave it while you can control your self. Don't let gamblings control you that is not a good influence from your family and makes probably craziest thing that you've experienced if you let that happen.

One of the most weird experienced was when I was talking to a gambler in the casino lounge, at that day he was losing so much and he complained that the God hasn't helped him that day, and all of his lucky charm were not working, he told me that the casino used supernatural things to make the gambler never win any money in the end, its a very weird conversation to me, I knew in Asia people really believed superstitious thing, but some people believed it too much

I've not been at real casinos too often, but I have seen one really crazy thing at a casino in Prague when I was on holiday there.
A guy had just lost a lot of money and went on a small rampage when he had lost the last of his money on roulette.

He was kicking the machines and shouting at staff, but I have no idea what he was saying, since he spoke Czech or Russian (I can't hear the difference and it was a Russian owned casino)
He ended up being dragged out by security and that was the end of it.

Was pretty scary, since the guy was looked pretty big and strong.

many things I can find if I meet people who play gambling, especially offline gambling. someone's curiosity can defeat everything even if he is able to gamble and experience losses that can spend a lot of money, in various ways he can do everything in the offline gambling place, so he is forced to sell valuables such as cellphones and watches, he offering goods that he had only to get money because of his curiosity to be able to play again, I was happy to buy the item because he sold below the market price. but from that incident, I can take the lesson that if we have run out of money in gambling we should not do things that are very detrimental, we should be able to make decisions to stop before we lose everything we have

I feel sad for that woman. You see how gambling can affect someone's life that badly. As for me, when I go to the casinos, the only strange thing I witness is people's behavior and how they look at each other. It is like they have killing eyes. And with the focus they have, it is like they really are going to win. And if they lose, their facial expressions change. I enjoy watching people's behavior and make my own analysis. If you mean a real casino than I have never been in a casino. However if we are talking about online places as well than the craziest thing I have ever seen was someone making 2000 bitcoin from primedice by some sort of "hacking the seed" type of system, I mean it wasn't illegal or against the rules or anything, dude just simply took advantage of systems weakness and made primedice lose 2000 bitcoins in just an hour or so. He took out most of it as well, withdraw from the website and made it off with it. Primedice, the biggest dice website in the whole world, had to readjust and stop giving lower rank people signature campaign.

Like what I said, I have no idea why he approached me and maybe that guy has a serious addiction and he lost a lot. This only proves that addiction can come to the extent that whatever we own, we can sell it for the sake of addiction, recovering of our losses or its already a mental disease that can't be stopped easily. And usually with these stories and experience that happened to us, addicted gamblers are willing to sell everything just for it.

Obviously, any one who will go to the length of borrowing to gamble is totally and with no doubt addicted. Well an old guy trying to force his way to a card dealer and getting thrown out by a bouncer seems pretty weird already to me considering it was a pretty big casino. That took quite the attention while i was there.

This your own weirdness is on the extreme which its only rehabilitation someone like that will have to go through in other to recover from such problem.

For me, the weirdness I witnessed is in a sport gambling sites where I had put a bet on a particular to win the game but unfortunately the match entered into extra time but my team eventually won the game but till tomorrow the match remained unconfirmed which is usually the case as few minutes after the end of the match I am either credited with my winnings or deducted from my balance for losses made. It was after that I realize that, the bet only applies to the first 90 minutes of the game and not anything that happen afterwards.

Really amusing! I have heard mad stories of gambling for a while now, but this one seems to hit me strongly considering the fact that a woman could go that length when it comes to gambling and got affected to the point of hitting the prostitution phase, for someone with kids. That is really strange and crazy most especially for a woman. I used to think guys are usually the ones more prone to being an addictive gambler based on their urge to get rich quickly sometimes and take some risks, but these days it is becoming the other way round. It is a sad story for her and honestly, this is one thing people need to start realizing that based on your mentality towards gambling, it can cause more harm to you than you can imagine. Personally the strangest thing I've ever witnessed at a casino is the normal casino behavior.... People spending dozens of hours every week throwing their money down the drain for the slightest chance that they might strike gold! The fact that people are so blind to the fact they are destroying themselves is insane to me and yet it happens to hundreds of people every day.

The currency that we have to be able to live life easily is money. But the only real currency that we have is time. It's so strange to see people living their lives. Just thinking about how limited our life truly is in this world, people seem to just take their lives and their money for granted. What makes this strange is the fact that there are tons of other things that you can do for your free time. They are mostly free, more enjoyable, increases your social circle, and is more extreme than betting a $100 and then losing it.

Let's say the gambler is an introvert and socializing and being out there really is not their thing. There's still tons of things you can do. Introverts are mostly smart people and reading a book for them is a magical thing. Some plays DnD every Thursday nights with other introverts. Or you can just isolate yourself from the world and play online games. The adventures in online games these days are so good. It takes you in a whole new world. I often wish I can just stay at home and play 24/7 but we need to fend for ourselves. That's a sure thing. I can't even blame them for acting that way but its a serious matter that needs to be addressed and solved on their part. However, if they won't do something like controlling themselves and appreciating those things that they have it can possibly won't go that far. But this is just too much for them and I guess they are aware of the consequences of their actions.

Long time ago, heard from a friend of a friend about Bitcoin. Some guy locally basically bought and sold BTC. This was before localbitcoints and before Coinbase and before BTC ATMs.

Basically after doing a few transactions, I trusted the guy and so did a few other people who knew me.

However my last transaction with this individual didn't end well. I wanted to sell some BTC, so I always sent it first from my computer and then met him up in public to get the money. The guy never showed up. He never responded to messages and he didn't answer any phone calls.

And later on after months and months, I heard from somebody else that knew that guy and apparently he had a bad gambling addiction and he gambled away all his BTC and was scamming others to "break-even" and "pay the bills".

Maybe some hacked rolls out of some Casino due to know his previous seed :P

I regularly saw people put a "This slot machine is reserved" sign on a slot machine so that they can go and play another slot machine before coming back to the reserved machine to play it. It's like they don't want anyone to play a particular machine so they keep reserving it every time they walk away from it.

It did not happened in the casino but in a certain gambling place where these people are taunting one another whenever they are winning. I know that it made me pissed at first since they are so noisy and other people can't focus on what they are doing.

But while it last, it is fun to watch since that noisy one was lost and it is more funny seeing the one who are mocked at first are the one mocking him, it is like a revenge story you can only see in the movies or read on stories.

I think GOD is always telling that person to not playing gambling but he does not listen or he doesn't know the sign so he still playing the game until he's lost much money. I don't believe that he was lucky at that moment because if he has a luck, then he doesn't need to get lost much money and even he can win much money from the game. superstitious won't help him if he doesn't have a luck in the game and he only getting loss his money.

A whole lot of times it can really be worrisome to see the extent at which people will go when it comes to gambling. I would say the behavioral concept of most people and how they have ended up fashioning their mindset with the idea of gambling for the money is what ended up turning them to what they are.

This is the reason I always say addiction is not a gambling problem; it is the people in question problem because as long as you cannot put yourself together and be in control of your life, something somehow will end up controlling it for you.

I'm not really whether it is true story or not, but your wife did something wrong here. She should not give/lend her $20 because you know that the money will be used for gambling. Once you lend money to someone for gambling, means that you support his/her addiction.
In my opinion it is not strange or crazy thing in gambling history. Many people do the same thing when they run out of money, starting from getting loan, selling stuffs, or even do crime to get money. They are hardly addicted to gambling, so they will do anything to get money. Once you find this kind of people especially if you know them well then tell them to stop instead of giving them loan or money for free.

Nano was at 20-30$.

One guy was at -20k$ ? ( -2k nano ).

Somehow he climbed back and went up to something like 40k nano.
He had literally 1.1 - 1.2 millions $ in nanos.

I am not sure why, but he kept playing. He started to lose / win, so he was even.
Max bet was 1000 nano back then. Then the site owner decided to lower the maxbet to 100 nano.
And somehow, the user lost everything, he just lost the 1.2m$ he made, in like  1 week, playing everyday, losing and losing.. He even made other accounts because he thought his account was targeted by the site.


I am not sure what was his objective since he had made more than 1m$, but this was sad to watch.

That is most good way to be with gambling. There are various victims here on this forum and over that we can see the people as victim. I need them to work on the good projects but we cannot identify the person.

I see the people every day like getting addicted and loose the all fund because of their greediness.

How hard the life of that woman lived, she lost everything because gambling even became a prostitute. really pity. Never use money intended for other purposes in gambling because if we lose, of course we want to chase it quickly and we will tend to use the more risky ways. Once we have a problem with gambling, usually other problems will follow and it is difficult to get out of the circle.

I hope that all of us don't have to get the same experience as her because we don't know what we want to do if we are in her position. We should think twice when we want to use the money for playing gambling because we need that money for many things. The last choice to become a prostitute because of losing big in gambling is a very bad choice, if she can still think clearly and still be able to control emotions well, then she should sell her gold chain for something more profitable such as trading capital for example, with that I think it will be better. The craziest thing I have heard about betting is a guy bet with his wife when he ran out of money,so crazy right but even more that person lost that bet too and left her wife to the person who won the bet (maybe the person was happy for losing that particular bet ;D).I didn't witness it directly but I have heard it from my friends circle.So don't gamble to this level guys keep yourself in control while betting.

I think gambling needs self-discipline and self-control.You should set aside first your extra money for gambling before going into casinos.Gambling is all about winning and losing either.If you win,much better,but if you lose,just go home directly and do not try to bargain any of your jewelries worn in exchange for money to gamble again trying to win back all your losses.

I agree with you. It is better we know the consequences that we might get in the gambling game, so we are ready to accept. Never deal with something we don't know, and it's better to prevent before we lose too much money. Leaving the gambling places is difficult, but it's more difficult to stop gamble.

Nice for you as you know your limits and do not want to cross it else even your position would be like another addicted person who would have lost huge money and also many relations depending upon how much debt he has taken from the people. Losing Streak is the worst thing that i have ever seen in a casino. continuously 9 times red...and i lost all my money. but from that time i have controlled my gambling :)

If you are referring to a dice game with 2x payout, 9 losses streak is nothing. It is completely an usual thing on dice game, you can get even worst losing streak when you are unlucky.
Strangest thing that I've witnessed in a gambling activity is when I saw someone has won 10x of his initial bankroll but keep on playing till he lose it all. Even worst he sold his car after busted and continue gambling, luckily he got what he has lost back plus some winning (not get the 10x back though) and he could buy a new car with. You can always feel that you can recover all of your loses but I realize that the more you think that you can recover all of your loses the more you will lose all of your money that is why I decided to lessen my gambling activity and just gamble for fun.

In fact, I would say never gamble all because you are trying to chase some winnings in the first place as that is the only way you can even come to terms with reality that gambling is just a game of luck and nothing else. In most places you can't put physical items on the table as well as things like deeds and licenses. This is very strange. Maybe it was some underground den?  ???

The strangest thing I saw was when they kicked out some people for teaming up and playing together against random dudes. I'm not a regular so that was one and only time that I saw them ask normal looking and acting people to leave. Sometimes you see a drunk person being kicked out that's probably it.

For the story of that woman who is addicted to gambling is unfortunate. She chose to gamble instead of her family, and it's not good to be dependent on something like gambling because of the risk that you are going to take towards financial and also the relationship with her family. For my weirdest thing that I experienced inside a casino is that when I was a newbie in gambling, it's those time that I was feeling shy (also the reason why I created this thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818628.msg28860181#msg28860181)), there was a couple beside me, and they started coaching me towards what I will do. I had an idea on what I was doing but they are the ones talking to me and telling me what to do. I tried following them but they were wrong so I decided, after a few rounds, stopped following them. When they noticed that I didn't comply, they started trash talking me and kissing each other. It's like, why are you doing that near the table? Then when I reached my goal, (doubling the amount of my capital), I stopped and just walked away.

That is the main reason why self-control is something that every gambler should always have. When there is no self-control, you will not be able to place limits for yourself and if you cannot place limits for yourself, how will you even be able to know when you are already threading on the wrong path most of the time.

The craziest thing I've witnessed or maybe the craziest thing I've watched since I just seen that in the news report is the gunman at the Resorts World Manila last year, I can't forget that.

The gunman started stampede and shooting his gun, he also set fire on the casinos table and some slot machines inside the building. He then stole ships and then commit suicide. That is the worst thing that could happen to a gambler as reports say that Gunman is a gambling addict, his addiction caused 38 deaths including his own, that is the worst.

Yes that is good but in fact most of the people who even have good limit for their gambling but still when they start losing money then they try again and again to play and recover their lost and in such condition they find it too much difficult to stop playing gambling.

I am not a racist or what but it feels strange when whenever i go to a casino, the room is always filled with 80% chinese. I dont know if they really are really rich enough and gambling is just their hobby or gambling is one of their culture or status quo. Chinese people are undeniably rich though.

Wow, that is a crazy story.  I haven't heard of that one but it reminded me of the Las Vegas shooting.  Casinos usually have extremely good security but if the madman is determined there isn't much you can do to stop it.  It's clear that money will make people do crazy things.

One of the craziest thing I have faced is people stealing other's money in the casino to bet either by stealing without their knowledge or just by robberis and I faced this many times when I was in abroad once where people involvig in these kind of activity and the Police feared to take much action against those criminals.

Never been to casino before. ..I  only see them on Television and the Internet. I have observed some similar behaviors with local sports betting centers . I know of some surprisingly wealthy neighbours who discuss their previous sports betting all the time as if they are addicts.

Yes chinese people are rich because they are strict when it comes to saving money and they will always do business or work hard enough to earn money but it strange to see them  gamble . maybe those who gamble are above average kind of chinese because they  wouldnt care at all if ever they could loose the money or not .

I haven't experience something strange like what you have experience whenever I get into a casino. Imagine, your wife acts like a withdrawal machine or a pawning shop for her friend just to be able to play into the casino. That was already a desperate move ever done by a player to even sold her gold chain for $50 just to continue playing. This only shows how people are getting addicted into playing casino games without minding how much they have already spend just for playing.
