Ether is not a pump and dump  coin. Even bitcoin is down 70% currently and in the past years has gone down 80-90% two times but has still gone to new highs after every low.

The fake volume had everyone fooled.

Although news and articles are the main Pump and Dump tools, this time it's a combination of P&D and "natural fear".
The news that I'm talking about is the Ethereum's upcoming mining reward reduction (google it if you want).
What they "fear" is the whole Ethereum economy will landslide after the implementation, which will never happen IMO.

So, I would say, this is not totally a Pump and Dump and if you're looking for profit, this is the best opportunity you have to stash ETH before it recovers in the next few months.

I think Bitcoin will have a better future than ETH. If you watch the market for the past 3 weeks, you will see the difference. Bitcoins are always pumped higher than other altcoins. And that will repeat in the next few months. So I appreciate Bitcoin.

There are many coins and tokens that have lost in value 30 times or more from the high. Currently, the best result is a loss of 70-80%. ;D

It does not mean Ether is a pump and dump scheme when almost every altcoin is down more than 80% from its peak. Will you consider Bitcoin a pump and dump scheme when it fell from $20k to $6k? The market is bearish and with investors selling their coins in this summer break, the situation is worse. Our only hope is to hold the coins and wait for recovery. If you have some fiat, you can consider averaging down on the quality altcoins.

Bitcoin is the ruler!!!

The same thing is happening with many other coins and tokens in the market right now. This is just a natural decline and reaction to a market that has gone sour with cryptocurrency. Many people are leaving the market for good as their experience and expectation has been negative so far...after all the speculations and immense growth last year. Many people are already doubting this market...they are not here for any emotional attachment with all the stories behind this new technology or whatever they are in for the money and once they realized the mistake they panic and say goodbye for good.

Ethereum isn't a scam it's a legitimate project with one of the strongest development teams on the planet behind it but you are right the ICO craze of 2017 and early 2018 over inflated it significantly and all those projects cashing out greatly reduced its value but it will recover that in due time

This you think is from the level of last year, so the whole market fell so much, and some unreliable coins completely disappeared from view. This is a natural cleaning, in the future there will be a new round of positive events.
