Title: Looking for a service for simulated trading on historical data
Post by: Uniex on September 12, 2018, 05:21:05 PM
Hi everyone!

I am looking for a service to test bollinger bands and RSI indicators on historical data.

Means I can set up some signal algorithm - if bb breakdown bottom line then buy,
and if high line - then sell, for example

From what you describe, I assume you want to do backtesting strategies.

Have you tried zenbot? They support backtesting. Try it here: https://github.com/DeviaVir/zenbot

I don't know if it will fit completly your needs but with Tradingview you can script indicators and generate signal that could be used in a "strategy" where you could do backtesting
More info here : https://www.tradingview.com/wiki/Strategies

Simulated trading on historical data assumes that your orders won't influence the market which if they're large enough then they will. Try placing a 10 btc order on a thin altcoin market and you'll struggle to get it filled at the opportune moment. I'm not saying there's no value in it but just be weary of thinking it's a true representation of what could've happened.
