If it's just an add-on while they are bored with their lives, then, increasing its value might be hard for this one.

Tried it. It installs the requirements, and after manually adding a whole bunch of missing things via 'pip install', the generate_config.py worked.

It is unclear where config.py and peers.py have to be, but I'm guessing in the 'config' folder. Starting the server or the concensus errors with:

I can't pip install this, because it gives this error:

Managed to install the requirements by manually removing some python libs.

This: python p2p.py serve config.json peers.json
doesn't work, it doesn't recognize the parameters. The scripts do seem to work, but it looks like it hangs.

I've been checking on the application of YadaCoin in playstore, but why do the UI of the application is just look like that.
In my opinion, you will hardly get any user to download the app cause the UI is (sorry to say) it's not interesting at all.

Understood, this is very early software but also, YadaCoin is a protocol for developers to build social media applications that share content, users, and user relationships. This app is more like a mobile wallet and a demo of the fundamental features of YadaCoin. We want developers to make exciting apps using YadaCoin. We don't want to be the next Facebook. We want to come together to provide a better user experience than Facebook.

I got as far as the windows utube video, and saw the install "MongoDB" and forward port 8000
The days of having to install additional software, open ports etc, are long gone.
I can see you are very excited about this project, but please, slow down, develop it more fully first, and then released a more polished wallet....
Otherwise in the face of all the other coins being released every single day , I think your project will just get lost....way too complex for your average miner

All I can say is that I'm doing the best I can do. If you believe in the vision then come contribute to the project. I think you have the misconception that I am doing this for the money or that I am running a company that has customers. No. This is a project, it is open source, I am just a volunteer on this project. This project would love additional volunteers from anyone willing. Ok, so the exceptions taken with mining this coin are port forwarding and mongodb. I'll see what I can do and I appreciate your honest feedback.

You're rounding up quite a bit here. But either way, there's still plenty of time to mine coins. No reason not to.

Installing mongodb and port forwarding your router should not be prohibitively complex. I'm working on a uPnP solution that will alleviate the need to port forward but that will take some time.

 A link to the correct version for win10, and how to install it, and configure it, would be a great start.

 I could be wrong with my maths, but total supply="21,000,000", "coins in circulation=585,650". so  21,000,000 / 585,650 = 35.85759412618458, so erm actually 1/36th of all coins already mined.

Also, I thought this was a new coin, therefore was excited to mine something in its infancy, but looking at the GitHub I see that the first wallet was way back 8th Oct 2017, yet this announcement was made on the 14th Sept 2018, that probably explains why we're already at block 11,713.

Also explorer shows address "1iNw3QHVs45woB9TmXL1XWHyKniTJhzC4" with a balance of 307,241 coins out a current total of 585,650, so that address has around 52% of all coins mined.

Clearly someone knows how to set the wallet and miner up....

So like I said, I wish you good fortune, but for me, i'm out !

This is another mischaracterization.
8th Oct 2017 is when I started the repository. You couldn't even mine coins at that point, nor did I even have the protocol remotely finalized. I started mining coins in September 2018. The number of blocks found is likely because the difficulty is too low, which I'm looking into. That address does have 307,241 coins but will not continue to have such a high percentage of total circulating coins because that address hasn't been winning as many blocks since others joined in on mining. I expect that percentage to drop significantly and I hope it does. Someone had to start mining in order to bootstrap the blockchain. We're at 11,713 blocks of 210,000 that will reward 50 YadaCoins, plenty of time to get lots of coins.

So many scams have a polished look and look so perfect, well, this is what an honest project looks like. We're trying to build something awesome and it's not going to happen overnight and would love to have your support!

It's still easy to find several blocks per day with a modern CPU.  Probably not for long though.

That project is interesting, the ambition is very nice (and not irrealistic!), the main Dev (who's alone for now!) is really efficient, hard working, kind and helpful.

Well, first of all that is not the main purpose of the project, and then... when you have installed biblepay binaries and made it work properly, I can assure you that this Yadacoin is DARN easy to setup ! :D

Especially with the new "one-instruction" setup.

I agree that things need a bit of polish here and there, but remember that this project is in its infancy!

Concerning the "already mined" topic... I agree that this system advantages the "first comers". Well, isn't that the case for most, if not all, blockchain projects? We are still faaaar from block 210000, that will see the reward divided by 2, so it's more than time to join the happy miners ;)

Hello! Is there a way to limit the mining cores of my CPU?

Set up a node with a single command on Ubuntu 18.04:

This update allows you to post and comment on posts like you'd expect, but you can also enter a live chat on a post. So each post not only has a comment section, it also have a live chat room. And again, all chats, posts, and comments are completely encrypted and private. The server has zero knowledge of group names, passwords, messages, or participants. Go check it out!

I just released v4.1.0 of the YadaCoin core. This is by-far the most stable release to-date. Currently, there are multiple miners and nodes on the network and all stay perfectly in sync.

As you know, I've been mostly focused on the social protocol since this project's inception, and there have been outstanding issues with the network itself. I'm thrilled to say the issues have been resolved and am now letting out a deep sigh knowing that YadaCoin has finally entered a new era of network stability.

I have big plans that will take advantage of this new, robust system.

Go take this new version for a spin, I'm very proud of it.

I tried this coin about 2 years ago, and never managed to install it...
So 2 years on, i see it has had a major update, so i thought "what the heck" lets try again...

Hmmmm, i should have learned the first time.

I'm using a clean Win 10 install, fully updated.

so we start here

No clue, so i uninstall, reboot, and start again
This time i untick the "Install MangoDN Compass" and it seems to install (needs reboot)

Can you please check your work, start with a clean windows install (as most users do) and walk thru the process you are asking us to, and document which options we need to choose, and which downloads we actually require.

I would love to help you get your node up and running. Sorry you're having difficulty but thanks for the detailed feedback.

Can you start a cmd window first and then drag the yadacoin exe into it and then run it. That'll keep the window from closing when you get an error. Then can you please paste the error here and I can provide further assistance.

There are currently a handful of miners. Blocks average just under 10 minutes, 50 coins per block. 1% pool take. People are getting hundreds of coins per day.

Hello CPU Miners! Just released v4.1.9 of the YadaCoin core. This update dramatically simplifies bootstrapping a node. I've removed systemd from the setup script and made several improvements to the syncing algorithm. I am now happy to say that we have brand new nodes that synced from 0 height without any errors. Thank @NCTRL on discord for his reports over the weekend!  We really got it done.

I've just doubled-down and taken CenterIdentity to the next level. In case you're not familiar, CenterIdentity is a company that applies practical use-cases to Yada blockchain technology. My non-provisional patent application for "Methods and Systems for Password Recovery Based On User Location" is officially in pending status. Make sure you don't have any "protective shield" extension running while you're in the wallet app. it may prevent it from working.

Once the "export identity" field is populated, your wallet is created. Goto the send/receive tab to get your wallet address.

It would be nice if somewhere one could see stats on what the miner is actually doing, as in how many shares, coins mined, what the payouts are and how often.... is there any place to do that ? Most pools have a login or stats page to see what any miners are doing.

v5.7.1 of the YadaCoin core is now released!

Blocks are sent when connecting to a new peer. So while fixing the disconnect issue in v5.7.0, blocks stopped being sent as often because the syncing was not happening upon reestablishment of the connection.

This version fixes that issue and increases the frequency blocks are sent.

This is all in an effort to create a better, more responsive user experience for yada payments.

If I make a yada payment on centeridentity.com, I should be able to see that payment on the yadacoin.io explorer in a few seconds.
