Sports is one thing that unites the entire world. Even countries who appears to be political and economic rivals are usually united around sports as evident during world tournament events like the World Cup and the Olympic Games.

I believe if cryptocurrency is adopted as payment method for sporting activities including domestic league games stadium tickets and more importantly, the most watched league event in the world such as the UEFA Champions League, cryptocurrency global adoption will be actualized even earlier than expected.

What are your opinions?

i wouldn't call it key because although what you are saying is going to be great if it happens but it is still going to target a very small group of people whoa are actually buying tickets. how many people can actually go to an stadium and watch the matches anyways?

interestingly enough we will see this in action during the 2020 Olympics which is held  in Japan.

Yes to my well able hero comment,but at least ,most countries international sports are sponsored by their government's,so them getting to know about Crypto currency, can make them create their own digital currency,and possibly legalized Crypto,being it,its the only or a major means of participation..

This has been done on the FIFA World Cup in Russia but as far as reports go, there wasn't enough interest for it to get significant attention. It was a nice take at publicity stunts but unfortunately it doesn't have the traction it needed. I'd say online shopping and the likes would certainly give a massive boost on widespread adoption because we obviously lack places to use our bitcoins. It would be way better accepting bitcoins as payment on the regular rather than sporting events which happens onlt a few times in a year.

Maybe they can put like an option which people can pay using cryptocurrency. I think that not many people are going to buy tickets using crypto because there are some that are not aware of it. Maybe some halftime prizes in NBA can be turn into crypto.

my point was that it can not be the "key to mass adoption" as your title suggests.
additionally i don't think countries creating their own cryptocurrency is going to change much about adoption of a decentralized currency like bitcoin or even legalization of it. it can go both ways. they can create their own coin while letting bitcoin grow or they can ban bitcoin while advertising their own coin as the only cryptocurrency people are allowed to use.

Dude,you're trying to make crypto into more of a sexist thing than it already is. Of course I am using a stereotype here, but it's not false, more women are involved in sports than in men.

Next, UEFA would never accept crypto. And, buying tickets or anything in crypto would rather prove more expensive when you can spend less using fiat. Crypto needs to go through regulation if it has to get adopted.

expose. (Where is Coinbase and all the Crypto currency companies, when we need them?) We have not seen any large

Sports is a relatively small sector. The true key to mass adoption is price stabilization and people actually using their crypto as currency instead of just hoarding it "for the moon"

You are right.With larger acceptance of cryptocurrency  and better implementing of blockchain technology  there will be no way to miss this niche.Right now it´s adopted for betting platforms,but allready some ICO´s are planning to reward thair platform users for sport activities.
I see lot of tournements in the future paying some kind of rewards in cryptocurrency,there are some suitable sports, just born for that.

Sports leagues accepting different cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin would really help increase the adoption rate of the said units. The only question that we can have here is whether will they really use it right now or in the future? We should know that people running this leagues are very traditional and use fiat in every transaction that they deal with. If we want them to accept cryptocurrencies, we really need to penetrate those folks and get their vote to at least try using cryptos as a method of payment.

Well, one positive thing about this is that there are so many betting sites that accepts different cryptocurrencies. These organizations are somehow related to those betting sites and they'll mostly heard about it one way or another.

Sports is a great tool for development, since there is a large number of people who follow sports, it can easily be used to promote bitcoin and the world of crypto to the  rest of world who have less knowledge on blockchain technology. I guess many upcoming projects that are based on sports would help promote this course.

Buying tickets to watch football match with bitcoin can be possible even at the moment since buying with fiat presently is by online booking. Likewise bitcoin too, it will be very possible and a way of promoting cryptocurrency.


A way of using it is when altcoins starts being demanded as means of payment either by exchanges or big outfits. Bitcoin is already being used so whoever is holding it is obviously doing that for it to appreciate more.

It is not a bad idea that sport sector will endorse bitcoin but the big question is that, who in the sport industry is ready to endorse the use of bitcoin in this sector? Most of the authorities in charge of the sport aspect do not buy into the idea of decentralization, they prefer centralization where a group of individuals or one person controls the outcome or transactions made .

Of course the answer is that it will not be strong enough to be part of a sport where we need support from various parties so that it can be realized well and smoothly, as well as unfavorable interests where this is something new and everyone is familiar with fiat as transaction tools without having to waste crypto at a low price as others think, they see that crypto is an investment, nothing is easy to launch in small or large scale sports events back to not much support.

It's already included as Sports betting sites. I don't know how to simplify it further. I don't see how bitcoin fits in the scenario here.

If its just one event that will accept Crypto as payment option then it may not be enough to gain attention. Boxing matches can be a good event to test this pay option since we hear like thousands of pay per view orders are made in a single event. If they accept Crypto as payment option, it could grab the attention of non Crypto holders.

I totally agree with you given the fact that thousands of people attend stadiums to go and watch and support their favorite team. There are so many sporting events taking place each and every week so liquidity will be ensured. This market really need to be looked at in order to scale mass adoption of cryptocurrency.

No, if we divided more specifically, it divided great large scale of coverage. The application of sports and included E-Sports right now with crypto can be really make Bitcoin or the alts that implemented in this area more stable

It is great if that case happening, but I think not all people wanted to be paid in crypto, and in some country crypto aren't allowed to become the legal payment, but if is implemented it will hugely increase the transaction volume which will be great for us, and it will be better if they only used a single crypto currency

Major Sports activities are only held few times annually,  so it won't have a full blown effect. I still believe that cryptocurrencies should be used in all business activities and transactions globally to be able achieve mass adoption

i will say this is feasible and it will start happening. whats i think the needs to be done is the safety of users, investors.  when this done, alot of the oppostion will start using it.

You made me realized that its really happening as far as I'm remebering some international events when each country unites to support their teams who's competing the competition.

It isn't a key but it can be a way to make the adoption higher but I like the idea and you noticed it. Usually these things aren't being noticed by the governments and if they will be together doing this and starting to give a statement of what to support that's the key. Voice of the government is still the key.

They aren't united in such events, it's just an illusion. Did you see what happened in fifa world cup 2018 final? I think man has be gentleman and you know what their president did, woman was in rain and instead of offering own umbrella, he just hang on.
Also currently it highly seems governments won't do that but if any bitcoin based company will be a partner of fifa, we have a good chance of releasing what you said.

Great content you put up Cryptocurrency can truly benefits from the unity in sports events to create a global usecase for cryptocurrency globally because either we like it or not sport unites ua either directly or indirectly. By capitalizing on this I believe massive adoption of cryptocurrencies is guaranteed.

Definitely, sport has a lot of power when it comes to spreading currencies (or cryptocurrencies) around the globe, but would it be fair enough to impose this process on humans right away? If gamblers for instance are left with nothing else but cryptocurrencies to pay for the odds, this would be unfair.

A good idea would probably be a combination of crypto and non-crypto methods.

Crypto does not need to replace existing forms, it should be an extra option people could use. Not forced upon anyone.

I see that now Crypto is sponsoring the English League Team, I think Crypto is still in the promotion stage to create mass adoption, if mass adoption has taken place, anything can happen including buying tickets to enter the stadium.

Yes i agree with your opinion, and i think now, there are already many proyek ICO using that concept. And we know there are still many people who don't know about crypto, maybe if concept like that already implemented crypto will increasingly famous and will give positive impact

Of course sport activities unite the world irrespective of political differences and the adoption of crypto currency as a means of payment in that kind of environment will go a long way in entrenching mass adoption. However, don't forget that every activities of football is regulated by a world body that determines virtually everything that happen in that game, up to the stadium, the people, officials, advertisers, fans and even footballs. It might sound as if FIFA is an independent body on its own but its still being indirectly controlled by machineries of government that determines those who run it's activities.

So rather, than going after FIFA that respect local laws, the main deciding factor is government and when that happens beyond sports, all other uniting means will fall in line.

Yes, this can be a great move if all the participants accept crypto currency as primary payments based on the country's regulation. We never know who will accept and who will not due to the present restriction is some countries. But for sure if its adopted its going to be great move gaining masses acceptance and also their change of habit by using crypto in their daily payment methods.

Using cryptocurrency in sports just like it was somehow experimented in Russia will quite interesting. Almost everyone one on earth has interest in at least one sport or the other. If Crypto can be used in transactions from ticketing to sports wears, it will someway, help to promote cryptocurrency.

It won't definitely massively increase the adoption instead it could help to spread the adoption. The term 'key' is a bit excessive word to use. Before we get adoption to get an expansion, we need to solve the scalability problem first. Good things the lightning network being developed.
