Just because a coin is currently enjoying a pump doesn't mean it's popular. I can find little reason for the current pump so suspect a price fall in the coming days or weeks for XRP. As for its overall popularity it interacts with some major banks and despite lots of discern about the not so decentralized nature of XRP it can easily attract many investors.

considering XRP was at it's peak was close to $4? it's not right to say popular in that sense, considering it lost 90% of it's value. it might be one of the highest marketcap coins but it's mostly living on the beginner-friendly and media-covered angle in my opinion, since it doesn't serve much use beyond "investing for profit" for regular people.

It can't because i believe it should be the short term pump because these pumpers are hyping the latest news about ripple have created an cooperation with so many banks. Ripple is popular among the bankers but not for the blockchain community. it has been used by so many speculators to earn decent profit through pump ripple instantly.

the technology behind the ripple, and also the bank that supports ripple makes it even stronger. and I'm sure the ripple value will continue to grow with that reason.

Its the bankers coin.  Huge centralized POS but if its been deemed the bankers coin then it will most likely outperform.  I own a .25 bitcoin  position at I think it was .26 cents. I plan on just holding it and see what happens.  It's a fairly small position so I'm gonna let it ride up to 2 bucks or so and try to squeeze out a few Bitcoins.

Just cause I hate bankers doesn't mean I won't use their asses.

I think that is due to the kind of sector that they serve, the coin is very fast so it is mostly serving payment outlets and such which means that it is very useful. Also from what I have noticed, it does seem like a lot of people are always investing in the coin which could explain why the price of the coin is always green and doing well.

Ripple is focused on cross-border payments in huge volumes, not the banking sector as a whole. Intra-Bank payments will be made by NEM, as well as inter-Bank payments within the country. We just have to wait for the catapults

Ripple is a well established company that continue to partners with banks and well known blockchain projects.They are also developing many financial products which includes international money and bank transfer. I even read two days ago that a top bank in the US want to be using their RippleNet blockchain for international money transfer.

ripple is popular because its blockchain is being used by several banking institutions.  it has been in existence for many years and it was only in year 2017 where things started to get interesting for ripple when several banks announced partnership with ripple and to use ripple blockchain technology. one problem for ripple i think is its wealth distribution, too little holders accounts for majority of the coins.

I think that it is popular only because it serves the banking system. I think that this is a very developed sphere and that deserves attention. I think that with the ripple you can get a good profit.

If we look back at History Ripple actually topped $3 in January this year before dropping back to $2 then falling with the rest of the coins in the downtrend. I don't stress about Ripple not being a truly decentralised crypto it is a Blockchain project that is pretty mainstream now and it has a good use case for speeding up banking transfers. I think it will do well in time so represents a good investment opportunity at the moment.

Ripple is very oldest project along with bitcoin & ripple is boom due to its Xrapid developments. Ripple generally have 3 product services for the clients Xrapid, Xcurrent & Xvia, Out of this 3 services XRP token Utilises Xrapid service only & earlier they were targeting customers based on the Xcurrent & Xvia service. They made partnerships with 120 brands including well know banks etc but that was not affecting the price of XRP as most of this brands were out of Xrapid service. Now the Ripple is expediting the developments of the Xrapid & concentrating more on Xrapid service that why the price of XRP is increasing. If the market condition will improve chances are there that XRP price will move around 5$ to 8$ very soon.

Ripple is not so popular as ethereum. overthrow the ethereum was impossible. Moreover, the ripple is not the kind of coin that is easy to accept the change or have it centered. However, it is for cooperation that networked indeed ripple many partnering with larger companies. but up to now the results of cooperation that has not provided a major influence on the price of a ripple.

The possibility of Ripple to outperform Ethereum in theory does exist, but for now it seems still quite difficult and requires a long time process. I think what makes Ripple famous is that there is a relationship or connection with a traditional bank.

Well the x rapid that might be launched next month is make ripple really hype right now, X rapid is already tested by western union and also there is bank that would use it for liquidity.

Ripple has risen 70% in the past 2 days, which is an amazing increase, and today I found that most altcoins are starting to rise, which may be a positive sign, we seem to see a bull coming soon.

As far as I know, xrp can be exchanged for foreign exchange, and it also has a partnership with the National Bank, so it seems to have something special in this context.

Since then, actually ripple was #2 for a short while.
It's crazy to think how much has changed.

Theirs a simple reason why ripple is so popular: people are greedy and stupid.
If you did even a tiny bit of research on the company, you would realize that you should stay far away.
First off, the company, Ripple, is totally centralized.
That means its a traditional corporation that does not have transparency and is designed to marginalize and dominate market sectors (in their case, the banking industry).
Crypto is supposed to be all about open source decentralization; we don't need more Goldman Sachs type businesses.

Also, ripple has always artificially pumped their own coin because they own a vast majority of them.
Money from nothing, yeah, I don't want to associate with that company.

Ripple is popular cause people are very happy to buy it. That's the simplest answer. In this market some coin is popular or or not it's decide the normal people. Cause at the end of the day every one need some high profit and some security where they invest. As a project, ripple has 2 flavor cause it's a crypto or it has many characteristics of crypto and as long as it is backed up by many bank. So there is nothing to worry. And when something is connected with banking system it's very good to give some profit to it's holder. I think that's the reasons ripple is up. And maybe it will overcome eth some day. I don't care if it someday cross Bitcoin that will be a matter.

A lot of positive news about this coin ! But special growth not in sight ! I don't think it will be worth much money in the coming years!

Some, recently upcoming news made Ripple pumping. Also the have several partnerships. The latest one is with Saudi
Arabia`s National Commercial Bank (NCB) as it seeks to dominance the largest banking institution in the Middle East.
I expect a correction on the following days.

The bank centralized coin very well approaches for currency the translations. People did not get used to decentralization yet. It is a transitional coin for banks.

Ripple has become so popular over the months, and I think that the coin has duly earned it. We have witnessed the coin overthrow the king of altcoins twice, and also experience many pumps in its price. I think that this is one of the major reasons why the coin has become so popular, and has won the hearts of many.

Except XRP is not a cryptocurrency, it's a centralized scamcoin based on the Ripple protocol.

Well, all the Ripple shills are very active or maybe very paid. I would't trust any baseless hype and that's what XRP is all about. It's never good if a coin price is only based on hype, this will always end deadly for normal investors.

The fact, that ETH is useful and XRP is only a shill hype.
