I am aware there are already dozens of threads addressing this issue, but most of these threads seem to be venting-threads for these newbies. If you are unaware of the new changes, the official announcement thread can be found here : https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5030366.0 . In summation, any Jr. Member without 1-merit has been demoted to Newbie and Newbies cannot utilize the signature feature or personal text feature without Copper Membership.

Now, I've already seen endless seas of Newbies complaining about the changes and this to me is a positive sign. Any Newbie with good intentions getting involved in this forum will not mind the changes, especially if they fully understood the situation we've been dealing with. We are only hearing from a loud minority of users that have malicious intentions of abusing our forum for economic gain and these people should be disregarded. Any Newbie concerned about this change can relax, as all you need to do is be a genuine member of the community and you will receive merit. There has been an increase of about 40% in the amount of Merit Sources, and many current Merit Sources have received an increase in the amount of merits they can distribute. 36-New Merit Sources and an increase in the amount of Merit many sources can distribute happening simultaneously with this change tells me something; theymos is not interested in leaving behind Newbie that are genuinely interested in getting involved on the forum. These restrictions will almost exclusively negatively effect those currently abusing the system. The new Merits will then be much more likely to end up on your posts, because your posts will no longer be buried in a sea of spam as those posting are mostly those genuine community members.

Long story short, theymos has shown real initiative towards dealing with our spam problem without harming newcomers, and in fact making their path a little brighter. This is nothing but a good thing for everybody besides those looking to abuse our system. There's nothing for Newbies to complain about. Convince me otherwise ;)

Totally agree with you! Though they lowered me in rank, but I was not upset! This gives me a greater incentive to write quality posts. I also see that the forum is cluttered with spam and offtopic, but new rules prevent it only before the first merit is received, and then everything will continue. I think that it is necessary to tighten the rules and make sure that all participants confirm their rank by earning a merit a week for example.

Then there's no point in trying. No one gives out merits. They like to keep them as trophies or use them to get attention. Giving them more wont change that. And the idea of trying t make money in a forum about currency is perfectly natural. I think you're going to see a sharp decline in people that even use this site.

And I see it's really helped your rank there noob. not one merit. This is idiotic and I don't even care about this site anymore. Just one more knock against crypto.

There are members always looking to reward quality posts. And there are also merit sources who were increased to further increase your chance.
I agree that people can use the forum for what they want, as far as its within the rules and guidelines.
But the pressure of a post target can drive people to make below par posts, even though they are knowledgeable about crypto. We are all here to learn and help, as well as earn

Stay relax body, this new meta will help the forum clean and respected! Controlling a spam post will give the forum untouchable and more new member will come because of their securities. Admins are trying best just to make people here simple, not only posting nonsense and this way the forum will be in big respect. Forget merits, and keep helping everyone. Time will come they will acknowledge your effort in helping everyone you could.

You can not ignore the fact that these changes will negatively affect the entire market, as well, since it is an ordinary discrimination.

I'm not so long ago on the site and these changes strongly led to my desire to stay here and wait for someone to appreciate me that would be at least Jr. Member, while I'm against the spam in which messages are lost.

There is no chance this negatively affects the entire market. I don't even know why you would say something like that. I'd like you to substantiate your claims or don't expect anyone to take them seriously.

Wrong. Almost everybody has given away all of their Merit, which is why there has been a decline in merit-sending in the past few months.
To counter this in an appropriate manner, theymos added more sources and increased the amount many current sources can send.


This tells me you do not understand how Merit works. sMerit and Merit are different.


You're free to try and make money, but you don't get to ruin the forum and community while you do so.

hmm so many senior member be happy about that,

so many dev use BTT for airdrop and bounty with simple task, like share, post prooft identificatipn, etc have been one most factor influence quality of post reply or quote.

its not a problem be downgrade, i see in this weeks, so many project have share without conclude BTT again, its a good news for newbie.

How about taking this as a chance to prove everyone that they were wrong and quality post the sh*t out of this forum? Instead of complaining...

Most of your posts are made in Altcoin boards. These boards are full of spam and it's difficult to get Merit there.

Balls. Retaining merit serves zero purpose and there are users like Jet Cash doing all they can to reward merit to newcomers. The fact that newcomers make it extremely hard on themselves by writing bilge in the main is of course on them. 

I can't say about that, as a new in this forum I think a good decision from admin, but it is a bit difficult for those who have just come new in to this forum. different for those who already have a high rank they are more experienced about it but surely this will make this forum better every decision gives two impacts, some are angry and some are happy ;D.

I am sure a lot of people on the forum are here only for the bounty campaigns and airdrops. So this decision will piss them off like crazy. Personally, I don't think this is very welcoming. I had the same feeling when I joined the crypto world in 2017, I thought I was too late. Hopefully the people in charge can come up with a better solution.

I agree with you and I think that rules will make this forum become more developed, I think this is the best decision from admin because some people can cheating if they have multiple account.
And I think this is dificult rules, but I will stay in this forum  ;)

hello friend; please  do not get upset.  Try to search something good from this new challenge.  Just try good; never expect for merit; just write good helping; motivating; knowledge giving posts. 
I am sure you will not only get merits but you will be promoted to next higher rank too.

You offer a way out of the situation? Do you have suggestions how to get rid of spam on the forum? In section altcoins, solid spam. No one reads messages on page 2 or 3. Read the first post or the topic title, and went to write shitpost. Honestly, I'm terrified of what I've done before and what other members are doing now in the pursuit of betting in bounty companies. What for? for 1,000 coins that won't bring you a million dollars? even $ 100. I of course, can be wrong, but I am sure that the last introduction news, motivate many participants to better work on the forum and me as well.
Many here say, about how that old-timers forum keep merit, as trophies! But I think it's all fiction. I read a lot on the new rules in a variety of topics and even argued with the old participants forum and they all say that the credit should be honest and deserved.

So even ETH or BCH is an Altcoin. I dont like BTC cause of Reason I often discussed.

The only reason I think is they want more cooper member to pay their servers or feel about running away old hero members and want to keep them with their "upper level feeling"

And I have left nearly BTC already, but for some reason I make some post here. 10x times more I make on Discord :-)

To say new newbies can not get junior without merrit is some ok. But put down the existing is an affront.

I had posts with pictures and people suddently complain why pictures not work? I thought it was a 1 day error until I find out my degrade without reason from admin.
