Title: Hate against bounty hunters!!!
Post by: PolinaCryptoN on September 19, 2018, 01:45:53 PM
I wanted to tell you  what I think about a statement in the title and also ask your opinion.

As I know, this forum was made for discussions mainly about Bitcoin, altcoins and cryptos, as well as many other topics. After reading some topics and its comments I felt like there was some sort of discrimination against, firstly, newbies and then against bounty hunters. If it's shameful to participate in bounties why is there a section about it (I want your opinion about this but plan to ask everything in the end).
There are problems about it which even I can understand, like spamming or shitposting, but instead of complaining why don't we think about solving the problem. I was thinking about this a lot, yet I couldn't come up with any ideas with the solution, but then the administrator reworked the newbie and jr. member system which I think was a fantastic idea. After this one, newbies won't try to post nonsense but will be determined to work on a quality post to get merits if they want to rank up. I hope most of the forum community understands that you shouldn't hunt merits down, but make quality posts and get experienced.

After theymos made the decision there must be less shitposting since you can't just write 30 posts and get the rank
1. No shitposting Until 30 posts.
2. No shitposting after becoming jr. member while participating in ICO since there is a restriction about symbols used and constructiveness.

Now back to bounty hunters and the problems community still face.
What do you think about some of the statements I'm interested in:
1. What does this forum mean to you? What do you like about it and why are you here?
2. Should bounties be attached to this website? Why or why not?
3. What else can we do against shitposting and spamming (or do we need to do anything at all?).
4. What do you think about the decision of the administrator?

I would really appreciate if you gave me some of your time to answer. Please try to convey your opinion without harassing anyone.
Thanks for your attention and have a good day!  :)

What is the purpose of your question/survey? Does it help you/us to come up with any better solution?

I found out almost everything I know about cryptoworld after participating in faucets, airdrops and bounties. Without that I wouldn't have found out anything about this forum and I really appreciate it, so I don't agree with you in taking out bounties from the website. We must encourage more and more people to discover forum and bounties are one of the options. We must grow big by developing bounty system.

The purpose was to come up with a better solution. And I have my own interest in it, Wanted to see this subject from others' perspective.

1. The forum is a community and we all know what happens inside a community!

I was engaged on faucet back then, until I saw the bounty section. But I just recently learned something greater in service discussion section.

2. Yes, because there is joy in giving and theymos stated:
I very much do not want to destroy the sig-ad/airdrop/bounty "industry".
I think theymos loves bounty too!

3. @Lafu answered it already, and be sure to check this - [Guide] Reporting effectively (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4519248.0), just in case you want to hunt spammers and plagiarists.

4. Good for the forum and bounty hunters too. But let's wait a little bit longer, theymos might implement something much harder.

I'd suggest you to change the title to Hate against SPAM Bounty Hunters.

I too hunt for bounties and it never hurts; but I try to avoid posting garbage and don't remember instances where I've faced hate for being a bounty hunter much.

Hate isn't for bounty hunters, hate is for spammer like you. I review your post history, only that post you made little bit longer. Others all are within 10/12 wrods and bounty reports. And as far as I know this is your first post on meta.
1. No shitposting Until 30 posts.
2. No shitposting after becoming jr. member while participating in ICO since there is a restriction about symbols used and constructiveness.
Not agree. No shitpost forever is better option. I can't realized why you quoting all the post. Avoid quite full reply if unnecessary.
Bounty hunters not a problem for forum, spamming is main issue. But unfortunately most of bounty hunters is spammers due to signature campaign.

3. What else can we do against shitposting and spamming (or do we need to do anything at all?).
Use report to moderator option if you found spamming.

4. What do you think about the decision of the administrator?

Positive. It's not only admin dicision, suggestion came out from well reputed forum members. You can call them forum assists.

OP, have you made a quality post worthy of merit and it was not merited, in your judgment? I know of Higher members who have volunteered to give merits to members. The only requirement was for you to post the link to your post you think is worthy of merit. Those who took advantage of the provision got merits. I am sure you did not even know about it.

Who then hates who?

If you can, submit your link(s) for me to review.

Its quite funny actually, without the alctoin section, bounty section, and paid signature campaigns this forum would be nearly dead and would lose at least 90% of its traffic.

I don't think that the goal was to delay shitposting, but rather to eliminate or at least greatly reduce it. Obviously stronger rules are needed to completely stop it, but there has to be a middle ground to make the forum hospitable for new members. A long time ago Newbies could only post in the beginner's section, which obviously isn't very useful at all.

To be more direct, newbies are not recognized in this forum, and this ugly trend is not a welcome development to this community.
If you watch very well, you will observed that  old guys here always focus on the mistakes newbies made thereby neglecting the quality posts of newbies.
You can't tell that all the posts demoted jr members have are useless to the extent of not getting even 1 merit.
Some demoted jr members have more than one hundred  posts and activity made in different days /months ,yet no merit has been given to them.
The question is ,how do newbies attain to high rank if this  trend continue ?

Like almost all newbies right now. It's a pain that you have to actually look at their post history now, because they might just be trying to post 1 good quality post, get their merit, and go back to their shitty spamming ways as soon as they can get enrolled on a campaign.

For one they can read the thread they are posting in and quoting and replying to opinions you disagree with and making an intelligent argument against them rather than just posting a vague paragraph long rant that does nothing but parrot the Op. It is abundantly clear that you did not read this entire thread before posting.

Secondly as to the bolded, I have seen no such thing. If you feel unwelcome its maybe because rather than trying to become part of the community you have decided to make the community conform to you.

See, I did it up there to show you how. ^^^

Actually the new rules imposed by theymos is not a hate for bounty hunters its for spammers and account farmers all over this forum they are rampant that need an immediate action like this, if most of us want to earn some extra money from this forum then do it in accordance with the forum rules and not creating multiple accounts to spam in signature campaigns dont bring all your friends here for a wrong purpose we are here to educate ourselves, to share knowledge to everyone earning money from this forum are only some good opportunity for all of us but not a livelihood its a different thing.

You can't tell that all the posts demoted jr members have are useless to the extent of not getting even 1 merit.
Some demoted jr members have more than one hundred  posts and activity made in different days /months ,yet no merit has been given to them.
The vast majority of those members not only don't deserve any merits, they don't deserve to even be members here.  They're parasites.

I've been trying to find low-ranked members to give merit to, and it is a mind-numbing task doing it the old-fashioned way, which is just by reading through threads.  Most newbies write one-line posts that don't really say anything, and in most cases what they write is totally sloppy.  This isn't the case with most of the posts from higher-ranked members.

The question is ,how do newbies attain to high rank if this  trend continue ?
If they can't earn merit, they won't rank up.  At this point, the average Newbie/Jr. Member has essentially ZERO chance of ever becoming Legendary.  Someone like nullius could do it, but he was a statistical anomaly, a 6-sigma member.

Like almost all newbies right now. It's a pain that you have to actually look at their post history now, because they might just be trying to post 1 good quality post, get their merit, and go back to their shitty spamming ways as soon as they can get enrolled on a campaign.
Yep, and this is why I always check post history before giving out merits to a low-ranked member (not that I've been able to give out many to noobs anyway, because I can't find any good posts made by them).

But I do suspect that many noobs are creating threads with their best effort ever, and that if they actually earn a merit they're going to immediately revert to their shitposting ways.  They'll never make it above Jr. Member anyway, but being a Newbie without a copper membership is a major handicap for them.

Answer:
1. Meaning: for me and for you too? A forum means an institution or agency, a forum, a forum where you can discuss common interests about Bitcoin, Cryto, Blockchain, coins, account problems, Red trust, Merit, etc.
In another sense the Forum means a meeting place to exchange positive ideas, the Forum is often used for scientific discussion, you can provide criticism and useful suggestions for Bitcointalk members?
I have summarized the following questions above, (What do you like about it and why are you here?)
(the one who likes to discuss Bitcoin etc, is in the Forum for scientific knowledge).

2. What do you mean? project bounty prize?
You can read this:

[Topic: Security bounties] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=309785.0)

[Topic: Giveaway threads are not allowed] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2103687.0)

[Topic: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2103594.0)

Or ask the moderator:

[mprep] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=51173)

3. Many things you can do to avoid (shitposting and spam) as long as you know the rules:
Rules can be read:

[Topic: Do not post off-topic replies] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=14356.0)

[Topic: FAQ: Everything you need to know about forum 'activity, account ranks and merit] (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2766177.0)

4. Final administrator decisions cannot be challenged? After positive and negative considerations, Final decisions.

I exemplify:
Exactly the decision taken by your country's president is absolutely final.

The situation that you are referring to does not make sense to me. Why do you think there is discrimination against bounty hunter? We are not just retweeting to get a few coins, we are the advertisement force in the crypto community. I would like to think that the frenzy that happened in 2017 was partly due to everyone participating in some sort of bounty campaign.
So don't feel bad if you are participant of a bounty. I also see a lot of legendary and more senior members participating in signature campaigns.
All in all, I approve the decision of the admins. I think it will help with shitposting. We just have to wait and see.

The sad part with bounty campaigns:

1) Many of them are scams to start with.
2) Giving shit-posters worthless tokens for disseminating spam on the forum.

Good bounty campaigns can provide an incentive for good content creation if they are selective and fussy with choosing their participants.

There are many bounty participants out there that do write decent articles and content.

It is a massive missed opportunity by the bounty if they do not actively encourage quality content.

1) The members that generally have the funds to invest generally would not bother checking out a campaign that employs deceptive methods or has poor quality standards.
2) Quality content - especially quality content that is relevant to a campaign can create interest in the campaign.
3) Quality bounty participants - regardless of rank can be good ambassadors of a campaign.

It is a massive missed opportunity.

Why do you have to make rules for something that is in the bounties own interest ?

There are already many rules that cover shit-posting.

The preference is for people to grow a brain and use some common sense.

Quality over quantity. Do bounties really think they can advertise and promote a product properly by employing account farmers with 20 fake twitter profiles that have over a 1000 followers that are all alts of account farmers that own less than $20 in crypto and use google translate to write content for native English speakers ?

Do they really think that people posting "good project" and various other posts by obvious shills make their project appealing to people who have the actual funds to invest ? Unless they are looking at selectively excluding people with common sense and are purely appealing to the "FOMO - I have just bought bitcoin and it is burning a hole in my pocket - it will all be will all be wasted on shit-tokens by the end of the week" type customers.

If bounties are that stupid - I doubt that they would bother reading rules.

What really impresses me is when someone from a developing country has taken the time to learn English to a reasonable standard, has written about a thought provoking topic that took them time but also shows intelligence. It shows that they take their job seriously and are keen to progress. I've seen numerous people like that quickly rise in the ranks of community promotion teams of different projects.

Unfortunately there are hordes of poor people that hear a rumor that they can earn $ by posting on here. It has resulted in a influx of members that like The Pharmacist said " are parasites".

They foolishly believe that they can earn by posting rubbish. They foolishly believe that the scams and low quality projects that they help promote and issue them with worthless tokens will somehow or someday lead them to riches.

I came across a thread about Bitcoin futures. It seems that many posters don't see a difference between bitcoin futures and its future.

The future of bitcoin is very clear and bright i mean it has a great future that will help billions of people. Bitcoin will still the number one coin in the market and bitcoin will be connected or affiliated with thousands of local and international companies, charities and foundations. With this it will help everyone with their life.

The future is clear and bright which means that it has great future!

Some research on how bitcoin will contribute to our daily lives like paying for your electricity bills and water. Buy your needs in a supermarket by bitcoin. Buy food with bitcoin. While suggestion and interest in participating in a newly established futures market associated with a 50-fold basic development tool can be extremely attractive, a risky approach will require differentiation. deeper than before the trigger. I think many people are hoping to get rich bitcoin. Electronic money goes on for all investors especially if its capital is very good for human capital when investing heavily.

Rich bitcoin FTW!

In the future, Bitcoin will be used as a valuable coin. People will be used to purchase tickets for travel, purchase as a payment, for exchange, trading or transfer and to make profit by investing.
Bitcoin future it become more valuable coins and it can use to purchase tickets for travel, bills payment and buying a stuff and also you can use investing and trading and exchange. Bitcoin is very useful in the future it makes things and easier for us.

i think bitcoin won't have the future man. it's go down a lot now.

there is no future...

And so it goes. 2/3 of this thread is filled with off-topic because they can't even read the first post.

This is the main reason why the forum is so hard to navigate. Spammers are responding to spam posts and adding more spam on top of it.

The situation that you are referring to does not make sense to me. Why do you think there is discrimination against bounty hunter?
This forum was not built to be a place to advertise altcoins FYI.
It was built in Satoshi's vision to promote bitcoin and to garner a community around them. Since altcoins became popular there started dedicated sections for them and so some shitcoins wanted their promotions as well by some sort of community participation. But today the scene has become such that the altcoin bounties are the reason why some bottom-feeding communities visit the forum.

99% of them dont give any contribution to the forum and just add in to the diarrhoea clean up headache of the mods.

We are not just retweeting to get a few coins, we are the advertisement force in the crypto community. I would like to think that the frenzy that happened in 2017 was partly due to everyone participating in some sort of bounty campaign.
Thats a very bold claim to make. The pump pf 2017 in my opinion was due the BCH fork and then price of bitcoin rising due to that followed by some legal authorities telling people not the invest in the same. That negative propaganda added fuel to the fire. It was not due to some "bounty hunters"

So don't feel bad if you are participant of a bounty. I also see a lot of legendary and more senior members participating in signature campaigns.
The difference is that some of them actually contribute to the forum's future and provide answers and valuable information to those who need it.

1) I used to come here many years ago. I did it as a guest and learned a lot from this community. I have no clue why i eventually registered here but i did it. I have always come here to read about some interesting subject or piece of suggestions. Passively. At the moment I'm active for a 1 bounty that i support as I can relate to the problems it tries to create solution to. I expect to hybernate after the project  and farm good info just like i did before.
2) I personally really don't like the bounty systems as they do create so much mess but I don't have a solution to offer here. maybe restrict all signature campainers only to subfolders somehow? how-don't ask :D
3)What is shitposting? bountyhunters who need to get their required post numbers up? people who doesn't speak well enough english to deliver their ideas? just dumb people or some who just have bad day? how  do you separate good ones from bad ones without hurting someone? Lets see how this new merit system settle down first and maybe then discuss about some more twists that might be added to the system :)
4) overall it was good thing, even though i had some issues with it myself too

This forum was not built to be a place to advertise altcoins FYI.
It was built in Satoshi's vision to promote bitcoin and to garner a community around them.

Exactly promoting Bitcoin. What is wrong with promoting alt coin and generally the crypto world on the side. Ethereum was once an ICO. I don't know if there was any bounty campaign for it, but I am sure people promoted it on the social media and look where it is now. It definitely helped the crypto world as a whole.

Well I agree that most newbies/Junior members are not helpful in the forum in general. But how can we? You have been around since 2016 and I didn't even know what Bitcoin is in 2016. So give us a chance of growing, gaining experience and I guarantee that one day when you "retire" we will help the newcomers.

I came across a thread about Bitcoin futures. It seems that many posters don't see a difference between bitcoin futures and its future.
I've seen threads like that before.  I think the misunderstanding is part of the language barrier culture we have here, where people who aren't fluent in English mistake bitcoin's future for bitcoin futures.  I almost chuckled out loud as I wrote that sentence, but it's the truth.

And I've seen many threads where all the shitposters know how to write is exactly what you quoted.  Bitcoin is great, has a bright future, is increasing day by day, etc.  It is maddening to read the same posts repeatedly, and the fact is that nearly all of these members are actually getting paid to write this crap.  You'd think it would be a simple job just writing something intelligent about something like bitcoin futures, but most bounty hunters are completely inept at writing.

I think a lot of them wouldn't even be able to form coherent sentences in their native language, and that's a harsh thing to say but I think it's true.  That's why they have to resort to plagiarism.  They have sweet fuck-all to say about crypto in general because they're just on bitcointalk for a "paycheck".  Those paychecks draw the lowest-brow mongoloids to the forum like little retarded bees pollinating a dead flower.  It is truly an ugly thing to behold.

The laughing gas has not worn off yet, just as I'd hoped for.

Funny.

Bounty campaigns are implemented for the promotion of the projects, why would you hate a person in a bounty campaign if he/she's doing good in posting?
Please hate the spammers here not the bounty hunters, If you see someone abusing the bounty then that's a bounty abuser, basic logic. Spammers, bounty abusers, and bounty hunters are different from each other okay?

1. No shitposting Until 30 posts.
2. No shitposting after becoming jr. member while participating in ICO since there is a restriction about symbols used and constructiveness.

Why would you limit your "no shitposting" count until 30? Instead of that, why don't you change it into "No shitposting forever"? and obviously a person who talks about ranks and participating ICO, then you're a bounty hunter also.

1. What does this forum mean to you? What do you like about it and why are you here?

Knowledge and our nation has a special local board here so it's really interesting to have a discussion with our fellow members. And you?  ???

2. Should bounties be attached to this website? Why or why not?

As long it's related to crypto, why not?  ;)
It's a crypto forum, what do you expect? pure ideas and guides? lol
money-related topics will always be open in here.

3. What else can we do against shitposting and spamming (or do we need to do anything at all?).

Think!, If i have idea about diminishing shitposts and spamming then i'll create a thread about it.
The idea of having a merit requirement in Jr.Members is my first objective so I'll think another one.

4. What do you think about the decision of the administrator?

decision of what? well, the idea has been extracted many times and I think it's the best solution for now.  ;)

Exactly promoting Bitcoin. What is wrong with promoting alt coin and generally the crypto world on the side.
Promoting altcoins was not what this forum was built for. They came in as a sidekick to bitcoin and since they became popular in some niche communities the forum admins thought of adding section relevant for their discussion. The fact that some shitcoins use bitcoin's popularity and buzz in the internet to promote themselves is plain wrong.

That does not prove anything. You are giving the example of the ONLY ICO in the cryptocurrency world which gave the biggest ROI till date. Again that does not prove that copycats of it will be similarly popular even if promote extensively by some specific gangs of accounts. 99% of ICOs today are plain shitcoins.

Its very simple if you use your common sense. Look around the forum forum first. As a junior member your job is to make sure you know all forum rules and follow them meticulously. Then start gaining knowledge on crypto from reading different threads and what people have to say in them. With time you will develop your own mode of understanding and opinion.
Simply coming to this forum to spam some twitter reports makes it look like a junkyard doesnt it? ;)

The bounty hunters and their scammy ICOs  are the reason governments are considering implementing Draconian controls on the better cryptos such as Bitcoin. Why should we reward them for that? Shouldn't we be trying to restrict their activities, rather than encouraging them?

We know that majority of us are joining projects or promotions here, so bounty hunters is part of this forum also. But for some reason we need to control our self, so no bounty hunters are excuse for this. If you want to be a better one here then cooperate and not focus only on your weekly report. Even legendary's here are promoting a coins also, so if you are newbie or got demoted you should make a way to earn your trust. I am one of the newbies but I'll try my best to be active here not only my weekly report but also engaging other thread to learn more.

I think you create this post in the hope to get merit. I'm have neutral relationship to bounty because it's a part of this forum.
I have copper, why would I be in a need for merit?
I heard somewhere that copper without merit was going to lose sig privileges.
Bring it on, surely a lot of butthurt newbies will gonna cry out. Like obviously they see it as life saver.

Some demoted jr members have more than one hundred  posts and activity made in different days /months ,yet no merit has been given to them.
The question is ,how do newbies attain to high rank if this  trend continue ?
Even they post thousands when everything was just a shit then it will be useless. This won't be a trend if newbies will learn on how to have a healthy interaction among the community. Idk why they having a hard time doing this like it's just a normal thing to do in forum, maybe they just used in posting bounty reports otherwise creating useful stuff will make them sick.

You can't tell that all the posts demoted jr members have are useless to the extent of not getting even 1 merit.
Some demoted jr members have more than one hundred  posts and activity made in different days /months ,yet no merit has been given to them.

yes we can - 100 posts? how about the pajeets with 1000 posts.. 99% are bounty shit and the other 1% is either copy and paste or total shite.  so what if they post them in different months, they are total horse shit

I'm still seeing a lot of shit posters and these are from ICO that they want to hype, this made me think that there is service for this to generate interest from potential investors by making it look that the project is great and people are supporting it, we should flagged those offering this kind of service.

Good, but IMO he's too kind.

I'll settle for far too kind, I think the idea of bounty hunting like I'd agree with one of the current project CEOs is to connect investors to ICO projects, but this has been abused. Now, bounty hunters connect bounty hunters to projects. And sadly, this defeats the objective.

However, bounty hunter has been stripped down to its 'naked sense,' and frankly, right now it makes no sense. Nonetheless, there are projects out there worth announcing (a very few of them, if I might add), and the whole crypto space is now choked with redundancies.

The sane way out of this mess is to beef-up administrative infrastructures, stipulate new rules and ensure that there are automated processes to handle discrepancies. So far the BTT mods have been doing an excellent job managing thus far.

Because you need merit to join into the higher bounties than copper membership can give

The question is ,how do newbies attain to high rank if this  trend continue ?

Work harder on your post maybe!

Your first idea for me is vague please do elaborate.

Quote
1. What does this forum mean to you? What do you like about it and why are you here?

Well, honestly I am here to earn a little bucks through micro earnings. What i liked about the forum is that I can learn so many ways of earning or how to use bitcoin. Plus i know the latest news about crypto and how to deal with it.

Quote
2. Should bounties be attached to this website? Why or why not?
For me no because once those certain users are only up for bounties they will surely do not contribute something at all. If we allow them to grow like that here then that is a big problem IMO

Quote
3. What else can we do against shitposting and spamming (or do we need to do anything at all?).

As a individual the only thing you could to is to start changing from yourself. If you can do that then you already is contributing something to this forum.
Reporting can help to remove spam but it will still go back. We are in forum and this a collaborative effort that everyone should participate.
You know what spamming is
You know what trolling, scamming is all about and you will start to avoid then thank you.

4. What do you think about the decision of the administrator?

They know what they are doing so we just have to support and share our thoughts that they might consider
