Title: Bitcoin is a word
Post by: BitCoinDream on March 06, 2014, 07:04:16 AM
When I write Bitcoin, Google chrome marks a red underline. Does not Google know that Bitcoin is a word ? When r we going to see this word as a part of Oxford dictionary ?

There are many longstanding words in the dictionary which I use that Chrome doesn't have in its dictionary, e.g. tsuris.

Bitcoin is (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/bitcoin) in the OED. ::) Incidentally, your usage of the letter r is not (http://www.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/english/r).

Strange. It doesn't give me a red line. Maybe I added "bitcoin" to my Chrome dictionary a while back and forgot about it.

when I used internet explorer, not only did it underline Bitcoin with a redline, it also exploded my computer

Lesson Learned? Do Not Use Internet Explorer.

Curious - "flavour" and "colour" are both fine (no red line) in my Chrome (well, Chromium). (Though, I did notice that "british" and "english" are red-lined - until they're capitalised). You sure your Chrome is set up to use the right locale?

Nope! Red line for "bitcoin" and "Bitcoin".

Bitcoin is not "accepted" by the Firefox spell check either.
Things like this take time, maybe within a few years.

If "bitcoin" is underlined in Chrome browser, right click on the word and select "add to dictionary". Chrome will not bother you again.
