Title: What do you think about the talk: 'Alt-coins dying off in 2019'?

Hi there,

Now I've seen quite a few posts and different sources speculating that in 2019 Altcoins will die off. (probably with the exception of Ethereum)

Now of course, we've all seen the 'Bitcoin is doomed!!!! ::)) posts.
But i was wandering your thoughts on Altcoins near future.
I'd like to do some trading with Altcoins, to get more bitcoins of course.
But.. I'd like to hear some opinions on the Altcoins future in the next 12 months. Are they going to keep going as they have been for the last 12months - following BTC as a general rule of thumb?
My next investment will be into some Altcoins hopefully. But these 'doom' posts have kept me on the fence as of yet.

Most of the top altcoins would likely be fine, I'm not saying that they will all gain as much as Bitcoin will, but most of the top 50 altcoins will not suddenly disappear.
What we will see is that a large number of ICOs will go under next year. Projects that have just done an ICO as a quick money-grab, without actually having a feasible product or service to offer.

Not that this is a bad thing, the sooner people learn that they shouldn't invest in worthless projects, the better.

There are also speculations that ETH's value will go down to zero and i considered it as speculations to create FUD among the community thus make the weak hands give up their portfolio that easy. There are altcoins out there that if you wanna do some trading/scalping will give you ample amount of profit in the future but you've got to take the risk by holding them for some time, that is my observation. Just choose the right coins probably those which belong in the top 20 on the market cap.

ye, i think with time a lot of useless altcoins will die, however some of the altcoins have really interesting ideas which i think will live through this "cleanse"

Many altcoins will be used to accumulate bitcoin by means of trading and this will be happened if a certain altcoin doesn't have working product and doesn't been develop. Altcoin does not have community to support its project will be doomed.

Yes I thought of this also, more altcoins will die in the upcoming years especially with the altcoins who have no use-case in this crypto world. Otherwise the altcoins on top of the chart and are very useful nowadays and on the future will never die or fade off. I really believe this useful altcoins will somehow rule the future technology for good.

I arrived on the scene last year, and my first alt was Dogecoin (big surprise right) but then after learning more about the different uses and purposes, I was convinced enough to get Monero, of which I am probably the happiest among all my alts, plus also Litecoin, merely for the purpose of fast payments with existing network of merchants.

Did I go for other alts? Yes, I actually invested in two ICOs. Did I go crazy for others? No, but I did buy a handful just to spend a bit of my bitcoin, but BTC at the time as it is today still accounts for more than I guess 70%. I still really like Waves, and even though the Elastic I bought is never coming back up, my hopes for them remain.

Did I also try to get into other alts for speculation? Of course and I made some profits too, but now the ones I entered even Ether this year at $400 are down. Do I believe in them? Only for price. So will they die? Probably, because everyone came into them for profit.

But Monero, Litecoin, those types, they won't die.

Okay you saw last 24 hours! The whole market is pumping including bitcoin and ripple is just going crazy. Eth making steady growth after falling too much. BTC dominance is decreasing and This is certainly a recovery phase for the market. If you are into trading I'd advise picking some of top alts and trade into them. 2019 will be a good year for btc and alts(of course project with just some insane idea, whitepaper and nothing real product might go down into black holes). But real projects with complete future plans will definitely gain more success over the time.

I do not take seriously these conversations yet. While this is all at the level of someone else's opinion. But what will actually happen to the future of the altcoins? We just do not know. So, I hope we can pass.

Might partially agree with that the altcoins in 2019 will die. I'd rather say that some of them will survive, which will really be needed in working with platforms and will be useful. Those who do not show proper development will go into recycling the market.

It's stiil good to invest on altcoins because its have a small value ,  but 24 hours is not enough to gain profit since we are not in the bull run though cryptocurrencies are slowly recovering but it need atleast 3 to 4 months to fully recover.

I read somewhere, crypto is a car, and we drive it. So if we drive it right way, crypto never die.
Only high quality coins will survive, any scam and low quality coins will die, in my opinion.

Of course, not all altcoins will die, but i think in one year there will be new altcoins that are hot. Only a handful of altcoins will be able to prevail.

Good glad to hear this.
I too noticed ripple went up around 40% in 24hours, i mean that's huge!!
So I started pondering on doing some trading with some promising coins. However I wasn't sure whether holding onto altcoins was a risky endeavor.
I had thought of doing short trades on them what with all the fluctuations the market sees.

A few coins in the top 10 have dropped 70 - 80% in the last 30 days. So, presuming they go up again. That's quite a serious return on holding them for a bit.
I'll wait for the next dip then grab some.
However, I don't really know which ones have a promising future (does anyone i guess  :))

Where's the best place to read up on which Alt-coins have a good community and developers behind it - for a layman.? I'm new to this all and I don't yet know how to read the fine-print so to speak.
From where I'm looking - ADA, Stella and Tron all seem pretty reliable - purely from a charts perspective.. I have no idea what their real world uses are yet.
Monero is the privacy coin right? That obviously has uses.. but yet it's seen the least gains in this latest pump compared to the other alts i listed above.

there will be of course many altcoins die and this are not good or useless coins. there are always people that want to discourage other because maybe they lost money and lost hope. and for bitcoin there was a site that said bitcoin died for almost 300 times and maybe there are counts that are not included. crypto will die if there is no one using it anymore.

What's new? i think its normal in Crypto-Space to "Speculate" and even "Fudding" this is just a part of a colorful "Crypto Environment" but if you want a concrete proof about Bitcoin just look back until 2009 when Bitcoin rises from scratch to what it is today and compare it. from "0" value to $6000+ and even reach the ATH $19000+ and its clear bitcoin has survive in 9 years already. this is also applicable to Altcoins some will survive and others will eventually die in the process. just wisely choose and Altcoins that has true use and demand if you cant afford the top existing Altcoins to Hold.

Well it's a positive thing though if shitty alts would all lose value next year. These alts are only giving negative effects to the market and most legit alts with good and real projects anyways will eventually find their way to growing.

Well we need to think in a positive way no one cannot predict the future of altcoins, as of now the market situation is growing slowly. Yes due to some scam ICO most of them lose hope like it has not a good future. Patience prevails just wait and see.

It's true that most of the altcoin will gradually die off because of its no real use. Most of the projects are copy/pasted from others and add nothing new value. Those will die off for sure. Again, when cryptocurrency will be in the mainstream, 90% of the altcoin will vanish because there will be no use for them.

I think that here as elsewhere in matters of Finance you need patience and foresight but the first is more important!!
As for the forecasts and predictions about individual altcoins is all at the moment is not appropriate because they are at the very beginning of their journey but-what they came to an end-it's a big mistake and the explanation for this is very much.Take only one institutional investment in individual projects as the engine of the crypto-industry of fast money. A sharp stop and reset will affect a very large area in the crypto industry and lead to a collapse of investment arteries!

More than half of altcoins can die and it's really true, but not this year. Despite the fact that the market has fallen so much, it will not have an impact on the extinction of altcoins.

I think we will see a huge number of new projects in 2019, altcoins are a kind of mechanism that pumps up the capitalization of the cryptocurrency and they can't dead. I think next year we will see a multiple increase in market capitalization and an increase in the number of altcoins.

I dont believe altcoin will be dead in 2019. Altcoin will be still exist, because its alternative investment beside bitcoin. Many altcoin have good product and solid developers team. Altcoin with good and working product will survive in 2019 and maybe worth to hold for long term

I think many of the alt coins may in fact disappear but there will be new ones to take it place and the alt coin space will eventually be filled with quality projects and tech advancements.  People will always want to be in alts so they can gain more Bitcoin.  One nice alt coin pick gains you many Bitcoins if you put down a half decent amount.  As always you can get Rekt as well.  I think alts will always be around.  Maybe just not these ones.

Ill think it's not gonna happen the altcoins dying on 2019, Maybe it will have to many of them spreading in the exchange and have some potential to earn of it. And maybe some of them have some potential also increase the prices.

Do not worry too much about those people that say that altcoins are going to die about that time, it is true that many altcoins disappear after just a few months or a year but each year new altcoins replace them so there are always going to be altcoins in this market, because even if bitcoin is the best cryptocurrency that we have it cannot do everything, there are several other projects that offer great functionality and that is way they exist.

to me precisely in the year 2019 there will be an increase of better than this year. because of course when a sharp decline is happening this year. certainly the team also learnt from experience, and continue to correct the mistakes. until 2019 will be better.

Based on what reason that all the altcoin will died? I think there isn't a reason that all altcoin will died. Only some altcoins will died due to the lack of good concept, support from the community or the developer itself.
