Due to recent good news from the Ripple on their Xrapid Development price of the XRP coin is booming. As per the CMC total market capitalization of the Ethereum on CMC is $23,347,677,622 & Ripple is $23,343,115,883 Billion which is very near. Looks like ethereum will loose rank 2 if the price of the ripple will increase more. Whats your thought on this????

It happened before that XRP replace ETH on a number 2 spot but it will not last for months. ETH now still on top but of course if XRP continues to pump like this, then we are entering in a bull market again since many investors are coming in and XRP may take the lead agains ETH.

Yep ripple took that number two spot just like that and been holding on very decently, Ethereum is now trying to catch up and currently gaining value, while ripple is resting at its current phase after it mooned early afternoon. Way i see it it will be a battle between Ethereum and Ripple.

After ethereum losing number 2 position and replace by ripple, ethereum come back with the increase of the volume and marketcap. It's more interesting because the cheap coin price can replace the position for a while although it's not too long for ethereum to retake place. I wonder, if this is going happen again and ripple can increase more, then the number 2 position can change back, and ethereum will satisfy in the third positions. But it will need a big effort from ripple itself since the competitor is ethereum.

It depends, if the aim of the developers of the coin was to try to replace bitcoin or ethereum and try to take their spots then it is very important, but if the goal of the developers was to create a product or service that solved a necessity regardless of its position in the ranking of the coins, then it is not important as long as they can fulfill their mission and their goals.
