Some people related to crypto ended their vacations and ready for some game.
What will happen to other altcoins

It's  temporarily because XRP was pumped and ETH was dumped. We will see Etherium #2 behind Bitcoin soon again. I don't like XRP because it's not really decentralized.

Last year also Ripple and Ethereum moved in and out of the second spot similarly. Their marketcaps are very close so Ethereum can get  back into the second place again in future.

Lucky for those who able to ride the train seems that XRP are now beginning to pumped hardly again, almost approaching to a 1$ value, but knowing
how ETH can cope up and regain that position is widely possible, let see how long this race chasing bitcoin will continue between this two well known
project.

it did not last long, now eth is back second, even if the gap between the 2 altcoins is very little.I honestly do not understand all this interest in ripple. it goes against the idea of decentralization with which BTC was born. I find Stellar and Ada Cardano much more interesting

I think this is temporary. The massive spike in the XRP price will eventually stop, sooner or later there'll be a correction and price will go down again (will probably be a good opportunity to buy cheap again). Plus, the ETH price has been suffering a long downtrend for the past few weeks, but it's a matter of time before there's a reversal in market sentiment and the ETH goes up again taking the #2 spot yet again.

but i think temporary bcs ETH will growth again ;)

I think it will be short lived, and will fall to the third place soon. It has pumped a lot and i am expecting it to lose some value. I dont have an high opinion about ripple anyways

so this will be second time for XRP beating ETH ,
but it will be not a really for a long time, i guess
some rumors say XRP will continue to grow.
so that mean , eth must have heavy pumping,

Ripple's pump is a good movement for the crypto market but if they can't come with good news as they promised, I think the project will crash so hard.

You are now comparing these 2 coins with each other. But the problem is that they are not competitors to each other. The spheres of activity of these coins are completely different. A ripple is a Bank coin, and a ripple is a centralized coin.

From $0.7 (XRP) down now to $0.5 but its still high compare to the past price. It's temporay and at least it was able to reach at #2 and now they switched positions and ETH is the one that's starting to pump again. I only see this as a very positive impact to the whole market.

I have ripple coin in my wallet and Im happy of ripple achive right now and i hope it will continue.

In 2017, it had passed 2 times. But it didn't take too long. It will be the same way. I don't think it will be permanent.

Ripple shoot up at .7769 us dollar that is almost 75 percentage gain, ripple continuous to lead the market on an upward  trend  and still holding  decently at aroung .55 to .60 us dollars. It might shoot to the moon anytime now with kind of gain. Though  forecast shows its bearish there is a slim chance  of decline. This might be due to investors positioning at an early stage.

It only lasted for couple of hours. Honestly, I was surprised when it pumped today but see ETH didn't give up and still currently got the #2 spot. Can someone let me know why XRP pumped? Any news about it. I'm not a fan of XRP and always a supporter of ETH but still I am quite amazed with the movement. Is this something that whales did? Hmmm

   Yesterday, ripple outperformed ethereum in terms of capitalization for only a few hours.  And in both coins was then more than 23 billion of capitalization, but ripple was slightly ahead. Ripple coin gets big price spike pumps and retraces most of those so it is back to number 3 position. Anyway, it is nice big green day for most cryptos and hope it continues that way.

indeed ripple once took second place from ethereum, but it didn't last long and now ripple wants to take it back. remember, there is still a 1 billion dollar difference if the ripple wants to achieve it. hopefully this is not only the pump and ripple can maintain it.

As i see now XRP is number 3 again . But it is very close to ETH, so i think we will see some kind of market competition during coming days.

Im a bit surprised to heard and saw the news today about XRP surpassed ethereum and become #2 cryptocurrency next to bitcoin. But what more surprising is that there are no news and updates in what happen to ethereum. Do you think ethereum will comeback or will XRP continue dominating all altcoins?

Twice a year. But it can never be permanent. I don't believe you can go through permanently.

Hope this will be the beggining of a next bull run or atleast something like that been a rough couple of months wanted to buy something this december  i think this massive gains are about the COIL on twitch ? or something liked that havent heard or never read any news regarding xrp or any centralized coins i bet xrp will reach 3$+ again and the news ( CNBC ) is not mentioning it which is another bull sign

Unfortunately Ripple was number two but only about 6 hours, at first I was surprised because Ripple rose more than 80% and now Ripple is back in third place, I hope Ripple will skyrocket again and become number # 2 making competition more interesting.

That fluctuation of price seemingly good so Ethereum creator will make some steps to improve their strategies and helping it to go along with the market competition. But I don't think it won't take to long, it may back to normal possibly next week.
We can't deny also how Ripple being a competitive coin in the market before, and it dump suddenly. But now, it came into great surge which surprised everyone and never expect it could be in 2nd place in CMC.

previously I was very surprised by the shifting of the second place by Ripple ethereum, maybe it won't last long because now ethereum is experiencing a bad crisis and when it gets better for ethereum conditions its position will be recaptured.

The project and the partnerships who they have done are a great potential. Therefore the whole alt coin market needs a start, because the alt season is coming and I think that it is started with Ripple.

Xrp are obviously in stage of pumped, So I don't believed it will stand long. And Xrp are just controlled by the manipulators which are the big investors. Though, for now Ethereum was also in dumped stage in the market, but lets see in the long run who will be the no. 2 altcoins in this industry.

Yeah, pump on the ripple, it's a very steady process that I see every year because the value of the ripple is too easy for the big guys to manipulate, they can accumulate a large amount very quickly then combine together and explode. However, we can see clearly that this is just a temporary, it can not maintain and rob the location of eth, even if eth becomes so weak as it is now, it's still the king of altcoin, wanting to beat it right now is impossible, ripple just a trivial soldier name, can not compare to eth

Well any coin that goes up that quick is likely pumped and i think most of us know that. It's just good for those who had xrp at this time. Eventually though there will be a recoil. Pretty sure ethereum will regain it's number 2 spot. If it hadn't yet at this time.

i want to know what vitalik butterin gonna say's about this situation, i think this competition on volume market are good for us..

As I remember, XRP last year also had a very strong rally and then the market went up and reached the highest price, I hope this is a positive signal for the market as it happens very similar as of 2017

This movement of the XRP excited us all, didn't it?  :) The vitality of mobility came to the market. But it's too early to say the bear season is over.

I notice that ETH and XRP will take turns to occupy the second position on coinmarketcap. In January this year, XRP overtakes ETH in second place before the XRP went under a major correction. ETH then occupied the second place. Now that XRP passes ETH in market cap, does it signal that ETH will start to rally to fight for its position for the spot?

This is a good sign for the whole market. Investors will believe in cryptocurrencies again. ETF solution coming soon and we will see a good increase in value.

Just a short time :). Last year XRP also did the same thing but also just a short time and after that ETH came back and go to the moon very quickly :))). At the moment, after taking back the 2nd place, ETH price has increased more than $20 in price and seem like it'll be the same with last year. LOL.

What do you think will Ripple cost 1 dollar? And maybe more? Today, many channels in Telegrams write about this and give signals) It is not necessary to open short positions =)

xrp can have a good development that is a position that is expected by many people, now ripple still needs a lot of evidence to be able to continue to be a potential coin in cryptocurrency.

I think it's not for long. Seems like Ripple is becoming this year bull markets pioneer, but I believe Ethereum will follow very soon and get his second place back.

I'm quite sure the price will drop, not sure how much though. Anytime there's a sharp increase in price, you can expect a pullback.

Hopefully this reversal will hold. If you look at the weekly chart of XRP, the 25 cent area last year was the start of the crazy alt bubble and we went there exactly and found support twice in the past this month.

So hopefully this isn't a fake out and continues its uptrend into at least the >$1 range and the other markets should move also as confidence is restored in the markets.

This second place battle is too exciting, but unfortunately it didn't take long for ETH to be overtaken, and then the currency market was flat. I hope that XRP will continue to work harder and regain the second place.

The price rise is good news for those of us who believe in XRP, but we need to remember the lessons from earlier this year. XRP rose way too quickly, and fell just as dramatically. Sudden huge rises in general are unsustainble, what we need is solid growth supported by periods of stability.

it's already happen: eth is back and got a lot growing potential (regarding this huge price drop).

i like this kind of situation, another massive pump by some good news on altcoin, even a bad trader can make huge profit in 2 days trading..

hope these news will affect the whole market into the bullish turn. we've been waiting so long for this. prices are very good for investors atm so let's hope and observe.

I think that it's fair to have price/adoption correlation and ETH is used much more by various people across the globe.

that's right, all of that only takes place in an instant because ethereum is easy to go back up, if we look at the transaction 24H XRP has a bigger number than ethereum but ethereum enthusiasts are still very much so it only differs slightly.

Ripple that skyrocketed and had reached second place is a good thing, I hope this often happens in other crypto that makes users excited, and in my opinion it's time for ethereum to become number # 1 to replace bitcoin so that makes it interesting for investors.

Exactly this two "Top Altcoins" are Both in Good shape last Year. But now Ethereum just mess up temporarily due to heavy dumping On other side Ripple's XRP is soaring fast. I cant see any sign of Pump and Dump on XRP rally but I'm sure its solid and not just and ordinary Pump. Im Hodl both XRP and Ethereum and I don' care if its Decentralized or Centralized the more important is its gaining momentum now.

Generally speaking, the situation on the crypto-currency market has changed again and the etherium is also on the second place. Concerning Ripple, I want to say that the banking system is interested in the growth of this coin and therefore artificially can raise its value.

This was really a huge surprise as no one expected that XRP can bounce back so strongly as it had almost no takers sort of coin it has become. But suddenly with the surge happening this it seems it will become a good buy and start to invest in the coin again.
