"ICO"

Technically perhaps not a word but annoying nonetheless. I think the world would be a much better place if the word and the actual ICOs would just disappear one day.

"Sir" used to annoy me, but I've got used to it now.

"Merit" has become annoying.

"Newbie" is the latest one, but only when it is used to refer to a spambie.

Thank you sir. Now I actually know how to trigger all of these newbies, who have no merit, but are still trying to get into an ICO. Please post more sir due to the fact that I want you to.

Nah but seriously, I've always joked about a few things that come up either from Google translate or a weird grasp on the English language.

"Avail". I've never in my entire life heard someone say this other than "...to no avail." Anything else is just strange. "I will avail to earn Bit-Coins." ::)

"Entreat". Another hilarious and odd word choice. " Entreat me to Bit Coins!!"

Oh and last but not least, when people make grammatical errors like "your an idiot" or "please advice me". In case you aren't sure what the mistakes are there, " You're an idiot." And "Please advise me." Would be correct.

I will now avail to find some newbies in ICO threads and Entreat them to some actual merits, sir.

Please sir hilarious sir please unban my account sir I didn't mean to copy and paste all my posts sir I need that account to feed my family sir. Please sir I'm begging you sir.

Boils my piss when people use it every other word and practically as a replacement for a period (or a full stop if you speak proper English  :D).

Does that work? We need to advise the girls so that they can avail themselves of the concept. I entreat you not to hide this under a bush. :)

It sounds like a good labour saving device.

"hardwork" comes to mind, since it isn't one word but tends to get written that way by shitposters.

"dump/pump" are pet peeves of mine, since they get mostly written by people who don't speak English and are just parroting what they read here.  This is apparent when you read sentences like "The market is dump today.  Wait for pump and you will profit for sure".

"Hodl" was cute at first, but it a "word" that's been co-opted by the illiterati who tend to overuse it.

I'm sure there are many others I could think of, but I haven't started drinking my coffee yet.

Few weeks ago it was " Very interesting project , Good .......... and all that Spam things"

this changed the last weeks to  " Good luck fellows  ,  Good luck DEV's "

and there are others too as already mentioned in previous posts  "ICO , Merit and .........  " .

But personal it was " Join Airdrop , Bounty , profit " .

Ok, let me talk about why I don't like the word "Sir".

In our country, The word "Sir" dictionary interpretation is a polite language for adult males. It has been used for more than 1,000 years. In ancient times, this word was often used to refer to those who are highly respected, such as scholars and teachers.

But now the usage of the word has changed a bit. Usually only the service industry will use the word now. For example, the waiter in a restaurant or hotel will call me "Sir" , For friends, we will only call them nicknames. For online/forum friends usually refer to the other party as "my friend" or account username.
If someone uses the word "Sir" to call me in a forum, it seems to me that who have a "self-deprecating" meaning, and I am usually more willing to regard netizens as "friends" rather than "waiters."

So I don't like someone calls me "Sir" , and I don't like to see who uses this word in forums.
Forgive me for broken English, but I think you also have the same feelings for the word “Sir”.

"Sir" is derived from the word "Sire", or "seigneur" in some other countries, and it was a form of address used when talking to a feudal lord, possibly a knight or a baronet. It was used by the serfs. It doesn't really have a use in the modern world other than as an obsequious form of address used by a shop assistant or waiter.

I don't know much about Western knight culture, but in some ancient cultures in the East, the word “Sir” has a similar usage to the West in ancient times. sometimes, it is used to refer to feudal lords who have no title.
But now, besides I can hear the waiter call me like this, I can rarely hear who called me like this.
At least in our country, it has some derogatory ingredients in it, Perhaps the word has no derogatory use in Southeast Asia and is more widely used.
If anyone knows more about the usage of this word in Southeast Asia, you can make an explanation about how use of this word in Southeast Asia.I am very interested in this.

"hardwork" comes to mind, since it isn't one word but tends to get written that way by shitposters.

This annoys me more not because of how they make it one word, but they use it to refer to bounty campaigns, as if spamming their bounty crap over every platform they can find is anything even remotely approaching "hard work".

It doesn't really have a use in the modern world other than as an obsequious form of address used by a shop assistant or waiter.

As much as I loathe it being used in the forum, I actually use the word "sir" in my professional life to address male patients above a certain age I'm meeting for the first time. Where I work, these patients tend to want a more formal relationship, and "Hello sir, my name's Dr. X. How are you doing today?" is a nice way to establish that from the outset.

So I don't like someone calls me "Sir" , and I don't like to see who uses this word in forums.
Forgive me for broken English, but I think you also have the same feelings for the word “Sir”.
SIR in my vocabulary means "Slave I Remain" and obviously the reason why you hate to be called as SIR is because of this. There is no slavery that happens on this forum right?

"Sir" is derived from the word "Sire", or "seigneur" in some other countries, and it was a form of address used when talking to a feudal lord, possibly a knight or a baronet. It was used by the serfs. It doesn't really have a use in the modern world other than as an obsequious form of address used by a shop assistant or waiter.
So Sire or seigneur was the etymology of the word Sir. Anyway, this word apply righteously to the teachers where they love to see their students as slaves. Students are becoming an assistant to the teachers from assigning some of his workloads on that students provided that the student will going to get a good grade. Sorry for bringing this but I would like to ask everybody that we celebrate a happy teacher's month and an Advance happy teacher's day worldwide on 5th of October of every year.

I think Sir is usual in Virginia, they use it for respect so you might have to reconsider after all its not just the people there who uses it. Its good to know where the word came from though. Some people also don't like themselves to be called sir as it means master which religious people only believe the rabbi are the only that should be called sir.

What annoys me is the phrase "interesting project". For someone who says so should also support as to why they find it interesting.

I remember a time when ICOs weren't a thing :) Less spam, ah the memories.

"biggest projects I have ever seen"

But I literally just picked a random topic in Announcements, went down the first page, and had a few of those checked off. It's sad the forum has come to this in certain sections.

Title: Re: Most annoying word of forum

At least in our country, it has some derogatory ingredients in it,
It's the same in the West, due to the shift from feudalism to egalitarianism. In our modern egalitarian society, polite people treat each other as equals; nobody is superior to anybody else, and therefore nobody may rightly be called "sir". To call somebody "sir" is to suggest that they are a feudal lord, a class which these days is looked upon with contempt, a relic of a less civilised era. It's a clear insult, albeit a mild one. The only appropriate uses of the word "sir" are in the few remaining situations where a clear master-servant relationship exists: customers are called "sir" by shopkeepers, teachers are called "sir" by students, and military officers are called "sir" by their men. That's about it.

Of course, it's probably different in South Asia, but an important part of polite conversation is learning what seemingly innocent words and phrases may be viewed as offensive by other cultures. Every time a shitposter says "sir", they're really saying "I don't care enough about you to learn that it is improper to call you 'sir', even after you repeatedly tell me not to". These people demonstrate that they have no interest whatsoever in having a real conversation and they have no place on this forum.

Yeah, all the primitive phrases used mainly in ANN threads are very annoying.
I also hate word "bounty". When I see "Bounty" chocolate bar in shop I always remember all these bounty spammers on Bitcointalk and I don't want to buy this chocolate anymore :D
And "proof of authentication". Everytime when I see this or similar phrasevI always feel that it was posted by spam bot.
And good reminder by user above - "Reserve xxx translation". They posting this reservation even if project aren't looking for translations.

Omg and the best one of all, in a 1000 page post about "Do you think bitcoins are good?" Or whatever:

First, you quote someone else. It makes your post look bigger even though it's a one-liner. Then you start with "I agree with you". It's perfect, because now you didn't duffer Andy feathers and can regurgitate what has been said 10,000x already. Well worth the 1000 Satoshis you just earned.

Here's two accounts that are probably the same shitposter and a typical post you'll see shortly after:

if in my opinion because the government and the bank are afraid that the community will choose bitcoin to be used as an investment rather than using paper currency. so because of that the government announced bitcoin was illegal
in my opinion, not only is that a very strong reason, maybe the government is afraid of negative results that will result from investments with crypto currencies, crypto currencies are always preached with negative and bad

I agree with you. Governments make  impressions of cryptocurrency and with that I have shame in my mind but it is okay because I am strong at heart and I will avail to receive the cryptocurrency.

Another 1000 Satoshis and that only took me 30 seconds to mash a bunch of words together. At this rate I can make 60,000/hr, which is about $3.90. Sure as hell beats lugging bricks across the desert for 13 cents an hour.

The most annoying expression would be "doing bitcoin" !!!

I don't know what they want to say by this, but to me, it sounds like somebody trying to stick his you know what in a power outlet and try hashing the next block.

"Sir" is taking second place, pretty annoying although it can be funny when used like this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4564216.msg46020145#msg46020145)  ;D

Reserved, plz, bounty and bounty hunters, great/good/whatever project, are competing for the last place on the podium.

I also hate word "bounty". When I see "Bounty" chocolate bar in shop I always remember all these bounty spammers on Bitcointalk and I don't want to buy this chocolate anymore :D

That's ok, because Bounties are the worst chocolate bar. Maybe ever. I don't think I've ever seen a box of Celebrations that didn't have just Bounties and Milky Ways left after all the good ones are gone.

I actually like those more than the others, and just like LTU_btc I instantly think about ICOs and spammers.
But still, this has not stopped me from buying them, no way in hell I'm not going to let those morons ruin my appetite for anything.

HODL.

I have no problem with this word and the OP from where it originated.

But this word is now getting used in some kind of stupid/speculative advice without any actual reasoning. The conversation generally as follows.

User A:  I bought this shitcoin Z, what should I do ?
User B:  Oh! , just HODL it.

User A: I bought bitcoin, but now it's price is dropping.
User B: Just HODL it.

This word is killing the actual discussion and majority of time used in shitposting.

Edit :  somebody again  abusing (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5035513.0) it for some shit coins.

This one! It is annoying as hell.

" Sir" for some reason tends to go together with "Dear" making this phrase: " Dear,Sir" the king  off all annoying phrases of all time.
Also words" exchange" " update" and " moon" together with "When"  is hugely annoying.

Holy fuck, how could I forget the classic "daily needs". Just actually search that in bitcoin discussion and see how much it comes up.

Sir is what you become when you become a 'knight of the realm' in the UK, but it's also just a title people give themselves to try command a bit of respect. It's pretty much one of the highest orders in England, and originally only the most 'noble' of society ever became one, but obviously it's an outdated institution now.

Ok, let me talk about why I don't like the word "Sir".

In our country, The word "Sir" dictionary interpretation is a polite language for adult males. It has been used for more than 1,000 years. In ancient times, this word was often used to refer to those who are highly respected, such as scholars and teachers.

Yeah. Another one is 'gentleman'. I really don't think we need all this faux politeness and respect.

"Merit". Mostly when it is used by someone who doesn't even know what it is and what is the fundamental function of it, and, specially when it is used in the title of a thread which indicates there is nothing good to read inside, but I still read it, I don't know why.  ;D
Meta and Beginners & Help have most of them in the recent times.

Other than that, the word "shit" also annoys me a lot of times when non-English speakers use it more than often and in totally inappropriate manners. If someone doesn't know when to use a word, they shouldn't do it. They might have a feeling that using these words make your writing better, but that's not right. It rather makes it more frustrating if you are not using the words in the correct way.

'Dear' as it is 100% guaranteed to be the mark of some google translate penis. It seems to be a bit rarer these days.

Many words can be described as boring here in the forum, one of the most used is definitely JOIN with the hashtag in front.

'nice'. Its used lots by the spam bots, and its far too boring and undescriptive as an adjective.

Mine is "Help". It is so annoying to see someone asking for it knowing that he don't even try to find answers and his question is searchable in the first place. I really hate spoonfeeding.

So I don't like someone calls me "Sir" , and I don't like to see who uses this word in forums.
Forgive me for broken English, but I think you also have the same feelings for the word “Sir”.
I understand because other members here feel the same way. Actually, I used this word often before especially when talking to high-ranked members but I stop after I experienced a little bit conflict regarding this. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4973648.msg44892625#msg44892625. Even though I knew to myself that I have no intentions of degrading people and just showing my respect, I still decided to quit saying such endearments to avoid this kind of situations once and for all (even to my campaign manager).
Dear Sir Thermos,

Its great project have a many potentials future for opportunity. I invest all my wife savings into your project for charitable outcomes...
I laughed so hard with this one particularly to "Thermos". Like a brand of vacuum flask? I guess enough internet for today lol ;D.

"breaks my heart"

I just seen a recent post about a person where his/her posts are being deleted (definitely a shitposter) and askin' here in the meta.

Quote
Hopefully my future posts will not be deleted and in return I am going to treat this as a lesson, because it really breaks my heart seeing my posts are being deleted :(

It's very annoying and this person shouldn't be in here because the reason why we're here is to have good conversation and discussion regarding a specific topic not to look at our post counts. This quoted statement shows that he/she's just doin' bounties and it really "breaks his/her heart" lol  :D

Also, I don't want posts that consist of "please help", If you want to know something kindly ask it directly or search them in google because there might be an existing topic long ago that's related to the information you wanted to know.

EARN

Earn is the most annoying word on this forum for me and I can't believe it hasn't been mentioned in 3 pages..

Everything is earn this, earn that, earn earn earn earn..

No matter if it's earn from a bounty, or earn from a signature, or earn from a hyip/ponzi, or earn from a faucet, or earn merits, or earn a high rank, or earn trust ratings..

It's like people are just here to get something and "earn" sounds so.. Entitled...

Saw a post from a newb the other day something about "How do I earn from the bitcoin core link?"..

:D :D  Same feeling,  like 'solid project', and in some cases, like 'mate',  examples. ' Hi mate, you know...'. I don't know but it's quite weird for me.
and another one is ' innovative ', listened too many times.
And also there some phrases like "Paypal of China,  Google of India".
Will add some others when I recall.

"Bitcoin Investment" is the word much annoying for me because the bitcoin was found to be used as currency but we are using them as investment. :-X

I really want to see bitcoin as currency and a=our forum members also need to consider bitcoin as currency for the mainstream adoption of crypto payment system.

Using insulting language.  Making fun of others.  non sympathetic words..

Above are in addition to many other already written by members.
