Within the last few hours, coinmarketcap have reach a new mile stone, coinmarketcap now keeps tracks of more than 2000 different crypto currencies, around 10 new coins was added just today.  Coinmarketcap now have 2003 crypto currencies.
Acceding to coinmarketcap historical snapshot there where 1055 coins around this date just a year ago. And 637 coins around this date two years ago.

Some of those coins are just shitcoins. CMC should remove those inactive cryptos so that newcomers won't be confused and won't create unnecessary blunder specially when investing into altcoins. If only we just focus on few cryptos I guess there will be less FUD and more adoption. Some of those shitcoins created doubts to new players in the crypto market because most of them are just launched for the devs to profit.

While crypto markets are spreading vastly, we need to ensure security and that no crypto scams exist. More power to cryptos.

Worth mentioning that list includes 1,103 tokens, so more than half of total cryptos. Also, if CMC was to remove all the low/unknown volume ones that would take out big portion of it. ~30% of the listed have 24h volume of less than $1k.

That just shows how famous blockchain and cryptocurrency has got all over the years to attract that many developers(and scammers) to develop many tokens and shitcoins. In addition to that, it is also worth mentioning that most of the 1103 tokens coinmarketcap (https://coinmarketcap.com/tokens/views/all/) keeps track to runs on ethereum blockchain using smart contract and on other coins allowing easy creation of own altcoin in form of tokens like waves.

Yes, I also agree with you. Coinmarketcap should start removing coins that have become shitcoin, with a small trading volume. some coins that do not have trading volume on the exchanger will be better if there is no marketcap coin listing

there has been a lot more altcoins than 2000 for a long time now. it is just that coinmarketcap.com does not list all of them for some weird reasons that nobody has yet figured out publicly.
for example there are projects now that have been trying to have their coins listed there but never got any answer while shittier coins were already listed before them!

What a joke the altcoin market is. 2000 coins/tokens, 100 billion dollars, and barely a competent team or working product between them. And more scam ICOs appearing every day, and more newbies losing their money by blinding sending it to the next project that promises impossible returns.


No it isn't. Bitcoin dominance is between 52-56% this month, which is the highest it has been all year.

It is also worth noting that there are cryptos existing in low volumes and in cheap exchanges that are not yet listed on the CMC at the moment.  A case in point is the so many cryptos listed on a certain exchange called Cryptohub reputable for housing shitcoins. On a brighter side, I think more coins should come on. The more we have them, the better an option we will have.

The market has a very large number of coins due to the fact that the cryptocurrency makes it possible to develop very good openings and technologies and I do not see anything in this the more so on the coinmarketcap get coins with a turnover of more than 100k. I think that this bar can be raised.

You can easily exclude tokens on CMC. I think it's ok that they list them all together because as long as they get exchanged for dollars and can hold all the properties of normal coins they are almost indistinguishable.

That's why crypto market still is not stable, many of that projects offer nothing. Therefore Btc and major crypto token will eliminate those kind of projects.

So for me there is only a few coins like monero interesting but mainly iam still going with Bitcoin.

Do all of those coins I think you have to reanalyze because not all in coinmarketcap are coins but there are many tokens listed on coinmarketcap.
of these, there are also coins and tokens that are not active in the market. I think the coinmarketcap must delete some coins and tokens that are not active.

I don't think he is the one that put them there. If they are not  qualified as coins, they are qualified as cryptocurrency and CMC means, Cryptocurrency Markets Capitalization.

Not all of those who are in the CMC are good coins, so coinmarketcap should have removed them too, I hope that those who will run for a year or so will have the chance to just stay  and be in the coinmarketcap, but still good thing we have CMC to check the coinmarketcap of each coins.

I really think we can all agree that other Shitcoins back then when it starts has a good value in its first day and when bounty hunters got their hands on them they already selling them that is why I think they had done their part in making the market of cryptocurrency worthwhile

This is just to show all investors and institutions that Cryprocurrency isn't going no where and it's here to stay. Even though not all digital assets displayed on CMC got genuine use case but it goes to show how the knowledge of the blockchain technology is spreading.

Coinmarketcap lists the coins according to the coons growth and circulation increased. If we see the growth on the good coins you mah go with investing in the cryptos.
When the coins looking to have the name on cmc. You need to go with the promotion and all factors side growth.

Scam or not, the one you linked looks pretty dead to me. Zero volume and not a single exchange accepting it. Such a short life it was... That just shows that CMC could really do with some proper cleaning and remove couple of hundreds of the bottom ones. They're just taking up space and slowing the site down.

While it is interesting for the crypto currency industry to witness such number of crypto currencies, I view it as proliferation to some extent because some of the coins have no problem to solve and are of little or no value. It ends up being a wasted effort to own such crypto currency. I am of the opinion that the number of coins that enter the market should be regulated so that it doesn't become a child's play. However, with the decentralized nature of the crypto industry, it is basically going to be the survival of the fittest. At this trend, who knows the number of coins that will be listed in the next two to three years? What could be their values? We hope not to see coins that are worthless ($0.000001)?

Absolutely interesting for the world of crypto, am sure such news would boost investor confidence in the world of crypto.  Each and everyday, many more projects are coming up with great ideas to improve the world of crypto. The increasing number of coins is just an affirmation of how far the world of crypto has come.

This goes a long way to show how much of an advancement in the crypto world. Every now and then, so may projects are popping up, offering one thing or the other. But on a very truthful nite, most of these coins are just worthless, in years to come, most of them won't be around again.

There can be more coins but not listed in coinmarketcap.com. Some coins, which do not reached the market cap is not listed in there. Most of them are projects that did not work and others are just shitcoins. Some are also in the market already but not in the coinmarketcap.com.

Good thing, coinmarketcap must like some exchanger, when coins or tokens already die, they need to delisted from it so people not jump into their again. There are some coins or tokens that already have no value out there.

Yes and it just an indication that we really have a strong crypto market now despite of everything, but some of them should be remove if they are already unstable for so many months as they are not also worth to invest at.

I searched for bitconnect and its still there despite of being delisted to all exchanges and exposed as a scam, it's still listed there. They need to filter their list for the sake of newcomers since they are the most visited crypto price tracker.

It is true that there are several altcoins on the market. Some are doing well and other are just there for the sake of existence. One must be very careful when selecting which altcoins to invest in because it may not pay off. BITCOIN IS THE ULTIMATE.

2003 is just a number, if you check coinmarketcap's every coins volume or trading history, then you will see shitcoins are everywhere. Only 500-600 Coinsmay be good there and the good, better, best coins all in these 600 Coins. Others 1400 Coins are shit coins. A lot of coins has no trading volume, even they scam, but coinmarketcap still did not remove them! Like Trident group coin, I have a lot of Trident coin and the admin already scam us. But Coinamrketcap still did not delist this coin. So, the number is just increased not value. We don't need shitcoins, 1000 Good Coins will be blessed for the cryptocurrency market.

Everyday added new coin in coinmarketcap today it's reached 2000+ coins. I think more than 1000 coins already dead and scams. CMC should be delist dead coins. In one day added 10 coins it's massive. CMC listing require is not a more difficult i think, If daily trade volume 100K USD this coin easily added CMS.

Yes I agree with this, but everyone comes only in the intention of becoming popular. due to some vary in their project makes them zero. Competition will always be there in every field all we need to focus is who will survive. As simple like that.

A clear indicator of saturation of the scene, every doofus who can build a decent website and create a token is doing it. I am interested in a total number of created tokes, including the obscure ones which never reach the CMC listing. The number must be insane.

I am sad going through the list of those 2000 coins on coinmarketcap quality project are scarce from the coins most coin doesn't have real use case all they have is fake whitepaper and roadmap some are dead left behind by fake ceo and team.

I do not focus only on coinmarketcap. I always do a personal analysis. I can only take those coins that are in the top 10.  no more than.

It is not enough. 90% of such unknown coins will die and investors will lose all money but it will be I think in 2020 not soon.

It is not bad that cryptocurrency is growing but not as expected,we are not expecting to have so much useless coin,the list is full of many shitcoin and that is not good for crypto market.I just hope CMC can do something about that.

Every new token or coin that comes and is released in coinmarketcap will definitely pass through a several processes. The main factor that makes these tokens have value is through the ICO process, in fact if every bounty hunter have a good predictions to determine which tokens or coins who have good functions and can be desired by everyone, until now tokens that are in CMC or those that have listed on several exchanges will also have value and compete with other tokens that have the same functions / features. However, if every bounty hunter does not pay attention to that aspect and they are reckless when promoting several projects then you are right, every year a new token will come that will have the same fate as the previous token.

CMC is not the only good market, there are lots of good coins even if they are not in Coinmarketcap. it's just that if the coin is already entered in Coinmarketcap then it has a fast and large transaction but that does not guarantee that the coin will develop because there are many coins that die in CMC. so relax if your coins are not in CMC.

there must be a new standard for only entering coins that have volumes above the average per day, this year there are so many coins that I even consider not worthy of being included in the list.

Let's be honest here - there are A LOT OF coins listed on CMC that are basically worthless. Many of the coins have almost zero liquidity or the developer team has abandoned the project a long time ago. The thing is that Coinmarketcap should really have this "spring cleaning" on their website - delist all of the shitcoins and maybe list some new ones that are actively being developed.

While more coins are being created, the weak ones will die off, I think crypto market is not very matured yet with time we may have a lot more stable coins and more trade options. This figure will certainly increase in few months to come and may double in less than 5 years with mass adoption and increased participation

on a daily basis, different projects rollout their ideas and visions of making the world a better place through their ideas and decide to roll it out for the general public to participate and make a living as well as make the investors who invest into the ideas make a living also

in the crypto world that is very advanced in the field of Blockchain technology which is recognized by the world so that it continues to grow in providing the best for coin vision and mission or projects, but the more coins continue to increase the number it will also have an impact on the unstable market ecosystem. cryptocurrency really helps all become investors and I see a good future.

Coins are important, but they are of little avail. Most of them are useless and little known to anyone and are doomed to death in the coming year after creation.
