Ripple exceeded the market cap of Ethereum for the second time in a span of one week. Marked the calendar 09/26. Ripple once again become the second largest crypto currency by Market Cap. Will it take the spot permanently as we close the year?

Ripple is suitable for speculation, so I would not trust much the price shown; it may disappoint you "tomorrow".
Ripple is nowadays on a great trend and Ethereum is not. So yes, Ripple can overtake Ethereum. The fact Ethereum is doing bad is not a joy, many have big bucks invested into that. Ripple can get you some easy money, but again, the risk is very big.

I am still expecting better coins get higher in ranks. The current top 10 is imho a bad joke.
And back to your question: Bcash is pumped/hyped a lot too, it may be a big rival for Ripple and it could easily snatch place #2. (Although both options for place #2 are a shame).

Due to the fact that Ripple is a centralized coin, many are afraid to invest in Ripple, but it is worth noting that during this dive, Ripple remained one of the most stable coins. I think Ripple it is a good coin and in that year, more than triple the level of capitalization of Ethereum, though it did not last long and soon Ethereum overtaken Ripple and is gone further.

it was only temporary, xrp took place number 2 and now it was again taken by the ETH.
I think the price of xrp which has recently risen rapidly has manipulated it, I am worried about the movement of xrp I suggest be careful if you want to invest in it.

It's possible it will hold that spot. If the Ripple corporation wants to they could pump the coin straight to the moon... or they could sell their holdings and completely crash the market. I know, their holdings are locked up or something like that.

There are some of good news for XRP that's why it pumped and took the no.2 spot at coinmarketcap for a while but during bullish markets Ethereum will be far ahead of Ripple.

Currently XRP surpass Ethereum based on market cap but i think this is can be change again later, because Ethereum is not sleep, but they continue to be want much better. Since tradeable in acouple years, XRP has very high volatility by going up 7 to 10 times just in less than amonth and then going down again to more than 80%, so make sure use stop loss and trailling stop to avoid loss.

Ripple takeover I think wouldn't last longer because when market finally settle down in this long extended bloodbath bearish market the Ethereum will revigorate.

We will see it is would last longer or not for xrp, to be honest xrp has a great run at this week & Im just a little bit affraid that another dump will incoming into this coin. It is just like trend movement for every crypto when it has already long bull run on it, after that the bear will incoming.

I don't think it's that easy for Ripple to be the best altcoint, indeed, the development of ripple is also good, but I can't beat ethereum.

It's awesome to see Ripple doing their thing. Been great to be apart of it, all the great development coming along and hitting their deadlines. Nice to see RBC's reports of xrapid saving them 46%. More great news to come, I can see them holding this dominance in he market for quite some time, eth may make a recovery but looks like they are taking some hits and criticism lately about their development plans. Codius being released and making xrp more user friendly is a step in the right direction.

Ripple has exceeded ETH in market cap twice before since 2017.  However, this has only occurred for brief periods of time as usually ETH has bounced rather swiftly after to regain the #2 cap slot.

I believe the red circle may be a correlation to what we see now.  A brief stop before surpassing ETH for a quick spike up.  Then I suspect action like in the blue circles where ETH will respond and retake the #2 cap slot.

But the questions is will Ripple will be able to hold the throne for a longer time? I remember when Bitcoin cash take over the 2nd rank to Bitcoin but only for just 1 week but after that Bitcoin cash is really in difficult right now. Although this is the 2nd time that the Ripple replaced Ethereum that even do it might temporary but Ethereum should not ignore this threat.

Ripple has the ability to beat Ethereum! From long time, Many investors keep showing their fear to invest in Ripple and faith in Ethereum. While Ripple has maintain their stability and on the other side Ethereum goes down, down & down. So, according to me ripple is a good coin and has the good stability like top coins.

we have faced these types of in the past also. so eth is always the second largest alt coin ever. so this is temporary. eth can lead any time so please be alert

Ripple made it to the second largest market cap, but will not last that long. Ethereum is so do right now due to overall effect of the bearish market. But, this situation will improve as the year ends. Ripple has been like that, but don't stay at the top that much.

Ripple does have a good development team with breakthroughs that are able to attract the attention of investors or crypto leaders with their position in coinmarket. Surely this is maintained and will still look for loopholes to convince the holders that Ripple deserves to be maintained.

It's back down to three again, but they are neck and neck for now.

I personally don't believe ripple will take the 2nd place spot permanently.
There have been pumps where it has overtaken eth, but it has always been just for a short time.
Ripple doesn't have much going for it really.
It's constant announcements of big deals and developments are mostly just smoke and mirrors.
On top fo that, the coin itself has no function at all.

Compare that to eth that has an entire ecosystem of crypto companies.
The amount of things you can do with the eth platform absolutely stomps ripple.
You also have active development that is pushing the tech even farther.

I'm not too sure that by the end of this year Ripple could take over ethereum's position in the capital market
I actually hope for eos, even though it was still too early to coup ethereum's position ;D

this is just a limited time because investing ripple is very risky so I suggest Ethereum is more trustable compared to xrp

I remember that in December I started betting a lot on Ripple. It was pretty obvious to me that at some point it would shoot prices. And that's what actually happened. It is one of the most perfect assets for speculation and was down a good while other assets were firing. But since I've sold it, I've never been able to ripple again.

It seems to me that projects like Stellar and Bitcoin himself with LN are much more beneficial to society.

Ripple should be regarded as a corporation where you buy shares that do not give you the right to vote and only serve for speculation.

I see that Ripple has experienced quite good growth lately, but it still seems difficult if it has to be said to shift to position # 2. But there's nothing wrong if you dare to take risks, to get a lot of profits. That opportunity is in Ripple for those who will invest! Good luck with hope.

This is a great achievement for ripple. the longer it is seen that the quality of owned ripple can fairly compete with others even though many still underestimate the ripple owned system. ethereum indeed in the weak phase so it would be quite reasonable in this time ripple could be a little superior. but by looking at the competition I think there will not be a permanent thing like this.

Permanently? I think its not, ripple can exceed eth in market cap just by now, but it not takes too long, you will be dissapointed if you still have faith in ripple by yourself,  because sooner or later eth will exceed again your ripple marketcap.

Sure, it could but I'm not really so sure it matters.  It is the biggest comparison of apples and oranges when it comes to cryptocurrencies.  XRP is 100% premine with a focus on blockchain adoption at a corporate banking level.  XRP is doing good in the world and so is Eth but the two are totally different.  Ethereum is POW based while also shifting to POS.  Not saying either is good or bad.  My point is that I don't see a point in assuming that there is some sort of a marketcap competition. 

That can happen, Ripple has really demonstrated its capacity with quite a great growth a few days or weeks. Most likely and there is still a chance if Ripple will shift Ethereum from the current number 2 position. To be honest, I was a little surprised and really amazed !!

for now, Ripple is indeed being talked about because the price can skyrocket and of course this is all thanks to the hard work of the Ripple team that has been able to convince investors and traders to use Ripple. it is not impossible if in the future Ripple becomes the most wanted coin by traders.

ripple has shown everyone that can grow instantly. now they will fight for 2 and 3 places, but in the end I think ETH will win. Although I can be wrong, the cryptocurrency market is unpredictable.

If Ripple should take over Etherum, it may not stay for long because ethereum have more support that Ripple, and Ripple, Like what happened few days back when Ripple took over Ethereum, It didn't even 36hours before Ethereum returned to its position.

Yes, So many professionals talked about ripple and every one is saying that ripple will overtake ethereum and be the next ethereum.

I think it is quite risky to invest in Ripple at the moment. Eth is down but it'll eventually back to high volume.

As for me, I'll use XRP for day trading, cause we don't really know what will happened in the next day if we used it as a long term trading.
I think it's the best decision for me to choose it for day trading.

The rise in Ripple price did not last more than a few hours and was quickly reversed. It is not the first time that Ripple has passed Ethereum in overall market cap and I do not htink it will be the last. However with a recovery in Ethereum post the ICO cash outs I think it will estbalish iteslf back into the No 2 spot quite comfortably.

yes, we can see it in the marketcap. this is a new surprise in the downward trend. but I don't think ethereum will just let go through ripples, there is a lot of speculation and manipulation but it is too risky now to make speculation in investment
