Title: Erik Vorhees announces coincap.io
Post by: European Central Bank on September 27, 2018, 02:46:10 PM
https://coincap.io

what do we reckon to this? will it put coinmarketcap in its place?

it looks cleaner and has live price updates which is always a cool feature. i don't know if their listing and detail policy will be better than CMC but i hope so.

TBF, anything looks better than CMC.

I've been using Coinlib.io (http://Coinlib.io) for some time, which also has live price updates.

Looks decent. I've personally stopped using CoinMarketCap for some time already, as I've been using LiveCoinWatch[1]. CMC is simply still the top(I think?) simply because it has the first mover advantage. Based on features though? CMC is definitely lagging behind.

Is it me or the live price updates on "CoinCap" is on another level?

will it put coinmarketcap in its place?
Hopefully.

Found a small visual bug on "CoinCap":

- If you try to trade BTCitcoin to any other asset, the "currency on miner fee" doesn't change (it's always BTC, so I did a double check on "ShapeShift" and everything was correct in there [but not in "CC"]): Results (https://imgur.com/W2hZ5l6)
  • Regardless of that, I like having the ability to trade within the platform.

When people got used to things which are on the top spot it would really be hard to replaced it but when people do started to be aware on the existence of these similar sites which do have better features than on CMC then it would really create an another story but well, people would just stick on the things they known in the very start.

This is the unique thing which do interest me where you can make direct trades or conversions.

I still prefer CoinMarketCap than CoinCap. CMC provides more information and I find the graphs useful on the homepage. Coinlib looks good but... for example on the Bitcoin page it provides news related to BCash, so not for me definitely

I don't know, I actually quite like the UI of Coinmarketcap, apparently unlike most people, looking at this thread.
I'm not a big fan of seeing animations for price updates and I really appreciate the more simple interface of CMC.

Not a single one of these alternatives has ever convinced me to switch, this one certainly won't either.

Same here maybe I am just too used with CMC, the UI and features on coincap are nice though I'll try to stick with it.

Pretty much. But the better(based on personal opinion) price ticker/marketcap sites are pretty much going to be difficult to be recognized from more of the "casual" investors unless these sites do a decently big marketing campaign; as I really doubt most of the people are really looking for an alternative. The statement "don't fix it if it ain't broke" is heavily at play here. I think.

I personally don't find that feature useful as well, but hey. It looks cool. It makes me look like a sort of pro trader/investor if someone peeks on my laptop's screen. LOL

do you need to be a (*giggle*) member to use that website, too?  :D

I like the fact that an alternative takes a different path when it comes to fetching market data, but I think that there is more in depth data and variables available over at Coinmarketcap.

Don't know if others experience the same, but certain sites as blockchain.info have been such a convenient and good looking site, that it's difficult to use something else, even when it is technically better in some ways.

Overall, the more competition there is, the more pressure Coinmarketcap experiences to actually implement new features and improve their user experience. Thanks for pointing out OP.
