Title: [2018-09-30] It’s Time Facebook Protected User Security with Blockchain Tech
Post by: Jgilpulg on September 30, 2018, 03:06:42 PM
A Facebook vulnerability affected almost 50 million users. Hopefully, this security breach will drive Facebook management to accelerate its efforts to improve data privacy by incorporating blockchain technology.

It would help a lot in technicality issues and security of Facebook, but the political sides won’t stop until Facebook credibility will down.

We have known this as this social media platform is totally immobilized the mainstream popularity and take freedom of speech of each country has been exercised.

These attacks are obviously backed by any powerful government who want to oppress information within.

What a joke, Facebook is the biggest enemy of privacy, people who use it should realize that their data is being sold constantly, sometimes to advertisers and other businesses, sometimes to regimes that prosecute opposition. Blokchain will do absolutely nothing in this scenario, even if it somehow managed to work in this context.

The inventor of the world wide web is working on a new project, decentralized web presence.

https://solid.inrupt.com/

It will take over, and finally get people out from under all these monoculture centrist social platforms.

I didn't know that this particular ongoing project do exist. This would really be the thing on where the word "privacy" would be relevant not  on using those popular Social medias as of now.
Facebook already using blockchain tech but the story would be still the same when we do talk about privacy.

In May 2018, Facebook created a working group to create an optimal solution for using blockades in Fasebook. That is, work is underway. Although it may not be so fast, since only in September Fasebook placed 6 vacancies related to the organization of work in this area.

I know I can be blamed for that  :) but I'm using Facebook on a regular basis because it helps me to connect with people I know. So I hope that the rumors that Facebook is exploring the possibility of using blockchain technology are reflecting what's happening in reality.

Actually I don't mind if Facebook is selling data about my preferences in books, movies, food and other stuff, but I really doubt what you said in the selected text above.  Could you please provide more details about that?

I don’t think that facebook sells information (as far as I know) but they don’t particularly deprive the public of personal information of its users. It’s practically pretty open and vulnerable, but it’s not likely to be a marketplace of information. We have ourselves to blame for putting too much personal information in social media when it’s not even necessary and don’t even bother to take the measures to protect ourselves. While Facebook has the responsibility, the users should play a part of it as well.
