Title: Red Trust Appeal - Vod
Post by: asche on October 01, 2018, 03:56:21 PM
Hello all,

I am posting here now 5 full months after getting red tagged by Vod.

"Blatant and excessive merit farmer."
Topic where it got discussed: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3470328.0

The story has been discussed in all length necessary in the link in reference.

This topic is merely posted to gain Vod's attention since he replied this to me when I asked him to re evaluate my red trust based on new input:

Quote from: Vod
Post your defense on the forum under Reputation... let's see what the members think.

I'm allowing myself to quote actymyname's reaction on this, as he perfectly explains my point and has way more influence than I have:

Here's my opinion: in exchanges of A->B, the one that should be tagged is A, not B.

Obviously, when you have A<->B both users are tagged but this is not the case here. If you start tagging users because they have received lots of merit from one individual, that opens up doors for scammers/butthurts to spam-send merit to someone that isn't abusing the system for a false conviction. After all, like The Void, you can't reject gifts. bonus points if you get that reference

The tag on asche should be reconsidered. Precedence holds great power which is why I carefully tag merit abusers.

For anyone wanting to give their input, please read the reference thread. No need to remake the whole discussion here.

Thank you

I hope he will reconsider about his decision to revise his feedback to neutral or just tag another also for sending the excessive merit to you,I found that who gave you merits was a staff member so the multiple time merits from that person is legit not in abusive manner.

Actually I DID receive a large amount of merit from a non staff member. But it is old so it doesn't show in the history anymore.

The point is I didn't give anything to the merit sender for it. Not much I can do to "refuse" merit.

He meant to do me a favor, which backfired. However it is hardly my responsibility.

I could have told him to stop sending merits, but I was new around here and not aware how this would look.

Still appreciate your input tho (even though you might change your opinion if you had my full merit history).

You can check your full merit history here:

By the way, this handy website is created by the guy who left you negative trust.

If I was Vod I would think of changing that to neutral, but never delete it, let there be proof of what happened. Some time has passed. I don’t know if I would change it now but as time goes by, if he sees no more merit abuse, I think he should change it to neutral.

Here's my version of your full Merit history (http://loycevsbasement.privatedns.org/Merit/history/1580039.html).

I also noticed you're bumping your thread (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3088857.msg32399468#msg32399468) many times in a very small amount of time. In case you didn't know: that's not allowed. See:
Forum rules
13. Bumps, "updates" are limited to once per 24 hours.[2]
21. Old bumps should be deleted. [2]
32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

I was not moderator in march, but after my nomination, the french community discussed about these bumps, and it is now "tolerated" (but abuses are punished). See here (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4984973.0) and archives in the same post (it's in french).
But we are off-topic :).

I'd have no problem with that.

That's true. I am aware. It is tolerated in french subsection when it is done to translate ann threads for translation bounties. If that changes I will comply, naturaly.

I might add the best thing would actually be to prevent spam from various accounts on the ANN threads in the first place, avoiding the spam translations in the second place.
If one doesn't do it while everyone else does, it would result in a very unfair pay due to the stake system.

Edit: Thank you for the clarification Halab.

My opinion (for what it's worth) is that the red trust should be removed. From a quick glance at asche's post history, it seems that they have contributed to the forum and are not a spammer. Not else much to add other than echoing the sentiments of the actmyname quote.

I see that your negative feedback got removed. Your appeal has been heard.
I was going to dive in to say that, even if we disagree in our opinions in the local French subsection, you bring challenging points. And a sane debate is always good to have.
Also, so far you didn't do any direct offense to anyone.

You should consider to remove the feeback you left as well.
