No doubt! I would go for BTC too but if i do have the money to spend on to crypto investment then putting eggs on many baskets would really be more preferable instead on focusing into one but since we are talking about single coin then its ideal to stick on the King or Father of all crypto which is BTC it might be outdated by some coins but we cant really deny on how big the community do supports it.

I will choose crypto like BTC or ETH. This coins are strong coins and compare to other coins it has more chance to make it in the future plus more chance that its price is soaring up high that time. We cannot deny that some coins did not make it to recover and keeps fallin. So choosing BTC or ETH has a higher chance to gain profit and a wiser decision to make.

if i could really only hold one coin, it would certainly be bitcoin. i have the most trust in him, even though i thought of ethereum first, i still choose bitcoin.

i,ll hold neo etc btg nano holo trx etn and ios i think these coins have potential for future and have strong partnerships as well as best technologies in the market and high level of volume.

Indeed BTC has survived the tough times and proved to be the winner. One reason because it was the very first to enter.
But still to hodl for 10 years, I wouldn't bet on just BTC. As much as we all want the market to get more stable and secure, I don't see a reason to invest everything on one coin. Its not that altcoins can't compete and become as powerful as BTC. ETH has been doing pretty well and I am sure there will be others joining in as well.
Last reason would be to keep making profits. Long term hodl will not be as profitable as investing at the right time in the right coin and reap the benefits.

That's a no brainer for me, BTC is always my choice if that would be the question.

10 year is a very long time for crypto and in 10 years time you'd see many of the current coins dying and new coins replacing these coins as the most used or one with most profit. If you insist on holding, buying a profit burned token from an established company would be the best bet. For example the popular BTC pool and the largest one for BCH, ViaBTC is holding an ICO.

BTC is my choice, but for 10 years I might have to choose ETH. For other alts they die and give birth to others way too often that I can't trust them enough. ETH has my trust so I would definitely put my money on ETH.

From the beginning of the creation of Bitcoin until now Bitcoin is the parent of other altcoins. If I have to choose to save one of the coins, I will hold Bitcoin as a long-term investment. There is no denying that Bitcoin is the number 1 coin. But it is necessary to consider ETH which is ranked 2nd.

Believe it or not and like it or not, I'm sure everyone agrees to choose bitcoin and no other assets are feasible and bitcoin is the first asset you must have in your portfolio.

definitely, i will choose bitcoin, as far as history is concern, bitcoin being the pioneer has proven its stability compared to any crypto, and i think most of the crypto are based on bitcoin price, bitcoin owns the biggest chunk in the crypto market. second is eth, for the last 2 years, eth has come along side bitcoin. and has a promising future full of potential.

I can only agree with the general opinion and choose bitcoin. He has had the best development so far and most people associate crypto with bitcoin. So it would be my choice if i can only choose a coin.

Bitcoin ofcourse, is the bull of coin.
With the expansion of the cryptocurrencies more and more people will invest on this market and the 1st coin where they will invest it will be Bitcoin.
For this reason bitcoin (if will not ban) will increase in value over and over and I think is the safest bet to hold.

I do agree with you and think that Bitcoin is indeed king and a good long term investment. However, i'd also like to invest in a queen, and that would be none other than Ethereum.

BTC is old tech.  It is expensive, energy consuming, and slow.  It has no practical real world usage at all.
It's only use now is that it is used to trade other crypto.

There are already cheaper, better, and faster blockchains out there now.
Surely they will replace btc?
Or, most likely, a smart contract platform will be around 10 years from now.

So, with that being said, you are looking at something like Nano, or ETH.
Maybe a privacy coin like monero too.

I think NEO because Neo have a great potencial cryptocurrency that china have biggest investor comes. Neo blockchain is very secured and fastest transaction. For the price of $17.00 USD is still low and good entry to buy and hodl it for 10 years and you will have a great profit for it.

Of course BTC is the king of cryptocurrencies and the most recognizable cryptocurrency in the world. But BTC has a rather large Commission in the transaction. So I would choose ETH, its network is built on a lot of significant tokens and now ETH is very much underestimated.

I will say to this that the person should choose from any coin in the top 10, but I still wonder if Ripple is a good coin because it looks like pump and dump project to. In all invest wisely.

If I could hold only 1 currency for 10 years no doubt I will definitely choose to hold bitcoin. Bitcoin as we all know is one of the most popular and most widely accepted amongst all the cryptocurrency. With those characteristics it is common to pick bitcoin rather than any other cryptocurrency out there. Plus I also have experience with bitcoin and it has gave me a lot.

For me i'll prefer to choose between BTC or ETH. Event though the current price of ETH is dropping at this moment, but during the next 10 years, it should be a great investment that i made.

Isn't it obvious op? There is a reason why Bitcoin has been dominating the market for so long and will continue to do so for a long period of time since it is in a different league when compared to other cryptocurrencies.

I have been HODLING my Bitcoins for a long period already and I will continue to do so since I am confident that it will continue rising over the long term. Apart from Bitcoin, I am HODLING Stellar and Ethereum too at the moment.

Probably I choose Neo, I couldnt invest to it from 25 dollar and then it rised to 195-200 dollar ath, now it is cheap again and I'm thinking new ath will be 350-400 dollar for Neo, so there is huge profit, and I trust to Neo much also like etheruem.

i'm sorry but that is nonsense. and this statement was started from altcoin bag holders who needed a reason to explain why their shitcoin is failing while bitcoin remains strong and still rising.
bitcoin isn't strong and a good cryptocurrency to go 100% in because it is king, first, ... these are all nonsense. bitcoin is strong because it is good. it has certain characteristics such as being decentralized, global, censorship resistant, secure, thoroughly tested, .... and a lot more and they make it good in the long run! and on top of that bitcoin is useful as a currency and is actually used.

and the 7 factors that the link mentions are all correct but when it comes to investing in an altcoin none of them matter. what matters is how real the project is and whether it is useful. for example you can fork bitcoin's code and start a new altcoin which is 100% like bitcoin and has no difference whatsoever. that altcoin satisfies all the 7 factors in that link but it will be a shitcoin doomed to fail and buying it will be a dumb decision.
why? because it is useless. and that is the problem with >90% of the altcoins.

Absolutely bitcoin is the one cryptocurrency that i am going to hold in more than 10 years from now as we all know bitcoin is number one cryptocurrency and most popular,profitable and most reliable coins of all times.

On a norm, I will also go for BTC because its a long term investment but I think its risky to put all egg in a single basket. If I have a lot of money to invest, I will invest on bitcoin and also coins such as Ripple, NEM, stellar lumens and Nano for long term.

I agree, there are ton of interesting and cool alts ot there with good potential . But in this time frame , they will chnage a lot, i think most of them will have forks or token swaps or even blockchain change thus it would be very risky to hold them for 10 years.
BTC on other hand is simple and has proven that it works and will be around 10 years form now.

You pretty much answered it by yourself only. Its only the BTC which will survive at the end because of many reasons that we already know, the only thing is its just not yet been explored. It may happen that in the later time we will not need other shitcoins at all and thus they will go down in the investment as well as people will stop using them too. It will be very costly affair to invest in them over the course of period and hence I would say its just the BTC alone where they will focus so that they will not need to invest rubbish on the alts.
It could also happen that only selective Top 50 or so coins will remain out there just to have liquidity in the market and trading pairs which will compete the BTC market as well.

I would say Bitcoin too, and also Ethereum. Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency and the most influential coin in the space which makes it a choice for many. It is still being develop with new features and that it will be something huge after 10 years. I Chose Ethereum because it is the one of the most strongest coin up to date. Tokens depend on it and its technology has potential to grow in 10 years.

I would choose Ethereum. Now Bitcoin is the king but who knows what will it be in ten years. Ethereum is constantly evolving, a lot of upcomings scheduled to the 2019, as for me ETH is more progressive crypto than BTC

Of course I will choose bitcoin , no matter what happen I will stick on bitcoin. 10 years is a very long time but why not? As long as you know that its worth it. Holding for 10 years is kinda awkward because you know if that happens most of us leave.

If it is going to be only crypto currency, then it will be bitcoin. Bitcoin is the first crypto currency invented. It is recognized more than any other crypto currencies out there. It is here to stay unlike other alt coins that might fail and be replaced. It is widely acceptable than any other coins. It is currently dominating the market and as time goes by more people will start adopting it. Thus, after another decade the demand for it will end up being more than any other currencies.

BTC is a choice of everyone to hold along some alternative coins.
But i will not choose BTC if i will aim for more profit.
i will look for a less than a dollar tokens now and hold for it.
i will just make sure that i will be having a coin with a good team working for the project.

This is a simple question, I think. I believe there is no point in holding something other than bitcoin. 90% of altcoins will die within the next 5 years. You will lose money if you hold something other than bitcoin. But I would also keep XYO on my wallet. Good choice.

I think your question is unreal. we trade and invest to earn money. Nothing is certainly. So, I wont hold any coins too long. I will sell and buy frequently to get profit.

The only coin we have in the crypto space is very much worth holding even for more than 10 years. As a matter of fact, that would be my first choice among others.
Then to altcoins, i will choose ethereum over any other, but if i will be going for eth, then i would have to buy at a very low price, like the price we had some weeks ago below $200.
Other altcoins i can also make my choice from are XLM, NEM and TRON.

I would choose a coin which has a low market cap at the moment and has a potential for mass adoption of users which could make it's market larger and to reap the benefits of being a early investor.

It is crazy to have an investment in BTC or an altcoin for 10 years. If I had to invest 10 years, I would choose stocks. You can not know 10 years later, where cryptocurrency will go. BTC can be replaced with better altcoin , or crypto will disappear.

If just 1 currency of course I'm choose btc, btc's supply almost reach the max supply its will make it to be something rare. As you can see, btc's movement in end of 2017 that a sign if btc have potential, and now still in area correction I guess, hope it will break the ATH in end of this year.

For a very long time, I choose to hold bitcoin only. I use altcoin to hold in the short-term, and I will buy and sell the altcoin to help me to gain more bitcoin. If you’re going to do that then you’re supposed to look out fee the one that has the potential to keep on growing till then. I don’t know if I can really hold Bitcoin for ten years now, seems like a big risk to me (well, all of them are risky). But Ripple (XRP) might be a very good choice to go for if you have plans to hold for that long. Bitcoin is good too, but for me I can’t hold it that long.

The most obvious pick would be Bitcoin. It's the one coin that I'm 99.9% sure will be in the top 5 coins 10 years from now. My 2nd pick would have to be Dropil. It's been a great investment and steady source of income for me.

Yes, the answer will always be BTC. Only BTC is strong enough to stand after 10 years of birth, experiencing a lot of market fluctuations. BTC in the future I think will become a kind of asset to store on the blockchain, and will a lot of people want to own it.

I would go for major coins. Like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Ripple. Or even DASH. Luckily, I can buy them all using my card at CEX. Or just exchange BTC for one of these altcoins (https://cex.io/dash-btc). This website is quite simple and has a strong security.

I agree with you and probably would have chosen bitcoin too. I think he'll show what he's capable of. Especially after 10 years. If it grows even a little, then in 10 years it can grow to an incredible size

i'm not going to wait and hold though but if I have to hold 1 crypto i'd like to choose EOS after all i have invested a lot to it. i can't have BTC now as i have already sent all my btc to altcoins i have invested. though we are sure btc going to rise up, the platforms that are going to use useful in the future are going to dominate too.

Bitcoin can surpass in it's current value in below 10 years so I'm must going to involve in bitcoin in where the most potential coin in a future. I believe this coin is one who can go beyond success of achieving profit.

I will choose XRP to hold in 10 years if i can choose only 1cryptocurrency. In 10 years, i think XRP is best choice because it is a big coin with big partnership with many famous bank and companies. After 10 year, XRP still survives and develops, i dare that in 10 year many top coins now will become dead coin and disappear from CMC, XRP is not in that dead list.

I think that holding only one asset is not the best idea. That`s why, for the long hold i would choose ripple, zec, sharering and bitcoin.

I would not complicate anything. And I would give my preference to either bitcoin or ethereum.

I would still go to BTC. But for now, we must also consider good coins recently listed on the coinmarketcap. Those coins are not good just for now, but also in the long term run. And it is good also if we must hold more than just a single coin to generate more income with it.

Looking on the significant increase on XRP, I'll be choosing XRP too keep it for a long term.

This is a simple choice for me, Bitcoin for certain, there is a reason why most of us are here, and it is to learn about BTC, it was when I entered this space that I learnt that there are some other Crypto projects. For me if BTC died most if not all other Crypto projects would died also, so why do I need to pick other project that is directly dependent on BTC

I'll never do in this way. This is a big mistake, twice mistake.
First, i'll split my fund to 5-10 coins at least, or even more. Never put all eggs in one basket, this is the axiom of investment No.1.
Second, 10 years is extremely long time as for cryptocurrency. Crypto is existing about 10 years only, so in next 10 years a similar global changes in thechnology could take place, including an appearance of a new money concept instead of all existing crypto coins&algorithms. So we can plan  HODL for 1 year as maximum, after plans should be corrected according to the current situation

Im still clueless which hold coin to hold for at least 10 years. But Im thinking of a project that has capacity or market cap that considerably big enough to survive for at least those long years. Also, with a concept that can still be usefull after a long year. I prefer as well a token/coin that has a low supply that can be also source of potential demand due to scarce. That moat likely I will hodl. Im not holding any big coin such as btc or eth since we dont know if those project can still be great after 10 years.

For sure majority on the response will choose bitcoin and ethereum as nobody will take a risk on choosing those not proven coins or weak coins that has no real product. I will also choose bitcoin and ethereum but why I should limit myself if I can gamble on those have potential projects like Litecoin, Stellar, EOS which are much cheaper than bitcoin and ethereum. Although if you know how to diversify your funds then it will be wiser than putting your money on just 1 crypto.

BTC is also my decision for a HODL of 10 years. 10 years are an amazing long time and I trust BTC to be most succesful during 10 years. Most coins have not proven to stay a longer time and will be obsolete maybe, but BTC is for sure a valuable decision.  :)

Well I will definitely chose Bitcoin over and over again. It has proven to be the most successful of all other digital currency. Bitcoin have stand the test of time and it has make so many people rich. Maybe I can be rich in the nearest future if I decided to HODL more of BTC than others.

It is good to hodl for some time but I will not choose to hodl for that long time. Assuming I bought a coin for 1$ and it's now 100$ per coin, why do I still keep it? I like the idea o hodling when the price is still low but the moment it rises to some level, I change my mind.

I like altcoins but when it comes to saving for a long term, I will choose BTC over all other coins. most of the alts we see today are still young to determine their future. Bitcoin has been in the system for long and for that matter, gained the needed trust to be held for a longer time.

Without thinking of anything, I would buy bitcoin If I had to hold it for 10 year long term. As I have full faith on bitcoin as it is already well established coin in the crypto market and no doubt it has strong community of the supporter. If you will hold any token 10 years, then you need to choose the one that can exactly live all these 10 years, and these are the tokens that are in the top 100, and it is even better to choose which are in the top 10, I would choose either bitcoin or ethereum.

I'll rather suggest EOS. This promising coin is so mesmerising that some few days ago, it was arguably chosen the coin of the year in China(a key hub country in the discourse of cryptocurrencies.

If for a very long period of time (10 years) I think Bitcoin is worth buying, because in my opinion what really represents digital gold is bitcoin, I don't think that altcoin represents that.

I will buy and hold 3 different coin with different portfolio, 50% for Bitcoin, 25% for XRP and others 25% for ETH. This all coin is always 3 top ranking since afew years and in the long run all of this will keep on that ranking. In 10 years i think the total market cap will be increase to 5 to 10 trilliun dolar, so thats coin will be huge.

I am not a person who is good at managing assets that I have. when I see the green market and provide benefits I will be interested and panic to sell the assets that I have. the longest I hold btc assets in 1 year, and I have never held an altcoin for a long time. because I myself prefer to trade rather than just holding assets for a long time.
