Title: Need For An ICOs Tracker
Post by: Cryptomilz on October 04, 2018, 10:43:51 PM
The crypto space is getting if not already saturated with so many projects and ICOs without any distinctive differences. Some are just mere copies of another. One surest way to find out is running some parts of the texts on their whitepaper on some of these plagiarism sites. It gets to show exactly which project they copied.

I'm hoping that there'll be in the nearest future some tracker for ICOs and their copies as this will help investors not to waste their time on such 'projects'. Is this possible?

Do you mean you are looking for the ico tracker site that can give you the proof that if that ico was only copying another platform? I thought that it looks impossible to consider the ico tracker been getting paid to manipulating the result. What should you do is joining the ico tracking site that used the community's review to listed its ico.

But what if the facts are laid bare for everyone to see for themselves without necessarily giving their verdict, I'm just hoping it would help curb the menace.

You should know that All tracker that we have now are corrupted and lost the people trust. Experts are bought, reviews are bought, etc.

But there is a solution that helps to spot the best projects in their beginning. Check this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5039136.msg46446248#msg46446248 It works on absolutely new principals.

We already have some ICO rating sites offering such services, the problem with them is that there are not indepth analyses for each project and the ratings are just arbitrary in many cases or paid promotions. The problem with a rating site is that there is always a chance they are not accurate. The best you can hope is just some general overview of projects, correct websites and social media accounts. You will still need to do your own research, now and in the future.Rating sites are not a guarantee

The idea is really good, but we all know that it will only take a while and this sites that will trace copied ICO will turn into getting paid to list that or list this etc.., it will just be another example of how review sites running right now. And even if these trackers will be driven by the community, it will be even easier to buy votes, in crypto space right now if you really serious about investing just do your own research because everything at the moment is bought/sold starting from Telegram groups and ending with reviews and articles in big sites.

Well these types of copycat projects are extremely rare,I doubt there would be much activity on the site.

You need to get quite unlucky to keep encountering copied ICOs.

Stick to the trending ICOs and look into them thoroughly, if a lot of eyes on a project, somebody will notice if it's suspicious.

There wont be thing such as ICOs Tracker that really specialize to keep those copycat ICO away from us, why? because if the developer of the projects that you called copy cat are requesting advertisement to that ICOs tracker website then we're done for and the effort will be wasted, most of the ICO tracking website are there for money, let just be frank.

In near future ICOs trackers are possible but technology is improve day by day so different kind of scam projects also possible. I think self defense is the right way so we only aware in crypto platform because anyone can trying to cheating so we must analyse carefully in crypto project. I think most of the project are copy cat but some additional features are improve in the project so better we could concentrate in tokens or coins we are safe.

The platform can look the same but it's really hard to find something like that because they all different and even whitepaper information are build randomly so it would be complicated to find some program

While I seem to understand what the OP is trying to achieve, the reality is that review sites overtime become compromised and biased especially when money starts exchanging hands like pleasantries. The best best is ensure due diligence and ensuring an ICO ticks all the boxes for an exceptional project before committing your hard earned money to it.

I think there is a great demand from investors for accurate and verified information about ICO's. Within the traditional investment industry you have brokers playing that role by acting as underwriter to IPO's. The cryptocurrency space needs to develope the same sort of businesses that can provide investors with kind of information they need to make intelligent investment decisions.

I am not sure if ico tracker can work well and in accordance with the original purpose. All is greedy and can be bribed to make any manipulation. I doubt it and spend a lot of time using such services.

As we can see, there are tens to hundreds of ICOs leave their announcement thread into our forum monthly. Honestly, we can not guess how many ICOs are out there. Then ICO trackers can not list whole ICOs. But fortunately, almost scam ICOs, which have either a fake team or plagiarized whitepaper, were spoted by bitcointalk's members.

In my pinion, ICO trackers are places where ICOs come to verify itself, not find, verify and list these ICOs. So, ICOs trackers are not responsible to check plagiarism. And I appriciate the ICOs trackers have the effective KYC system to verify team members of ICOs. At least, we don't worry about the scam ICOs with fake team. And now I only trust ICObench, I do not claim that all ICOs list on ICObench will not a scam ICO but it really help me avoid many scam ICOs.

One surest way to find out is running some parts of the texts on their whitepaper on some of these plagiarism sites. It gets to show exactly which project they copied.

In my experiences, I met an ICO which are working with the real team but their whitepaper is suspected plagiarism. They explained that they hire an outsource editor to write this whitepaper and do not know why he use this template for other ICO. So what do you think about this?
