Amongst all social medium telegram is mostly used in terms of cryptocurrency related programs.  Most bounty and ico project all have telegram acct which they make mandatory for customers and hunters to join in other to get information and announcement. Most of them have channels where the give news and update as well

Although telegram social media platform has been helpful for the cryptocurrency community. It has also been a honey well for scammers and fraudsters.

So many unsuspecting  individual has be robbed of their coins, token or even money when they come in contact with this telegram thieves

one of the most popular Telegram scums now is people who introduce as famous youtubers and propose ICOs to make review about their project.
it is pretty stupid scum, but many ICO managers send money to such cheaters..

This can be said for Discord, pump groups example. But still honest developers and people use more Telegram and Discord.

Oh well, I'm not surprised but thanks for the warning though. I have a Telegram account and I can confirmed that there are a lot of them sending PM's and trying to lure unsuspecting victims.

All I do is just ignored them or report to moderator. So it cut both ways, it has advantages like instant communications but some disadvantages like scammers offering too good to be true, unfortunately people still fall for it and that's the sad part.

I dont think that is something Telegram specific. Scamers use any medium with which they may lure victims. Just take a look at Twitter, tweets are full of scam attempts, even Facebook and Bitcointalk are being abused.

How can you get caught up with such a trick when you have the Internet and is not a problem to check who the person who writes you is?
I also thought until that time that project managers were paying everyone with their tokens.

Telegram is full of scammers. Random people sent several messages to buy tokens even if the token is ended. They pretended to be admins, offers a unique chance to buy tokens.

Sure, my friend used to invest in a project called Sint, so he joined their telegram group. One of their administrators is called @PawelA, so my friend found "@PawelA" and chatted with him. "@PawelA" called My friend sent him 10 ETH,but this "@PawelA" is impersonating, he used the same avatar as the real one.

REAL!

FAKE!

10 ETH was easily cheated by scamer,I should not blame my friend for stupid because he lacks experience.
But this is really stupid because it is really easy to check.
I hope that everyone will check carefully in the future, especially the username. To be clear, the nickname does not equal the username.

I think the number please with the highest scammer now is telegram, in telegram someone will clone the CEO profile and started sending you private mmessage claim that they are the ceo. I guess the best way noe is to stay away from telegram invest and use website when ever you want to invest

I'm seeing this in pretty much every crypto telegram group I'm in.  Then there are copycat groups for real projects and exchanges that are completely fake, offering paid tech support services, listing, etc.

We've also had people see the conversations about specific exchanges in our group, and all of the sudden we've got scam emails with listing offers coming into our email inbox!

It seems that those scammers are making good profits, so they continue to try to scam more.
When I was a beginner, I trusted many people, so I scammed many times, and these scammers followed this principle.

So I hope that they are not only ignored but reported and tried to warn beginners.
Unfortunately, we have become more confident in Google's results and recommendations of social networking sites than using our minds.

Even in Discord community scammers will try to imitate the admin account and then contact you to have a transaction with him. Some scammers will try to convince you that they hacked a bitcoin gambling site and let you win and share the profit.

Like everything that you're presented in exchange for money. Slow down and ask yourself if it's too good to be true. BIIIIIIIITCONNNNNNNECT!!!!

A lot of people seem blinded by quick money and FOMO their money into the hands of people who are manipulating your psychology.

There's more to that, you can change your username.
So even checking if username is correct won't give you 100% peace of mind.
Of course if someone has access to someone's telegram account they can do what they wish but because it's possible to change your username makes it all easier, you only need 1 min access to someone's account to impersonate him.
