Title: Seeking 0.5BTC Loan - Collateral included
Post by: thesourc3 on October 08, 2018, 09:43:46 PM
Im seeking a 0.5BTC loan for 20 days until my paycheck comes through. I have the domain e d i c e . c o m as collateral, which is valuated at $4,100 on even the lowest domain valuation system. I have receipts showing where it was purchased for $5,000. The domain is 18 years old and is highly sought after in the gambling industry. I was considering selling it, but would much rather get a loan with it and receive it back. The collateral being offered is worth over 120% of the asking amount and can be sold on various sites for over $5,000.

I have the domain on a separate account which I can provide you access to and you change the password on, or I can transfer it to you and get it transferred back after the loan is paid off. Will be paying it off for sure. Thanks in advance.

I do have others but this one is probably worth the most out of all them. What is the most you would be able to lend for it? I will post some others here in a bit once i can find what Ive got.

Understood - THat is why I am asking for approx $3,200 even though the domain is appraised at $4,100. Its definitely worth at least that much. Anyhow, I will send you an email and see. Would definitely need to use escrow for both sides - Hopefully we can work something out.

Can you explain this (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5046380.0)?

Yes, I accidentally posted that on a bct account that I created recently thinking I was logged into this one. Let me actually remove that now. Thanks for pointing that out.

But as I said, I'd much rather get a loan than sell the domain if possible as I know that I will be getting paid within 2 weeks. If I have to sell the domain, I will but would rather not.

op may be planning to default on the loan, effectively 'selling' the domain by having the lender keep it as collateral. not saying that op for sure plans to do this, but it's happened before. besides, you shouldn't be taking something like domain names as collateral as they're not as easily liquidated compared to something like altcoins. but that's the lender's prerogative. if they feel they are comfortable by taking a domain name as collateral, by all means, do so.

Tried to update it but it wouldn't let me as it hasn't been 24 hours yet. I did however write this as a reply using the account I originally posted on to verify that it was indeed me.

And no I'm not trying to default on the loan. Rather, I initially was going to sell it but instead I figured I would try and get a loan for the short time I need it as I would much rather keep it if possible. If I end up not being able to get a loan or sell the domain in the next few days I will end up keeping it. I explained above, but I presume you didn't see before you posted.

yeah you posted in the time i was typing my post, it happens. I understand that you may be an honest individual and you may actually be planning to repay this loan, but this exact scenario has happened multiple times before in this board, and i would personally have users be more on the safe side than believing the words of a stranger over a couple thousand dollars worth of assets.

Completely understandable - I'm definitely looking to repay it, so hopefully I can link up with someone who can accomodate. Thanks for looking out for the community :)

I have one lender interested but they are request for less than what I requested. Still looking for the full amount so that I don't need to find another way to get the rest. The funds are for my mortgage + utilties btw.

"lender" ended up flaking out bc I requested to use an escrow intermediary here on BCT (ie. ognasty) - Still looking for this to be filled if anyone is able to. I'm willing to pay back 0.55BTC btw for the 20 day loan.

Ok...not sure why VoD left me negative feedback when I've been very clear about my intentions. ONCE AGAIN as it appears people don't read:

I initially was intending to sell the domain to hold me over until my next paycheck, but decided I would try and get a loan instead and I WOULD LIKE TO KEEP THE DOMAIN. YES I initially did have intentions of selling it, but I would much rather receive a loan and pay it back so that I can retain the domain. It's an 18 year old domain. I am not trying to lose it for less than what it is actually worth.

Hopefully this clears things up. I hate how people who aren't even involved in a deal can just leave you negative feedback just bc they feel like it. Makes absolutely no sense.

It annoys me when people don't read the reference link.    I don't trust you because you put your domain up for sale just two hours before asking for a loan.  When it comes time to buy it back for more than you go for it, you may decide you need the money elsewhere.

No you don't...

Thanks for looking out for the community :)

You're welcome.

For one, your edice.com domain isnt valid collateral. Just because you purchased it (if you did) for such an amount doesnt mean it would be sold for that amount otherwise you wouldve sold it by now for more than that and wouldnt be here. Two, you put your domain up for sale hours before asking for a loan. (http://archive.is/2lkcv) This tells me you had no intention of repaying, even if you "changed your mind" you still shown you had intention on selling it as well as you admitting to it because if the price of btc goes up and you cannot pay, you would pretty much say to the lender to keep the domain, which means the lender would be at a loss especially if they cannot sell the domain and would have to pay each year to keep the domain active thus waiting more money and they may have to sell it for less. Its not worth it. If you really want a loan against the domain, there are sites out there that does that, but people here will likely not take the risk or if they will they would do it for far less.

I would suggest that you lock the thread, or dont because you already got a negative feedback.

FYI: When you post on a PUBLIC FORUM, people have the right to leave feedback. It makes perfect sense. Dont want people to be involve, dont post.

Except that Im asking for a lot less than what I actually paid for the domain, so your logic doesn't make sense.

You say there are sites out there that give loans for domains. I've never heard of any, can you enlighten me on such a service?

That statement doesn't make sense.  Logic doesn't dictate you make a profit on everything.

Willing to accept 0.4BTC for the same collateral - This is less than 50% of the value of the domain. Again I just need funds to hold me over till the 1st of November.

Still looking for a loan - feel free to PM me with what you're able to offer for the collateral. I also have the domain b i t v a l e t . c o m which I would be willing to throw into the agreement. Thank you in advance.

Collateral not worth the trouble, even if the value is said to be what you claim it, it will not be easy to sell in case you default.

Would you consider a portion of the requested amount? If so, feel free to PM me with what you could offer. I'd still only need a loan till the 1st of Nov.

I ended up finding a suitable buyer at a decent price for the domain on namepros since i wasn't able to get a loan here. Figured I'd let everyone know so people don't leave negative feedback again for absolutely no reason. Thanks for your time if we had any pending loan offers.

This alone demonstrates that you in fact was looking to sell the domain and not to get a loan. The negative feedback is well deserved.
