Title: Ugh, just executed a market order instead of a limit....
Post by: thegoatiest on October 09, 2018, 07:29:59 PM
Panic is bad.
Tried to quickly put in a sell limit order as things seemed to be turning south, executed a market order. Lost profit.

One click of a button, easy.  ::)

In the age of the internet, financial ruin is just a few mouse clicks away.

??? I'm bit confused here. What has 'going south' to do with limit sell order? Do you mean "stop loss" order?

And how did you lose profit? If things were going south for you, your position was already in red, you just executed it. And you could always buy back losing only fees (unless you trade market with big spread).

Anyhow, shit happens. Live and learn.

I spotted the market was going down in advance, so i tried to sell my coins with a limit sell order - making a teeny tiny profit.. hopefully.
Instead I simply executed a market sell order, incurred taker fees and sold at a lower price than intended.
It does happen :)

Well, hopefully you didn't lose that much. Probably just lessen up your caffeine intake next time so you wouldn't panic that much. Shit happens sometimes m8. :P

You are not the first one man, and surely not the last one.
I once bought START instead of STRAT coin. START tuned out to be a long dead pump-and-dump project, so I lost some hundreds of $.
I left the day trading, too much stress for nothing, it was a life-lesson, tho.

With low volumes, the market seems to be heavily manipulated, and I suspect the stats are manipulated as well. I'm keeping away from short term trading, and just looking for buying opportunities for a long term holding - maybe a couple of years,
