Doesn't that look mighty suspicious?  They are in cahoots, or the man is trolling us...

This is fake, duh.

Then how did they back-date it on the SKS keyserver?

That's what I'm wondering (admittedly my pgp experience here is lacking) - how difficult is to forge the date stamp on these signatures?

Of course anyone could have made a key under that name right? It's not necessarily Dorian. But I'd be interested to know more about the authenticity of the time stamp of this event... anyone?

It's fake.  Someone even "signed" the key before it was made. -_-

Right, so it was inserted sometime in the last 3 months... not April 2013.

So the server just accepts a signature which already includes the date time of the signer, or what the signer says is the date and time. e.g. the signature could have been done offline ages ago... or they have just manually set the clock.

Learn something every day. :)

Personally I think Dorian=Satoshi and he is just having a little fun before the FULL story comes out on AP newswire tomorrow.   ;D

As there's no such thing as an absolute or 'verified time', a time-stamp can be set as anything by the signer, just like Alice can pre-or-post-date a handwritten letter to Bob to appear to have been authored at any time she likes.

You can do this too, just set your computer's clock to whatever date you like.

Try and test it :)

Then how did they back-date it on the SKS keyserver?

By hacking it? I've never even heard of the site. Who knows how secure it is.  The email address "mtn_sssh@hotmail.com" doesn't show up anywhere else on the web. Supposedly the Dorian S. Nakamoto sig was added in 2008, a few months before the genesis block was authored.

IMO this is b.s. How often did Dorian use S as his middle initial before this article came out?  His full name is "Dorian Prentice Satoshi Nakamoto" -  He'd likely use Dorian P. S. Nakamoto if he wanted to use include middle initials. It's only been after the story broke that people have been refering to to him as "Dorian S. Nakamoto", presumably to remind people that his name includes "Satoshi Nakamoto"

Seems really  unlikely to me.

Everyone can generate GPG key with any e-mail or date. This is why you should determine the validity of signatures and key itself by properly using web of trust.

P.S. I made genuine signature to satoshi's key. He have surprisingly few signatures despite the key's importance and being at spotlight of crypto community.

Of course he is Satoshi. People are still in denial?
Both use double spaces. Chance of coincidence is like generating two identical keypairs.

Double spaces is the proper way of writing (review an English guidebook) so that tells us nothing.

Dorian is clearly Satoshi though; it's clear that he is channeling John Galt on many levels.

He doesn't take a pseudonym or hide (instead working on his passion in plain sight), he sought no recognition for his accomplishments, he wore that anarcho-capitalist hat in plain sight (which is an analogue to the "dollar-sign" cigarettes Galt smoked), and by denying credit he lets his name is become the rallying cry ala "who is John Galt."
