Title: Why should governments accept Crypto currencies?
Post by: Kakmakr on October 12, 2018, 09:21:32 AM
We are led to believe that almost all governments are corrupt and that most officials and even leaders of the world are bought.

We saw this for instance with the US elections where rumours are doing the rounds that massive amounts of money were channelled from foreign countries to influence the outcome of the election. This money had to be laundered through shell companies via Banks and complex money laundering systems.

All of this leaves paper trails and this can later be followed and investigated to find the true origin of this money.

Now think about this, why would "corrupt" governments want to appose Bitcoin and Crypto currencies, if they can use it to hide their "corrupt" practices? Would it not make sense just to allow it and then use it to further their political aspirations?

The push back from these corrupt governments does not make any sense. Could it be that they know that Bitcoin and Crypto currencies are not "anonymous" at all and that these transactions can be traced and for this reason they are apposed to it?

Curious to know what you are thinking.  ;)

As regards bitcoin and cryptocurrencies been used by corrupt government officials to be safer with scrupulous transactions,i think you actually already provided the answer to that

Bitcoin transactions are much more transparent and considering the fact that everyone transaction is recorded on the blockchain technology for everyone to see,i think their conventional means should be a safer bet....

But I do not really feel that's the reason for a crack down on the system, its viewed as a direct threat to fiat, seen as a scam and a possible menace considering citizens could be in line to lose huge amounts of money,i think the government is trying to avoid that..
Also nations with dwindling economy and poor currency value, wouldnt want the introduction of a digital currency considering the fact they are still struggling to uphold their national currency

The Government will find it difficult to accept cryptocurrency because of it transparency and audit report done 0n the blockchain that can not be eraze. the Government control the centralized means of exchange where they tax banks and or other financial institutes illegally at the back door unknown to the public, this bribery and corruption of the Government is what leads to the crashing of financial cooperation downsizing and also leads to crashing down of companies who can't  meet up to their hidden terms and conditions .it will only take genuine leaders who are ready to be transparent to accept cryptocurrency .

when you control banks and all the transactions it is not hard for you to hide the corruption either. so you wouldn't need anything else but the same system that is already corrupt itself.

additionally bitcoin leaves the worse trail behind because it is visible to public whereas a trail in banks is only visible to the bank and internal affairs not to the public! and even if it leaks some day they can simply put it down by calling it conspiracy or something like that.

Government is not against crypto if they can regulate it. They need to get taxes from people hiding their wealth in crypto. The reason why bitcoin was created is to let go from a corrupt centralized system and yet, almost all of the exchanges are already regulated by the government and even crypto holders are being taxed.

When it comes to the government laundering money using crypto that would be a risk for them since blockchain technology is made public and everyone can view transactions being made.

Sometimes people can't accept changes in technology that can possibly ruin their ways of stealing money from the people.  ;D

Yes, you might control the Banks, but there are always some Whistle-blower that will come forward to expose the dark dealings or leak it out onto the internet. Why would you take that risk, if you can simply use a currency that guarantee your anonymity? How difficult will it be for some organization to create their own mixer service or even their own version of Dash with built-in anonymity to hide these corrupt practices?

We life in a terrible world, where money can buy you politicians and judges and police officials and even whole islands if you want to avoid paying taxes.  ::)

A 100% anonymous global currency must be a answer to their prayers.   ::)

Through blockchain payment will no longer be under the table. Blockchain could be the tool for transparency for the government transactions and the best thing is that we could trace it publicly without the hassle on going back and forth of the official in the their office. We can question some of the doubtful transactions.

The government could create their own crypto and it could be isolate the use exclusive for that certain country only for there will be a conflict if it will be introduce to other nations like the US congress who disapprove the ETF for bitcoin for they know that some of the nations will by bypassed the purchasing power of dollars. This will let the US government to fall down if dollars will be handed to other country.

You are getting closer to the truth. Capital control is one of the main reasons why they want to stop Crypto currencies. They want to transfer "money" anonymously, but they do not want other people to do it too.  ;)

I predict a future where GovCoins will emerge. These coins will replace "public" Blockchains like Bitcoin and it will be private. <invite only>

It will be fully controlled by these governments and they will be able to "manipulate" or hide some transactions from the public.  ::)

It is much easier to put pressure on a bank or other financial structure when it is necessary to hide the movement of illegal funds, and besides here corruption schemes have long been worked out and are more common for dishonest officials. Bitcoin is another matter, where, on the one hand, transactions can be tracked if desired, and on the other, there is actually no person or group of people on whom you can influence to hide transactions.

The government is still checking the use of bitcoin, it is difficult to track bitcoin users because it is anonymous.
So the government must have a special team for this case, but this is not easy.

the government should use bitcoin for the purpose of security, like avoiding money counterfeiting, and it is unhackable the best feature of it.

Here are some strong reasons why the government must be willing to accept digital currency:

To increase net worth. Our cash will now gradually decrease its selling value if we keep it too long. Unlike the case if we hedge on Cryptocurrency, at least we can get the opportunity to increase the value of the money we save.
Technology. The technology behind Cryptocurrency is Blockchain, where no institution or country can control transactions and the value of the digital currency. Blockchain has a transaction log ledger that can be accessed by everyone without any cheating, because basically the Blockchain Ledger is managed by all users around the world.
Good track record. Since Bitcoin and other crypto currencies are released, investors are greatly benefited by price spikes from time to time. Therefore, investing in Cryptocurrency gives us the opportunity to increase our assets over time.

because they can not hide their corrupt practices on the blockchain which is a distributed and open ledger for the whole world to see. at least not with bitcoin they can't and also it is the problem that they can not have any control over bitcoin whatsoever.
on top of it all there is the problem with volatility and volume. the corrupt government w ants to make huge transactions and have stability not small amounts while losing money because of price falls.

The point is, not everyone wants and accepts bitcoin, so they will have a hard time dealing with bitcoin and cryptocurrencies just to launder money, and to know that most governments are already watching the movements of such coins, it will even be harder to establish connections with cryptocurrencies rather than using the established networks of fiat and banks. Also, the trail can easily be extinguished in fiat rather than bitcoin and other crypto, so why make the rash decision of using a somewhat publicized transaction rather than something that's essentially hidden if you paid the right amount at the right people?

with the age of bitcoin that has been 9 years bitcoin I think it will continue to grow with its blockchain technology

In fairness with the government it only wants the welfare of the people. It does not want us to lose and be a burden to the government. That is why they see to it that the bitcoin is beneficial to the people.

Because bitcoin price is unpredictable that the government is not confident in legalizing it. And also many people do not have knowledge about it, some people rejects it. The government should accept crypto for the security of transactions and other stuffs.

Because the right people can turn into the wrong people. You only need to piss off the wrong people, for them to turn on you and to leak the information to the authorities and also the media.

When there is no intermediaries, then corruption is much easier. Only two people are needed in a P2P Bitcoin transaction and nobody will ever know where that money has gone.

Bitcoin is much harder to trace than fiat transactions.  ::)

Governments are well aware that cryptocurrencies are future and that they have to keep the step with time. Still not without any condition and regulation is one of them. This is the process that has already started in many countries and I expect to be further developed more and more.
Cryptocurrencies can't be escaped any more and more and more people will use them so governments will have to find the way how to best implement them in economy.

Governments do not have to approve bitcoin or the blockchain technology in their states if they intend to use it for illegal activities.
They can easily run foreign accounts

The push back from majority of developing countries could be down to the leaders not being pro active. And refusing to change with the times.

The transactions of cryptocurrencies are way more transparent and every transaction is being recorded on the blockchain and it is open for everyone to see. So, transaction of fiat money thorugh the conventional way is far more safe to a corrupt government. Besides, the government does not want to accept cryptocurrency because of its decentralized system and unstability of price.

Well, nothing can be considered as fixed and not to be so pessimistic. Govt. can accept the crypto as a step of acquiring the global coin, not only to carry on their illegal activities. Also, it might affect the national market, but it will push the individuals to progress such will eventually be beneficial for the country.

Cryptocurrency is gaining recognition as a form of currency worldwide and if the government gets on board it will be beneficial to both the people and the country. But, as there are benefits to it there are a lot of things to consider so we can only tell what'll happen with time.

Governments have signaled their forthcoming plans and plan to legislate and regulate crypto money around the world, and it seems that the largest financial and banking institutions are waiting for the decisions. Clearer before they continue to plan to enter the market. Việc hợp pháp crypto, overcome the corruption that banks suffer, help invest users peace of mind with the money invested.

I think you look at it the other way round, they can't corrupt when blockchain is involve. The blockchain will record everything from where the money is and where it goes, that's when they can't corrupt. but that is not exactly why the government oppose cryptocurrencies. The government isn't run by the people but run by few individuals like the Rothschild who runs banking system and money system in the world. With blockchain, these guys can't control anything, they'd be less powerful.

I don't think that's the reason. First of all, not many governments explicitly oppose cryptocurrencies. The world is becoming more and more crypto friendly with time, as we hear about plans of states to create their own cryptos. Second of all, official opposition to cryptocurrencies can be used to lead people to believing that the govs want everything to be traceable and transparent, but nobody can forbid officials to use cryptos at the same time. Kind of like Kim Jong Un loving Disneyland as a kid, but yet forbidding everyone else to be there.

I believe that the government will not accept cryptocurrency for a long time. But if we consider the fact that a cryptocurrency can save us from the percentage deducted to third parties, then it is beneficial for all. Both for legal entities and individuals. But it is not beneficial to banks. Therefore, the question of benefits for the government.

If the government accepts cryptocurrencies, then people will no longer be held hostage. People will start to earn only themselves. I think the government will not do this. Then the state income from commercial enterprises will disappear. Or, if the government accepts cryptocurrencies, it will make the same systems as now (banks, interest, taxes, and so on).

Also, the government is dissatisfied with the fact that it does not receive taxes from transactions that are perfect with the help of cryptocurrencies. However, cryptocurrencies make it possible to keep information about their income, in secret from persons who do not have the right to receive this information.

Governments around the world are either actively working on some form of digital currency or exploring the topic.Governments have very different priorities, and decentralization a main feature of most cryptocurrenices including bitcoin doesn't tend to be one of them. In fact, government digital currencies could herald a new era of centralization, posing serious questions about privacy and the viability of true cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

Bitcoin and blockchain cannot be control and trace that is the reason why government don't like bitcoin. They are afraid that bitcoin will fail and vanish like a bubble that will lead to massive loss of money of the investors investing and believing in cryptos. Government doesn't want that to happen.

As for using bitcoin in doing transactions and hiding corruption of government officials will be an advantage and very useful tool to them as you have mentioned that it is recorded in blockchain and that no one can trace it (like what we believed in). But governments can do almost everything they want. They can hide their identities by cooperating and paying banks they use in doing transactions. Blockchain will ot be needed in order to do that. As long as they get what they wanted using the old system, they won't be needing bitcoin and blockchain.

I think government will need to accept bitcon because it can help our country in many terms and aspects especially in the number one problem in the world which is poverty. All we know that poverty is the biggest problem at any country but when government will ooen their mind and will be realistic in accepting and using bitcoin poverty will reduce because bitcoin can be source of income to provide their family needs. It can also make netizens more comfortable and make their business transaction easier.  And I think it will be posaible in a long time process because all we know that there are so many negative people about bitcoin even it already proved that it can help all of us.

Politicians are corrupt everywhere, the fact that everyone knows!!

Government authorities are more interested in fulfilling their personal interests over the welfare of their countrymen. And in order to give boost to their personal corrupt motives, they can go to any limits.

And how can then we expect them to shift entirely to a system that is decentralized, beyond their control and is transparent; which apparently are the characteristic traits of the crypto market. So this is obvious that the government officials will not promote the crypto market.

Frankly speaking, no government will implement a decentralized open system with regards to currency, but if this happens then the population of every country will be having less issues with ease of use, transparency, ownership and issues with inflation. Governments should consider using crypto.

They are afraid of the developments of the blockchain technology and what it might bring in the near future. Freedom of information and a smart city run fueled by crypto and blockchain, no more hiding the details. They are stopping the roots of crypto and it is BTC and they are making all they can to cut it in order to stop it further. Imagine elections with the use of blockchain where people have their pk's with them and a blockchain network that cannot be breach and manipulated by the governments, these are just some possibilities.

the government must accept the crypto currency because it is very profitable for a country, especially a country that is difficult to advance. with crypto received, what the government wants will be achieved. but this needs control and regulation if the crypto currency is safe.

There are many reasons for the government to accept Bitcoin and Cryptocurrency. In particular, countries with high inflation need to release or use Bitcoin as a common currency to reduce inflation. Bitcoin cannot add so it can not exploit and will be solved.

Because they are very much suitable for this and government can keep a track on every transaction.See Bitcoin is based in blockchain technology and if they can accept blockchain why can't they accept crypto.I agree it decentralized currency but still it can improve the financial system and can make it more transparent.Another main reason is if Bitcoin comes the popularity suddenly goes above dollars and that can bring equality in terms of currency in the market which dirty global politics.

If we think paper money is unlimited, it's the right choice for bribery. Bitcoin has a limit and it is impossible to increase or decrease unlike paper money. Crypto can definitely take counter-fraud in the economy, so it is not accepted.

the government should use bitcoin for the purpose of security, like avoiding money counterfeiting, and it is unhackable the best feature of it.

Bitcoin can indeed avoid money counterfeiting, but remember that in addition to good features Bitcoin also has weaknesses that can harm the government, that is Bitcoin cannot be tracked so that crime, money laundering (corruption) and tax evasion can occur using Bitcoin, so before accepting Bitcoin the government must first think of ways so that this cannot happen if the government legalizes Bitcoin.

Exactly. Everyone can benefit from the advantages of crypto, even people from the government. So in essence, they can't be against crypto. Perhaps they're just taking time to really study it? I'm sure the government and crypto can co-exist in the future.

Curious to know what you are thinking.  ;)

A corrupt government will not accept something that create evidence of its corrupt practises.

They created Banks and they support them in their exploitive behaviour. <Giving them Bailouts when they fail>  ::) In any way, Bitcoin cannot be traced if you use it in the correct way, so why would they worry about "evidence" if Bitcoin hides their evidence?

The power of corruption is when you can do this without being caught and they are getting caught regularly with their hands in the money bags.  ::)

If they add their own mixer services for these transactions, then the tx's will never be traced.

There are a number of benefits for the government to accept cryptocurrencies as well as there are a lot of disadvantages for the government with the use of cryptos. Cryptocurrencies are a fluid source or mean of payment and can give various opportunities to earn a stable income which keeps them much profitable and if government drew some attwntion towards them, than they can help stabilize the financial situations of the respected country.

Whereas accepting cryptocurrencies may also lead for a number of disadvantages which may include anonymous transactions leading for major illegal uses. This is what is not expected by the government and hence i think that always hesitate in the use for cryptocurrencies.

Also cryptocurrencies are been considered as a decentralised mean of payment which does not allow their transactions to be tracked and also has a lot more features which makes them completely opposite to the cebtralised currencies. Governments from each country can never make cryptocurrencies overrule their centralised currencies.

every day that you go to work or school,... why don't you use a tank as your transfer vehicle? it is much safer and can protect you from accidents. you don't use it because there is an easier way. you fasten your seatbelt and go within speed limit and you will be safe enough.

in your scenario you are saying the corrupt  government is already hiding their tracks, they already have banks to bail them out, print money, have full control,... and dozens of other benefits. then you say they should give it all up for a traceable and decentralized currency that they have no control over!. no matter what you think bitcoin is not anonymous even with using a mixer. and they will be caught even more if they use something like bitcoin.
if you said Monero or any anon coin like that then you could have an argument although I'd still say that disadvantages are still more.

But if will become open and accept the good benefits it has and discover the catch of crypto currency for sure they would accept the system or adapt it. But not in accordance what they want it to be happen because it is decentralize while the government was centralize.

I really do not think that this is about that, this is about power and influence, governments of the world have a monopoly when it comes to currencies, in the past this was not the case, when gold was used as the main form of money around the world not only countries had the capability of creating their own coins, anyone that had gold could create their own coin and it could be accepted as long as it was made of gold and had a precise weight.

But governments outlawed that practice, then they created paper money which was backed by gold, and then when they got people to accept that form of money they stopped backing the currencies with gold and that is why we have fiat currencies, they love that system and they are not going to let it go unless they are forced to.

Also, the path will simply be destroyed in rescript instead of bitcoin and different crypto, thus why create the rash call of employing a somewhat heralded group action instead of one thing that is basically hidden if you paid the proper quantity at the proper people?

But I think there is one reason why some governments won't easily accept cryptocurrencies is because of the coin's lack of central authority. In other word, decentralization is the primary reason why Igovernments are afraid of the cryptocurrency. To be honest, there is no other option for the government that is beneficial to everyone. If the government is not recognising Bitcoin or any other cryptocurrency then the users might use it without the permission of the government and there is a threat of an increase in misuse of legal channels for an illegal purpose. On the other hand, the government can monitor the crypto funds flow by recognising it in the eyes of law and punish them who are using it for the unlawful purpose.

Governments should accept cryptos for the simple fact that it would benefit themselves and the rest of society. They’re interested in crypto and blockchain too and they just want to ensure that they’re receiving tax dollars and that money isn’t going toward illicit use, am I right?

I think that is what they fear, or maybe because they do not know for sure whether the blockchain can actually be tracked or not, but from the start of some developed countries that accept BTC in their country, we can conclude that there are some countries that do not use btc is money laundering if they know that blockchain can be tracked, and there are also rumors saying that BTC is made by cia, but that is just a rumor that is uncertain.

Fear of losing control could be the main reason for the oppositions. Blockchain is too transparent. Unlimited money won't be printed anymore.

Facists fear what they can't control. Most of the politicians are actually fascists or puppets of fascists. A true leader who practices what he preach wouldn't undermine the growth of Cryptocurency. He instead would go into serious Blockchain research rather than kill it

Taxes are needed, but minimal. It is important - the first three years, for example, the ICO should be exempted from taxes. And then the country will receive: a) huge liquidity (one ICO - the budget of a region or even a few small ones); b) new funds on deposits; c) new business entities; d) a huge labor market; e) additional funds from related services (purchase of traffic, payment for the work of specialists).

First of all Bitcoin is not completely anonymous. It is pseudo anonymous which means it can be traced to you with the help of some sort of information. Secondly, the transactions are completely transparent. Thus we will know what happening with the funds they received. Any sort of unusual behavior in their wallets would raise questions.  They will no longer be able to steal peoples money. If they can't steal those money, what will they be hiding through these wallets? Corruption will actually drop down for which the Government is scared to accept bitcoin.

Transactions can be traced if you know who are the owners of those specific addresses that you are tracking.

On their part, cash is more anonymous, no trace left if they are into corruption. Unlike bitcoin, if they do something with their balances, traces are left and its recorded on the network so that can be an issue for them. But I like to see it being adopted because they believe on it and understands it perfectly, not because they have hidden agenda.

With Bitcoin all it becomes easy, Bitcoin has many advantages of the ordinary Fiat money and the government must indeed receive Bitcoin because it has been a demands. Old or fast Bitcoin will be received by the whole country in the world, and the government must also introduce this bitcoin to the community, so they are not outdated and modern growth of technology as it is today.

It's pretty obvious that if you are a corrupt government is easy to hide your not so good activities, unless some government is incompetent of course or don't want to do it.

However, not necessarily corrupt governments don't like crypto. We tend to see a pattern of "authoritarian" regimes who likes to do those kind of things mostly. The rest is just people who don't understand the possibilities of Bitcoin/Blockchain or don't care at all about it.

In fact, even the dictators of Venezuela were advised to develop using Blockchain and create something that can deceive some as cryptocurrency when it isn't. Especially taking into consideration that they will run away with that money if they have the chance, mark my words.

The short answer is, Bitcoin is the future.

Precisely. Those who don’t embrace technology will obviously get left behind and will deprive themselves of its many benefits and advantages. Out with the old, in with the new, as they'd say. And besides, even the government can benefit greatly form blockchain and cryptos, that’s why they should accept it.

I think its not legalized yet because once legalized it will be under lot of scrutiny maybe by special elected bodies. But now, its a perfect path for them to conduct illegal and dirty activities. So, it is more beneficial for them that bitcoin stays unofficial. Also, they might be thinking of possible market instability, however, once legalized I think there will be more stable market.
It does not seem that politicians are not accepting bitcoin because of the crimes they think they can commit with it, they already have the banking system and their connections to do that, after all how do you think that people are able to launder billions of dollars every year? They are doing this with the help of the banks, so bitcoin is not going to help them that much especially when the market is so small compared to fiat.

They are not accepting cryptocurrencies because they understand that they will lose control over the population if they do that and governments do not really care about the well being of their citizens, they only care about the control they have over them, so they prefer a poor and ignorant population that is easy to control than an educated and prosperous population.

waves of investors continue to grow with or without their support, one day this volume will also have an impact on fiat with a negative connotation, at least the government must continue to do research and try to apply it to the public sphere. Nobody really can be prevented from using the internet. The government must keep making it in accordance with their economic corridors.

Curious to know what you are thinking.  ;)
It's political, because the majority of these corrupt politicians are using cryptocurrencies in one way or the other. As I'm telling you now there was a time not long ago, 6-7 months ago, a senator in my country claims about owning some decent about of bitcoins on his social media account. the crypto currency is a technological breakthrough that is quite good, and many people now want to have crypto currency, and have been used as a long-term investment that is considered to be beneficial for everyone. There is nothing wrong with the crypto currency, but indeed some people make the crypto currency a negative activity that we can say against the law, such as money laundering and so on. The crypto currency is here to help the government reduce unemployment or create jobs and help the government economy and provide welfare to everyone, for that the government should support the existence of crypto currency so that it can develop better and benefit all people.

So the government must accept bitcoin because bitcoin has been accepted in many countries. One of the advantages of using bitcoin is to eliminate corruption, because the platform is decentralized and open so that it controls each other.

This is something I disagree with, governments should do that and that should be their goal, but as soon as a politician is elected he only cares about trying to benefit himself out of his position of power, to try to become more powerful, to avoid being caught when he commits criminal acts and to try to make his political party even more powerful, maybe you noticed that citizens are not mentioned even once and that is because they only care about them when they need their vote, the rest of the time it is as if they do not exist.

If they cared about their citizens they should be looking for a way to integrate bitcoin to the economy but instead they are only trying to create obstacles and laws against it.

Curious to know what you are thinking.  ;)

Government nust accept cryptos and think that they are not that threat thing to their eaenings. Although crypto is decentralized means no one is holding it or controlling it, they must believe that it is a good thing to their people. They must not consider it as a thing that will break or disturb their profits. Cryptos are useful today in many ways. And many people are into it because it is has positively impact to us.

Governments have begun to make each and everything digital for easy accessibility as well to increase the efficiency. The same is necessary for the financial system which can be fulfilled with the cryptocurrencies. Here governments fear of the volatility as well as the decentralized functioning. Hope the change happens when the countries adopting bitcoin grow massive in all form.

The reason is that cryptocurrencies has so many things to offer the world and this is the case they are frowning at it. It has now been integrated into so many industries and its still moving on.

but governments don't want to lose control over the financial market and monetary policy and cryptocurrency can break their power.

I think that it will not be a quick adoption of the Cryptocurrencies by governments because they are designed under decentralized control. What will happen to the Banks that are created under centralized control? There will be many answers in Pro as against.
For example, a country model with a lack of liquidity and its consequences, poor citizens, institutions, and companies with problems to maintain their pillars.

The government adopts Bitcoin to receive capital and invest in the country with the pretense of improving its economy that would be a good way.
Corruption would disappear because crypto is transparent.
For this to happen, it takes time and it would mean a big step.

if the government only applies it as a stock asset, or even one goal with the fiat token concept, it might be the best solution. But it seems they have not understood in detail because they are used to full policy control in the system, they cannot engage in blockchain transactions from the user to user and this makes the burden of official responsibility and so on.
This will help the government to eliminate slow transactions and delays with the current system. The improvements will have a great bodies to handle more developments in terms of spending and the freedom of financial system will become more advantage to a certain residents of a country.

Crypto is for the people and that is what the people want once they become familiar with the concept and benefits of cryptocurrencies. Also, cryptocurrencies generate more job opportunities within a country which eventually boost the economy of that country.

The government should accept the cryptocurrency as a legitimate payment, because the benefits it brings to the consumer are far greater than the losses that the government incurs. Government should sacrifice for the benefit of the community
If governments worked only for the good of the country and society, it would be almost utopia. Alas, in the modern world, people tend to work in the government only to improve their own financial condition and, occasionally, to meet their ambitions.

It is very naive to think corruption is going to disappear just because bitcoin is transparent, what it is going to stop the politicians to just use Monero as a way to hide their activities the same way many people are doing now? Corruption is always going to exist since humans are not morally or ethically perfect so there is always going to be people trying to find a way to benefit themselves by violating the rules or breaking the law, that is just human nature.

In fact it is likely that this will increase corruption because even if the politicians that are discovered engaging in acts of corruption will keep the money they stole since it is going to be very difficult to recover the coins they are storing in their wallets.

yes bitcoin transactions are traceable as we all know, it is a decentralized system of transactions where a third party can know what was transacted at any given point in time, this is why the government will not want to embrace this currency in order to ease their corrupt practices.

Now many industries such as the business sectors and health are all integrated with the blockchain technology and it is working good for them. In no time they will all come into one accord and use only the blockchain. The governments should know that they have seen the feature that the blockchian can provide and they have bought into that idea it is going to take them far.

There are many loopholes for money laundering, sending wallet hardware that contains the easiest digital assets to do and that is not through recording transactions. Whatever it depends on each individual, even fiat is most widely used for illegal transactions even though bitcoin also has the same opportunities. I think this is not a problem that must be debated, the state must immediately make regulations to reduce money laundering and regulate exchanges so as not to misuse criminals.

Corruption can cover anykind of system, even blockchain, bitcoin or any form of cryptocurrency. The thing that I can see in bitcoin or blockchain is that all transactions are traceable regardless it is anonymous in the first level of security. If transactions are traceable, the only thing to solve is who ows that transaction which can be in my opinion with a deeper skills in security and other option can be manage to track down. That is why corrupt government official don't want this.

Sometimes people can't accept changes in technology that can possibly ruin their ways of stealing money from the people.  ;D
The reasons why still government not allow or accept cryptocurrencies is they can't control or regulate because of its being decentralized. If the government wil allow cryptocurrencies many people will use it and the government will be have low funds because it is tax free.

Right mate, being decentralized its hard for them to control or even collect income tax for every individual gaining income from bitcoin. One thing I see why they are hesitant on bitcoin is because it makes people rich and can possibly affect the countries economic performance since it is usual that a rich people can buy many things and thus changing market supply and in effect the price of commodities will go higher and can make inflation go higher.

I don't think that all governments are bad people, I pretend that some of governments member are good people who trying to protect their citizens from those "big hands". World is played now, I realize it. There is some chance that government will accept bitcoin as those good people in government will still try to fight, it's not only for the case of bitcoin acceptance. I think the main reason why government is against crypto is because of it anonymity. Although to me crypto is not totally anonymous but it can be difficult and expensive to trace. In some countries such as England where the major source through which government generate revenue is through paying of tax. such country will never want to adopt crypto because it will be difficult to manage the tax system even though i still believe there are government inside a government that use crypto to steal money from the government ;D

First of all I don't agree that there is a push back of crypto. Some governments accept its existence and make nice profit from this (from taxes or from confiscations, vide US or Bulgaria)

Then, I don't agree that bitcoin (pseudonymous not anonymous in its deepest nature) would allow to hide anything from public. Actually, it makes every financial operation transparent.

Lastly, the pseudonymous nature of bitcoin and inability of citizens to hide their transactions from government makes it ideal for governments. So again, we are back at sqare one - governments accept its existence, don't push it back.

Summing up, I don't agree with the OP on many levels

There must be democracy in the world, and the man himself must make a decision ! The governments themselves knows that cryptocurrencies are going to be the future of the world because everyday people try to integrate it with something different and they dont want to accept. One thing they have to know is that, crypto is the future and the revolutionizer of the world and should be accepted.
Governments are not interested in the progress of humanity they only care about keeping their power and nothing more, it is obvious that something like cryptocurrencies are going to improve the life of people by giving them a better form of money that cannot be falsified and that cannot be taken away in any way or form, but that will also mean that the enormous control they have over the population will weaken and that is something they hate so they will oppose cryptocurrencies.

This creates a dilemma among people especially those that are very patriotic, do they support what it is best for the people in general or do they support their government? And many people will choose to support the people and not their governments.

just cryptocurrency and ICO do not have much changes, but new technologies improve business processes and if they are accepted by the population, the movement and implementation is fast.

There are lot of other reasons that every government should support Bitcoin and there is no government claim that after they legalized Bitcoin their economy suffer.

Cryptocurrency as a form of payment eliminate corruption and breed trust due to the transparency in the storage of all transactions of the Blockchain. Cryptocurrency and Blockchain offers job opportunities to the people (mining, bounty hunting, trading, developers, bounty managing etc). This will enhance the economy of the country.

This is similar to the question: why should businesses accept bitcoin payments?
Bottom line is, any institution will benefit from crypto, and that includes the government.
I agree that embracing crypto/blockchain will help keep any organization ahead of the game. I think it’s similar to how social media has been embraced as a powerful platform of advertising and marketing. I mean, brands who don’t have social media presence are like non-existent to consumers, right? The same applies for crypto. Not adopting it is like a means to refuse progress.

It is their right to accept or refuse bitcoin and we cannot force them do it, this is similar to what happens in the personal level when it comes to adoption, I am sure that in the future people are going to see us and are going to claim that our earnings in bitcoin and in fiat were unfair and that we should give them back, but the truth is that anyone is free to join or not the community and like in any other business those that join the earliest are the ones that makes the most profits.

Governments are also facing a similar problem, if they join now they could obtain great profits in the future but they may be giving up some control of the economy but those that join at the end are not going to get as many benefits as those that do it earlier and that is why they do not know what to do.

One of the main reasons why the governments must accept cryptocurrency is that it has the capabilities of raising the status of the economy of a country through the creation of job opportunities and offering financial freedom to the people. With the immutable digital ledger feature of the Blockchain technology, corruption can be curbed because all transactions are recorded and cannot be altered.

Curious to know what you are thinking.  ;)
In fact, there was information that the money received from the Russian authorities to intervene in the elections, which were held in the United States, was in Bitcoin. So any money is used for corruption, including cryptocurrency.
In general, a corrupt government can use money in any form, including cryptocurrency, for its dirty purposes and it is not necessary for them to allow circulation of cryptocurrency in their country to do so.

Even though Bitcoin is decentralized and that is one of the reasob why Government did want Bitcoin because they can not control it. I agree that if you say most of the state officials are corruptors because with the electoral system they need huge costs for the campaign, those who are not enough capital will ask for support here and there, money laundering occurs, and after doing things the first thing they think about is how they returned campaign capital that led to corruption, many people think with bitcoin because it is anonymous which has the potential for money laundering but I think you are right that bitcoin can still be traced, that's why corrupt governments still don't want to accept bitcoin because they think it will be which is in vain, maybe they will even have more rivals in carrying out their corrupt actions

I guess the government should start accepting cryptocurrency especially bitcoin since it is standing 9 years in the internet and reliable means of payment. What stopping the government to accept cryptocurrency is the currency financing system we had that they built over years and fiat currency can't be just disappear in a click. It is not because of corruption, it is because we can't withstand our life without fiat.

When transactions are made in Crypto, the likelihood of corruption will be very low because transactions will be made quickly and without intermediaries. The nature of corruption is the stealing of money through intermediaries, which in turn causes the receipt of money to be leached much more than the amount of money sent.

Bitcoin's idea is mainly about decentralization, financial freedom, and the third party cancellation
This is contrary to the centralization of governments and the control of the local currency even indirectly through central banks
And do not forget the economy of banks on which the traditional economy is based will be threatened
It requires maturity and new formulations of ideas, dialogues and perhaps some concessions on both sides.

Curious to know what you are thinking.  ;)

I think it would make sense for governments to accept cryptocurrency specifically bitcoins to develop the technological advancement of the country. But if they cannot handle the overall economic factor cryptocurrency has, then their economy might be disrupted or worse, collapse.

The politicians that are not corrupt are in the minority and most of them are from the opposition parties. I agree with you that most politicians are still clueless about this technology, but they have skilled advisors that are knowledgeable to advise them. <These people are usually targeted by bribes, because they have influence over these politicians>  >:(

The government must be able to accept the existence of crypto currencies, because crypto currencies will not harm the government, and the fact that the existence of crypto currencies can help the government in the welfare of its people. Indeed, there are some parts where crypto currencies are considered anonymous and cannot be tracked exactly who they are, so we often hear misuse of currencies such as money laundering and so on. But in my opinion it is not an excuse for the government to reject the presence of crypto currencies, because if the government is serious in supporting the existence of crypto currencies, the government can actually track every crypto currency owner, through transactions or bank accounts that they do through the crypto currency.

Acceptance of bitcoin by the government really takes time and needs a lot thorough studies on government side.Government is after only on the betterment of his countrymen. For sure the government has foreseen the problems that may arise when they allowed  cryptocurrency on the future use.
Cryptocurrency has many good attributes.A decentralized currency with high value and a lot of uses. For now, lets just hope that government is making the best for his people

I don't think that government in general needs to accept it. Government will introduce taxes too this sphere and it'll loose all of it charm and advantages

Because, 1. bitcoin is a currency that is not regulated by any central bank. 2. bitcoin can be the best investment  3. Because Bitcoin does not have an intermediary, transactions can be done without any limits.

If the government accept cryptocurrency as official, what will happen if the crises occur? When there is a crises government can influence it to a certain degree through emission. With crypto money it is impossible to regulate

maybe because accepting payments using cryptocurrency crime can be reduced even when doing transactions can create a very high sense of security and very fast delivery.

If bitcoin is a useful currency to every one and it is the beat way to send your funds through out the boarders so governments can use it for payment in different countries and if the government support bitcoin it's value will be ten times stronger than now and i hope that in the near future it's value will be rise but now we are waiting for the news of opening doors to the bitcoin by the Big economies like US and China and it will impact on the whole world.

Goverment is difficult to control crypto it has a record and transparency. It can trace your name and even your transactions. Thats why they will not allowed to regulate any crypto because they hide something for thier own businesses like corrupting.

Curious to know what you are thinking.  ;)

I think the government should start accepting bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies because they are pretty helpful when it comes to transferring money from one person to another. The only problem I see why the government didn't gave cryptocurrency a greenlight is that people can use it to launder money.

There are many benefits government and banks can experience thanks to Bitcoin and blockchain. But there is a difference between governments entering the crypto world and accepting the rules (decentralization, transparency, etc) and governments setting regulations to control crypto. The first option will be benefitial for everyone.

Governments have altogether different needs, and decentralization — a fundamental component of most cryptocurrenices including bitcoin — doesn't tend to be one of them. Indeed, cryptocurrencies could proclaim another period of centralization, offering genuine and serious questions about privacy and the feasibility of true cryptocurrencies like bitcoin.

this must be done so that the government can further develop its economy. so that the government can compete with any country. at present, technology development in the financial sector is very rapid. all countries have used technology to transact so that the government must improve the quality of human resources in order to compete. and the government must be able to use technology for economic progress. so that the government can transact with other countries that have used financial technology.

Governments that are more innovative and secure seem to have a different view about crypto, and that they realize the importance of cryptocurrencies in our world today. For instance, Japan has already accepted bitcoin as a legal tender, while regulating the trade in the country. So of course, governments can benefit from crypto as well. And didn’t bitcoin account for a remarkable portion of GDP growth in Japan?

Well, maybe if they accept bitcoin to hide their "corrupted asset", maybe they will be found out by other peoples about their corruption.
Actually, some of the coins are anonymous enough if you not using any centralized exchange to transact your coins, for example Monero.

Bitcoin's transactions can be found on sites like Blockchain.info, that is the reason these decentralized cryptocurrency is not really a great currency to use on private transactions like on the Deep Web, also the reason why a lot of criminals are caught there.

There are a lot of other cryptocurrencies that is more anonymous than Bitcoin for example Monero. Even if Bitcoin is legalized on a country, they will not be able to hide their dark secrets at the back of Bitcoin since we all can see that on the country. The country reflects what they are doing with the funds, the taxes they are collecting.

but it does not mean a necessity to accept and legalize crypto if it is concerned only with the development of new technology?
even the government can make more sophisticated technology with fiat to create a new digital currency,
need a reason that is more urgent to make the government want to legalize crypto

Good question... Every government should think about cryptocurrency. The biggest advantage of cryptocurrency for government is Security. The technology used in the cryptocurrency is highly secured and decentralized. There is no involvement of any third party or central authority. So, ultimately trust factor of government over the citizen of the country will increase. That centralization could provide governments with some world-changing capabilities. The government spends lots of money on security and privacy that money would be saved.

Sometimes people can't accept changes in technology that can possibly ruin their ways of stealing money from the people.  ;D

You got the perfect answer.

Yes this is right and many government start thinking to accept crypto currency, the reason behind this is the cost on paper currency is much higher and the second thought is security.the technology of Bitcoin is more secure and decentralised and any transaction on this Blockchain you cannot erase that transaction. No third party involment is there in crypto currency transaction.

So,government should accept cryptocurrency for the sake pf many people and to minimized poverty in every country. I think there is no obligation for the government to accept bitcoin as a payment tool in the country. This is evident in many countries that bitcoin is prohibited. The main problem is that Bitcoin is allegedly a place for laundering money from crime. Even though on the other hand bitcoin has added value for the government of a country if it is willing to legalize bitcoin, among others, increased investment transactions in the field of digital finance, suppressing inflation due to the strengthening of the USD currency, etc.

when you control banks and all the transactions it is not hard for you to hide the corruption either. so you wouldn't need anything else but the same system that is already corrupt itself.

additionally bitcoin leaves the worse trail behind because it is visible to public whereas a trail in banks is only visible to the bank and internal affairs not to the public! and even if it leaks some day they can simply put it down by calling it conspiracy or something like that.
if you want the world without corruption, all countries should start using crypto currencies, because with a decentralized system all suspicious transactions can be detected by law enforcement.
but crypto also provides a lot of convenience for business people between countries, because with a single currency there will be no more inflation which is usually always a frightening threat to export and import actors.
all countries should realize the extraordinary potential offered by bitcoin and the government wants to facilitate bitcoin users in their countries.

It might be, and it also one factor is that crypto currency never give assurance to the people and they feels anytime it gone forever. They'll afraid that could lead into money laundering due to its anonymity of any crypto holder and it is already used for some illegal activities in some countries. They can't trace them and there could made them hard to solve the problem. But when it finally regulated by the government, there might be a huge change in the market most specially for the individuals identification.

Governments should accept bitcoin and crypto due to there potential qualities and the good they can do to local businesses by improving there processes but some governments and people say corrupt politicians and other criminals use crypto or bitcoin to hide there income and black money but there is no solid evidence to believe such accusations are true and also if majority of corrupt politicians and criminals has already hide there money in bitcoin and crypto do you believe that this huge price drop can occur because we know much big money criminals earn from there dirty work so with that kind of money flow how can bitcoin or crypto price keeps decreasing so I think such accusations are meaningless and negligible

To me this has to do more with their bosses, some of the most powerful men around the world, which tells them what they need to do, and it is clear they see something like bitcoin that will completely change the way the economy works as something that is not favourable to them and they will not accept it regardless of the benefits politicians could get to themselves.
