The future looks brighter for bitcoin mining and other mineable altcoins out there ,like cryptonight and ethash ,IT companies are already rushing to start manufacturing 7nm chips and hardwares that would be based on those,this is good news cos with 7nm mining will be profitable again and AMD too among others is already producing 7nm based GPU with 48cores ,I thought mining was done for, another one again is a based Japan company called GMO internet group, they are already working on new ASICS with same 7nm chips that will deliver 10TH/S with power consumption of only 500watts which is twice as efficient as bitmains Antminer s9 that draws 1,372 watts with output of 14TH/S , its not the end but the beginning as we will see bitcoin breaking the TeraHash boundary and GPUs with 7nm? Miners will be happy about this. What are your thoughts about this ?

It will be beneficial overall if mining can move back away from large farms but I'm skeptical of how this will work, as much as there will be advancements in one area there will be advancements in another which make them near obsolete.

Of course this will benefit many parties, not just miners. Bitcoin will be increasingly known and become an idol along with technological development and also the development of the system. So, I believe that cryptocurrency will be very popular and more popular. especially bitcoin!

Yes it look good but not all area are good for mine in my place its really hard becuse the per kilo watts here are so high. So mining here its not applicable to those who want mining.

Not sure if its good news or bad , but if there will be Cheap and really good miners out there in market then you will see BTC price DROP because of the profit you will get from mining . If mining costs will be lets say 1k for BTC then you will be able to see 1.2-2k USD price range for BTC . the future of a cryptocurrency depends on its utilities. otherwise mining is only a temporary thing to make money. for instance in case of altcoins the miners create a mining rig and then they look for the most profitable altcoin to mine. then as soon as they find a more profitable shitcoin they switch right away because they know there is no future to the last one and it was only profitable during its pump. which is also why bitcoin hashrate is the only thing that continues to rise consistently.

Interesting topic my friend ,bitcoin deserves all the loves as the number one cryptocurrency, ts future will be awesome and as for other altcoins gpu profits will be back ,mostly what makes people to change there minds about mining is the cost of electricity but if mining hardwares uses so low electricity it will be reasonable to invest in rigs.

The problem is most of the manufacturing of these ASIC chips are done in China. The people in other countries will have to come up with something to compete with China, because we cannot afford to have the mining scene being dominated and possibly being monopolized by one country.

Any monopoly will drive up prices for these chips, because they have nobody that can compete with them. You also cannot have only one source for mining hardware, globally.  :P

That's just a part of problem. Increased efficiency is good for miners. This will make the market more attractive. But we need more investors and bitcoin have to be be more popular. As more countries legalize bitcoin, it will be good for the future of bitcoin.

The 7nm chips might be sustainable to mine bitcoins and other cryptos now but what about the time in future when mining difficulty has been raised again.
It would again be inconvenient to mine bitcoins unless these tech companies continue to provide such support to mine bitcoins and other cryptocurrencies with increased efficiency and less power consumption. Only then the future will be bright for bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.

Hopefully there is such thing happen and therefore crypto will sustain its popularity and could still manage to prolong its life.

This speculation is good but I do not think that just because of these developments in hardware the entire mining community will be saved because initially these developments will take at least 1 yr before they start selling and even so probably at first the  prices would not be affordable. If anything, these improvements will only come along 5+years from now during which a lot can happen.

I believe that the year 2017 was the year when Bitcoin and blockchain technology went mainstream. At this point, we can safely say that Bitcoin is too big to fail from this level. However, we still have a long way to go in order to achieve the vision of Satoshi. We should focus on building utility value as well as ground level environment to improve the user base of it in the coming future. I am still expecting much more from the year 2018.

however, the problem is the use of electricity itself. mining in my opinion is including activities that are very wasteful of electricity. that's good if they use recycling power. but if not. it can hurt yourself

I think the future is bright for most cryptocurrencies that are worrying about developing real technology behind. I like mining algorithms because it's impact of incentives in the creation of Bitcoin but right now there is better choices regarding decentralized ideas. For example I like Stellar because it's Stellar Consensus Protocol so, even though it's not mineable it can be a great choice if you are looking for a decentralized cryptocurrency ;D

Before i read some threads that mining is not advisable to be engaged to due to its current price in the market. We all know that its really energy consuming and very expensive to set up. But with this kind of news, the crypto mining industry will be once be back to its glorious days. i don't think the miners will be happy with that

but that's good because maintenance and electricity costs are getting cheaper
