Title: Wallet Recovery
Post by: Dlores on October 15, 2018, 07:01:04 PM
Good day. Who faced with such problem?
I have my SEED key from blockchain.info that dates back to 2016. SEED has 22 words.
But i cannot recover it because blockchain.info accept only 12 words to recover.
These words are not from 39BIP.
Which wallet can i use to recover it?
p.s i tried electrum - did not work. >:( Because i do not know passoword
Thanks for your attention

Try this:

1. Start Electrum, choose to restore a standard wallet, then restore from seed, enter your seed, then click options and check the 'BIP39 seed' box. -> Click Next.
2. Blockchain.info follows the BIP 44 standard for derivation paths, so the default account has a derivation path m/44'/0'/0'/0

Which password? Just select BIP39 seed and put the derivation path.

After this step it shows password window

Just leave it blank. Is it generating a different wallet even after you do that?

Are you sure recovery is not working on blockchain.com? On this link https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password it say that 12 words seed is for HD wallet so you maybe use link for HD recovery, try link I posted and enter your 22 word seed.

Weird, i thought blockchain.info had 17 word seeds earlier before changing to 12 word seeds.

Did you create multiple 'accounts' (within blockchain.info) using this seed ?
If so, you need to change the derivation path according to the account number (0 = 1st, 1 = 2nd) to:
Code:
m/44'/0'/i'/0

The easiest way probably would be to use blockchain.com directly to recover it (e.g. through Lucius' link).

what you have is blockchain.com[1] "recovery phrase" not BIP39 Mnemonic phrase
it can be used to recover forgotten password of blockchain.com legacy wallet,
but it's not the same as the new (blockchain.com) 12 word backup phrase which is also BIP39 compatible

Which wallet can i use to recover it?
none. it only works on blockchain.com site
try the link quoted below, maybe it still works

... you should try using the B.info legacy wallet recovery system: https://blockchain.info/wallet/recover-wallet ;)

If you have a legacy wallet recovery mnemonic saved enter it below to view the password and login link.

[1] blockchain.com is formerly known as blockchain.info

Did you actually try it out ? Or are you assuming it can't work ?

There shouldn't be any limit on changing your password. Even after changing it 10 times, it still should work.
Why do you think it can not work ?

Unfortunately blockchain.com is the only one able to help you.

I tried it, it shows the very first password that i changed long time ago
