Lurkin' since June.

Middle of June. Stumbled upon Bitcoin while Googling about copper pennies and getting 200% return on them. Decided to forego that nonsense and invest in Bitcoin. If I wanted to, I could search my history and tell you the first article I've ever read about Bitcoin. When I found this forum, I read no less than 20 hours worth of threads/posts before becoming a member. Back when I was 16, I caught my first chicken and...oops! Wrong forum.

Hard to believe it was 1.7 years ago for me.

Might have been a year rather than 9 months, but I cannot remember so I went 'conservative'.  I always start by building such things from source which is usually a bit of an undertaking for things which are only tested on Linux, and was pre-occupied with other things so I did not pursue Bitcoin at the time and it fell off my radar.  I would feel pretty bad about it, but I suspect I would not have sold a substantial portion at the peak and would be about where I am now anyway even if I would have gotten heavily into it near the start of 2011.  But one never knows.  One way or another I am confident that I would NOT have lost anything to MyBitcoin no matter what the circumstances.

I had heard of bitcoin around April and bought my first coins in May.

decided to mine coins.

Heard about BTC 6 months ago on a radio station.

It was almost a year ago...A Sunday morning, which I remember so well...Ed was making breakfast, as he always does on that day as we were getting ready for Unity...He had that twinkle in his eyes, which always made me want to go back to...I'm getting all weeping eye now just thinking about it...Anyway, I was on The Google researching some fund new project to get involved in when I came across Bitcoin...I got so excited, I spilled my OJ, which Ed so kindly cleaned up (what a sweetheart), then proceeded to explain to Ed what I just learned three minutes prior...He quickly grasp the concept, as he's good at seeing the whole picture (kiss, kiss) and, within five minutes, two new Internet TV shows were spermed spawn...The rest is history...We hosted a successful Bitcoin Expo in NYC and Pattaya became my Waterloo...Viva el Bitcoin (that was Ed)...

April 2010, while researching information bottlenecks. I think I found it on Sourceforge/Freshmeat... not sure if there was a git repository yet? Actually spent too much time researching Ven?!?! Came back in late November and have been amazed ever since.

I joined becuase I just lost my job and my computer ran all day. I remember Google doing this screensaver thing where they would use your CPU resources to compute things. I also remember that the Fold @ Home doing something similar and I said to my self... there has gotta be a service out there that pays you for your CPU resources and man was I right! ;)


Edit: in case your wondering I googled something like "Get paid for spare cpu resources" and then I found a forum that was telling people about Bitcoin(a non-bitcoin related forum)

I went from ignorant to curious to skeptical to highly skeptical to intrigued to utterly obsessed and convinced within about 2 hours from seeing a FB post mentioning it.

First learned of bitcoin in June. I was mining less than an hour later. :D

I first got scammed by this japanese bitcoin prince back when it was $30.

Voted 8 (joined this forum in March), but I had "heard" of it earlier, just been to lazy to follow the link at the time. Meh, missed the chance of being an early adopter that way. ;)

The Slashdot dollar bitcoin parity article is what got me started.  I was CPU mining right away but found nothing until I got my first GPU 2 weeks later.
