Title: No more Equihash ASICs (Z9, Z9 Mini) from Bitmain?
Post by: yrk1957 on October 17, 2018, 10:56:32 AM
These two have been out-of-stock for a few days now at Bitmain's site.

And the Equihash returns have stayed steady for the past few days implying not many are being added to the network, despite fall in ZEC prices.

Is it possible that Bitmain does not have any more chips for these? Maybe Bitmain thought that ZEC and others might fork by end of the year and hence only planned production until Oct or so? Which now seems a mis-calculation.

The DR3 is also out-of-stock, but I doubt that will come-back given impending 44TH units in November from Whatsminer.

Maybe this! You can expect everything from Bitmain. But at the same time I also highly doubt this is the reason why they don't plan to produce it. Bitmain will have more chips if they need, that's not a problem for them. Maybe they hang on these coins because they already made great profit while mining silently and now are working on different things. Also we need new antminer for bitcoin too, current one isn't profitable. Maybe it's now their priority.

Well, either way its good for existing miners in Equihash. Though Inno is still selling...

...at a way overpriced price.
