Title: What is the difference between airdrop and giveaway?
Post by: Applechild on October 18, 2018, 12:18:35 PM
No one has monopoly of knowledge so I want to know the difference between airdrop and giveaway. My question arises from the recent challenge I faced in this forum that lead to my banning for a week. I have been searching for the answer but I am not satisfied with my results. I also want to know so I can better avoid making such mistakes and for the good of the newbies too. While I remain grateful for being free from such ban because it felt terrible.

technically there is no difference between the two. they are both an act of giving away some coins for free to participants as a form of promotion and distribution of the tokens that were created in the premine action.

but practically people use it differently for instance airdrops have turned into a labor! where you have to take certain steps and do some job to receive the free tokens! usually that job is advertising the coin. so effectively they are hiring you to do something and paying you but call it "airdrop".

Airdrop and giveaway is same that they are free tokens or coins.

Airdrop is conducted by all new ico projects because it will be to attract more people and bring more peoples to there project.Giveaway is also similar to that only

But before going to apply for airdrop or giveaway you need to check the project if it  is legal or scam.

And what problem will lead to ban is this airdrop and giveaway???

The two terms, airdrop and giveaway in crypto are very much similar. Although some may prefer to use it in different contexts.

Giveaway is mostly used for an already existing coin or token, in which the holder out of benevolence might just decide to give out to some interested people. Although, it has been discovered that most use it for their selfish and ulterior motives, perhaps to scam others.

Airdrop is not an exemption from scam, but it is also used by genuine projects for promotional  purposes.

For airdrops, you have to carry out tasks and the rewards are paid after the tasks and after the ico is done but with the giveaways you don't really have to do anything and most times it is just some kind of competition  and the coins are paid out right after they pick a winner. You have to be very careful with both as there are so many scams

Giveaways should be given without any task to perform while airdrops i think you have to do some tasks like joining telegram, follow twitter account, etc.

The bad thing about those airdrops these days is that they want proof that is why they want to post here in Ann thread leading to some banned for life

or ban for some time. Those posts required are considered spam posts which are prohibited. Just my thought.

Airdrop means there will be some type of task to do and you will get coins/tokens for that. In Airdrop all people who complete task willg et tokens.

Giveaway can be contest where they will choose only few winners out of all entries.

They are both the same. Airdrops are technically a giveaway altcoin after fulfilling those requirements like joining their community groups and liking their social media page. Giveaways are free right? That also applies to airdrops where you can get those altcoins for free.

Both have the same meaning but as i read above post it is clear that Airdrop needs to do some tasks, after fullfilling the tasks you get coins after the ICO is finished and it is sure that you will get coins. But in giveaways the coins are before hand listed and they are given like lottery system so their is no assurance that you will be rewarded, only if you are chosen you will get the giveaway coins.

Yes I agree with you, the Airdrop is different from Giveaway in my opinion too. Airdrops are more like Bounty campaigns like social media categories that are required to fill our social media accounts to get tokens.
And Giveaway is like a quiz with prizes that are held not as often as Airdrop and usually Giveaway gifts are big

Giveaway is free
Airdrop is free
So there's no difference between the two, they are both free.
In giveways it depends on what task they are going to let you do for the reward.
The same goes for airdrops.

both terms are almost the same in terms of understanding. It's just that the term "airdrop" is used more often. Overall the purpose of the airdrop and bounty is to give gifts or tokens for free to participants who follow the rules made by the parties concerned. But you also have to be careful to objectively choose which airdrop or giveaway you will follow.

Just semantics...In actual fact, there's no difference between the two. Airdrop and giveaway are used interchangeably by different projects and they both imply the act of giving out free tokens to people who subscribe to it after filling out certain forms or fulfilling certain conditions as required.

Both airdrop and giveaway has only one intention it is to advertise ones company or ones self to a larger audience and based on what I see the only difference is in the industry that they are used for.

For instance a giveaway is used to grow ones popularity of to make more subscriptions in their social media accounts, the people who notably uses such strategy is youtubers and streamers to gain a larger audience as gaining a bigger following of people will make the standing on the platform and profit much higher. Also giveaways is only given to the winners of their raffle.

On the other hand airdrops are much more notable in ICOs in cryptocurrency and its main purpose is to advertise the project be giving away some of their tokens by just registering into it, however through out the months the rules of the ICOs change and it can go to affiliate links to raffles which is kind of hard rather than what we have last year.

Airdrops is more structured and the reward per participant is fixed. In most cases, you need to do something to receive the Airdrop, like post sharing, tweeting, clapping, upvoting and so on. Giveaways are more simple and do not require any action from you.

They have little difference for me because in airdrop sometimes they have more requirements to pass before you get the token or coin but in giveaway need only some requirements and you may know get the reward easily as long as you are meet the requirements.

In cryptocurrency Airdrop and giveaway are almost thesame thing but the different thing there is this in Airdrop it's just for everyone while in giveaway is just for some people who do some particular that the project's ask for.

Hahahaha I think they're mostly the same thing my bro. Except for the fact that sometimes giveaways are just interchanged with airdrops. Giveaways also require you perform certain minor tasks like attending AMA or watching a video to the end.

It seems that these two are the same. There is no difference. They are all given free of charge, but sometimes the airdrop is strict. Many airdrops now require some operations. To meet some of the requirements of the project team. ;D

There is actually no difference between airdrop and giveaway. Both are the same thing of giving away free coins by new ICOs to attract investors.

There are little to no difference between the two. Both are used for promotional purposes and to attract more investors by free distribution of coins. Different ICOs tries to use use them in different context.

There actually is no difference between them. They are both the acts of giving away some coins. But before participating you should find out if they are legal or not.

I can't see the difference between the two they are both similar in actions. Airdrops has made its actions through labor which you it a make step to follow on participating because they most likely advertising and promotions while giveaways is just an action giving it rightaway with no regrets.
