Title: My altcoin idea *Mobilecoin* ASIC Proof cellphone based cryptocoin Hiring DEVS!
Post by: Maidak on March 07, 2014, 03:00:16 PM
So this was only an idea i've played around with making altcoins but this would be past my personal skill level.

The idea essentially dawned on me when I was looking up some bitcoin apps for my cellphone.

I started thinking they've had apps to mine litecoins and dogecoins with your cellphone using the scrypt algorithm so why not make a coin that is based on cell phone technology for mining?

Practically everyone has a smartphone now a days having a built in mobile app wallet gives you access to your funds at all times of the day.

It made sense when I was thinking about it so why not have an app wallet and a app mining program for this coin make it to where its not able to be mined with GPU or ASIC in some way or another not really sure if its possible but the idea is different then all the new altcoins coming out.

At the end of the day when you plug your phone in turn on the mining software start hashing an start hashing away at new coins.

This is just a rough draft on the idea if you like what you read and think its a great idea send me a PM maybe we can make this into more of an idea. I've always liked the thought of turning on my phone and using it for mining. So why not have a coin that's specifically based for smartphones?

It would be difficult to stop people running Android emulators on PCs.

its a cool idea yes but the problems will be the heat, most graphic chips on the sellphones are not cooled properly. So this would be high risk to destroy your sellphone

True but it could be covered under warrenty if it was approved on app marketplaces possibly. Nothing is impossible though it could be something as simple as a flappy bird type game that lets you 'mine' the coins on a point system then or something it would need some ingenious thinking on how to make it work but to me its something different and i'm tired of seeing all the coin clones we need something new and different.

So my question to any really experienced coder could this be possible? I'll pay well if you can make this idea a reality.

Great idea, however overheating and too high level of energy consumption might cause some problems.

I use to mine ltc on my phone could always have some type of throttling set and shit just get a foursquare warranty or take advantage of manufacture warranty. :)

If your a dev and think this is an amazing idea for a completely different type of crypto send me a PM i'll gladly pay for your time in helping with something like this.

Honestly really think on this it has an amazing potential if can be implemented in some way. It would be one of a kind for android and windows phone (not really sure about iphone)

Lets face it bitcoin mining is practically centralized anymore and litecoin/scrypt miners are not to far along either and companies are not selling you hardware that will really ever ROI and return a decent profit.

I can see this being a crypto that could really take off this idea is something one of a kind it doesn't have to be mined via cellphone. Take advantage of micro payment system for various app games. Really take advantage of QR code I dont even need to take credit for it I'd just like to see something like this made a reality.

I have an old Droid running Linux on a loop file. I can run BFG miner from either a TightVNC desktop or from command line Linux. It was used as a wireless proxy server for two BE cubes. I also was trying to compile the BE driver on the Linux loop without success, With a OTG cable you could run a USB erupter had the driver compiled, but no luck. Also I have used many android devices to mine low diff coins. I actually solved a DMD diamond coin block with a Samsung 10.1 tablet w/quad cpu using a litecoin miner for android. With all that said, Android devices could in fact do mini or micro mining with ease. Pool based mining would not involve keeping a blockchain local to the device but causes it to become centralised. But to store and sync a full wallet on a droid with a droid app seems doable in theory especially with a cpu type coin and a hash cap speed to help keep it android based.

Exactly I mined low diff coins myself and i've always thought why not have a coin dedicated to just cellphones? Its a tech almost everyone has the companies that sell them are well established your not buying pre order vaporware from start up companies or purchasing something that has only one purpose. In theory I know this is very well possible and I do believe that it could really take off unlike all the pre-mined and various litecoin clones.

We need something different in crypto-currency world and I think this could very well be it and something I'm willing to invest considerable amount of time and money into. I'm not looking to make this a get rich quick coin but offer a twist to this on-going tech. I'm almost positive that this will be happening with or without me involved only a matter of time.

this is a great idea but you know what might even be better? Not really 'mining' with hardware with the phone, but getting coins for actually doing stuff. Like taking photos of certain colors/patterns, playing certain games/apps etc. That way you could also get apps to sponsor you by implementing rewards and stuff.

But if you skip the mining and go IPO all you have is NXT droid. It could go many ways but if it was android app based With NFC and QR scanning transfer, Kids would adopt it quickly.
They would be trading cryptos in class... ;D

See I thought about this to and essentially forking it off of the bitcoin blockchain or something. This is only an idea and of course has plenty of room for suggestions I want to see something different in the altcoin world.

Your completely right that kind of thought is quite retarded but thats not the intentions of it personally I have about 5 or 6 phones laying around that could get plugged in and put to use rather then collect dust and loose value. Again this is an idea i'm looking for suggestions what other people think of the idea and possibly developers to make it happen.
