Title: Information about changed password/email
Post by: bernardos on October 21, 2018, 08:05:51 PM
I was searching for a trusted crypto seller who accepts paypal payments the other day and I noticed that there was a warning on several profiles when clicking on the trust button.

It says:
This user's password was reset recently.
This user's email address was changed recently.

Why is there a warning of changed password/email? Are those accounts hacked, or believed to be hacked, should we be cautious when dealing with those users?

Also for how long is that warning displayed after a pass/email change?

That's a negative feedback/red trust and it's to warn you not to trade(trade with caution) with that person at all, as he/she could be fraudulent/scammer

Those feedbacks are left by people who have traded with that person in the past and obviously it didn't go so well, a user who changes email/password frequently may be doing so to clear off some traces of previous scammy activities

Negative feedback/red trust cannot be removed except by the user/DT that put it
I didnt mean the trust ratings, I was asking about the messages that appear saying:
This user's password was reset recently.
This user's email address was changed recently.

That's just a notice indicating this account might be hacked, bought and similar ...
Everyone who change his pass or mail wears this notification for few days. (3 days password change, 30 days email change)
see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=827927.0

If you are trying to make some deal then better ask him to prove the original ownership. e.g. Search for some of his old unedited or quoted post where he published BTC address and ask him to sign a message using that address.
Here's specific topic for such purposes: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=996318.0  (You can stake your address as well. Practice message signing and helps you to recover your account if something goes wrong)

exactly as you said, as warnings, they warn others about that account's security
the account may be hacked or the owner simply wants to change it for personal reasons
when change email and password reset/change notice shown at the same time
usually it's a sign of hacked account or sold/bought account :-\
so you need to take precaution steps dealing with such account

And changing in hands can potential lead to scamming so be careful with those.

Trust only those sellers that has built its reputation so look for those that has positive trust rating.
