Interesting it was mentioned here years ago

Created by IMF?

http://www.imf.org/external/np/pp/eng/2010/041310.pdf

newly published IMF strategy document calls for the implementation of a global currency, called the “bancor”, to stabilise the international monetary system, while acknowledging that only a monumental shift toward acceptance of globalism will make it possible in the short term. The IMF blueprint, authored by Reza Moghadam, director of the IMF’s strategy, policy and review department, has stayed under the radar for three months. However, an article on the Financial Times blog alphaville, entitled IMF blueprint for a global currency – yes really, today highlights the document and the clear strategy of the global financial body. “…in the eyes of the IMF at least, the best way to ensure the stability of the international monetary system (post crisis) is actually by launching a global currency.” Izabella Kaminska notes. “And that, the IMF says, is largely because sovereigns — as they stand — cannot be trusted to redistribute surplus reserves, or battle their deficits, themselves.” A chart within the document, innocuously titled Reserve Accumulation and International Monetary Stability

I'm still reading..

Bancor goes way back, The website info matches the documents and theory.

If the International Monetary Fund gets its way, the U.S. dollar will be replaced by the “bancor” as the world’s reserve currency.  According to a report published April 13, the IMF would like to adopt a plan of action that would expand the use of SDRs (Special Drawing Rights) to replace the U.S. dollar as the storehouse of value, and eventually create a global currency called the “bancor.”

"Because Bancor Coin is open-source and because the developer(s) of Bancor Coin do not control the currency, the identity of the developer is irrelevant. The creators prefer the focus be on global adoption and multi-national ownership for the benefit of the world."

IMF might have come up with the idea, but looks like some private entities out of the Netherlands kicked this off using Digital Ocean online hosting services.

I would think if it was backed by the IMF that they have their own hardware and networking to use instead of leasing from Digital Ocean... Nice website with a respectable amount of effort to it, but doesn't look like any real "formal" IMF backing.

Good Luck!
