Title: At what price will a coin die?
Post by: Cryptopotato021 on October 22, 2018, 12:03:32 PM
What is the price at which a coin is considered dead or when an exchange decides to delist the coin?
Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?

There is no standard for that. The exchange will keep profiting regardless of the price because there will always be people trading that coin, so It's probably the userbase and trading volume more than the price itself.

And If we're speaking about bitcoin, that's never going to happen as bitcoin is what's holding the crypto market.

It's mostly because of the price. It's more on the reason on why the specific coin/token dropped in price. Developers abandoned it? Then chances are it might indeed die of no other developers take over and if there are no running nodes left.

Also, with bitcoin? It won't be dead even at $1. It was made to work and to be up running regardless of price. When bitcoin was new, it was almost worth nothing. But yet, it was "alive" and working.

It's mostly tied to the trading volume.
As far as there are active orders with people buying and selling, the coin can't be termed dead, but without trades and no coins in circulation.
It can be said that holders have abandoned the coin/token and investors are not interested.

At this point, top exchanges (if it has gotten to any) would likely delist it. And maybe CMC as well.
It can now be termed dead.

If Bitcoin ever loses a large chunk of its value, it will become that what it was back in 2011/2012, a popular currency rather than a tool for speculation purposes. I'm pretty certain that at current adoption rate, the price will still hover well over the $100 level during a by noobs considered end-of-Bitcoin scenario.

In the end, even a large number of the worst shitcoins will always have some sort of a value attached to them. It's fairly uncommon for a coin to have no open buy orders on exchanges. I think I have only seen it twice thus far.

No price indication, when most of the exchanges where it is listed delists it.

Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?
No. It's not like that.

What do you think when bitcoin hit $1,000 last January 2017? Don't consider that when a coin drops in price that means that it is going to be dead. Though volume goes on low it doesn't mean that coin will be dead soon. And this isn't going to happen to bitcoin but for altcoins, this is possible.

I really think when that particular coin become very stable that the price is not really moving for about a couple of years even if we are in a bullish market I guess that is the time we can say that this particular coin is really dead, Or if the developer and certain people have vanished with the amount value of that coin just like what happens with Bitconnect I really think this is considered a dead coin right now.

I do not think that price of a coin decides whether it is dead or active. It depends on the volume and the project to consider a coin to be dead.

There are different factors/rules involved when delisting a token/coin from an exchange. You need to contact the exchange to find out the reason.

Bitcoin has just started and has a long way to go. It will never fall to 1k level.

Unless  its a shitcoin, in crypto never say die. A coin that sells at one gwei this second could be 5000 gwei next second. Just keep an open mind so long as it isn't a shitcoin.

I think, at the moment, the minimum cost of Bitcoin is about 5K, because the profitability of the maining becomes equal to "0".

Perhaps in the future, equipment will be invented that will provide lower cost of Bitcoin.

It should also be borne in mind that the number of Bitcoin in circulation decreases as they are lost in wallets, with lost passwords.

The coins will not die with price if we compare coins with one another, Important thing is the demand and use of that coin like now very good projects will started and they have a good investment they have worked for online robots they have worked for online exchanges and they have worked for the new crypto world they have made things very easy and smooth for the future so i think that we will be happy in the crypto world but if the price of one coin fall it is not surety that it will end every thing but it will be used in the future.

Not about the price but the volume.
If a coin has no volume in more than a week i think that coin is dead and no investors wants to buy it.

A coin cannot be consider death until all the exchangers have delisted it. Bitcoin that you are using as an example is not a coin for you to use for such illustration. Before anyone invest in bitcoin just know that the price will fluctuate. Even though the price of bitcoin gets to $100 it can never be considered death.

There is not a particular price a coin need to be before it can be delisted from an exchange or coinmarketcap but what I know is if the trading falls below a minimum volume the exchange set then a coin be delisted but it don't mean is dead.

Coin will die when the coin is not needed. When coins are still needed and there are still people who use them, the coin will exist.
This is what is called the demand factor, when there is still demand, the coin will never die.
For me every coin that has a good chance, what will differentiate is how the developer develops the coin or not.

I think to say it will die is not true. It's tricky, but we're looking at a totally new form of currency. There are going to be ups and downs, and I think people who see it as a get rich quick scheme will be disappointed, but I mean, look at this: https://bullionexchanges.com/learn/buy-gold-with-bitcoin You can buy real, physical gold with bitcoin. It's the leading form of cryptocurrency. It isn't going to just die.

Price is not just an indicator we can use. There are more. For example, trading volume could also be used. Because we can not use an exact price to determine. Even if a coin is delisted, it doesn't mean that is dead.

Title: Re: At what price will a coin die?

coins are considered dead when not many people are interested to become a place for investment, trading, and transaction, such as uahpay.

there is no special nominal value to consider it dead, even if bitcoin falls below 1k, but when bitcoin is still traded at a very low value, bitcoin is still alive.

Maybe they need to relearn the trade, it doesn't make sense if they say that the coin will die, how is that possible? while many coin users make transactions such as buying or selling.
Coins will continue to live because there are still people who buy or sell them.

Isn't this obvious? A coin will be considered dead and (should be) delisted when no one is trading that coin anymore? Because no matter the price, if people are still trading a particular cryptocurrency, it will still have value.

Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?
No, at those levels there will still be a lot of demand since the price reached so cheap levels. Remember that no matter what the price is, Bitcoin has reached high levels of trust among cryptocurrency users, if the price reaches 1k, the overall sentiment will be extremely bad, but only for a short time as there'll be a lot of positivity around Bitcoin, especially from investors who will pour tons of capital to buy btc at low prices.

Even at $100, btc won't die, as long as it keeps working as intended and demand still surrounding the market, you can bet that Bitcoin will be around for a very long time.

But to answer your main question, a coin will have to reach very low levels of trading volume in order for exchanges to finally delist it. If there's no demand for a coin then, eventually, it will die.

This is a tricky  question but I think a coin will be considered dead when it becomes priceless. Priceless not in the sense that it is too expensive for people to afford but when it becomes useless and no one places a buy order for it.

The market cap of Bitcoin would still be very high, even with a price of 1000$. Would not be dead at all IMO. I would consider a coin dead, when it's value is 0, so there is nobody, who would pay for it.

There is not any fixed amount at which a currency die. For example during The Great Depression of 1929, The German currency fell down steeply but that did not meant that the currency died. A currency dies when there is no use of it anymore.

As long as there are people using, investing and trading with a certain coin/token, that coin/token will continue to exist. Price is another indicator that a coin is still alive and will still exist in exchanges.  No matter how low the price become, as long as it doesn't reach zero value, the token is to  invest into.

If ever bitcoin dumps to less than 1k, we still can't consider it dead. Remember that before bitcoin reaches $20k dollar last year which is the highest peak it reaches after almost a decade, it started from $100 but still it gives us that price last year.

No coin can be considered dead till it is de listed from the exchange. Just remember that no one has lost any money despite the price till when you sell off at a loss. All you need is patience which all cryptocurrency traders are known for. So allow the coin to recover and move back through the market operations to the top. Market sentiments is responsible for the price movement and no one is manipulating the market so just wait till your coin turn around.

I think it's not the price its the user and the miners itself that determine if a coin is dead or not. You see if a miner doesn't mine or connect to the network the user will feel it and will leave the coin looking for a better coin.

It's all about how users feel about it, usage wise.

I personally believed that a coin will die based not on its price but on it's volume, how people continuously buy and sell the coin. So all in all the coin is still in used on a daily basis or if not it has a promising future ahead and that what makes it alive. Holders believe that at some point it will soar, despite the bearish market they keep on increasing their holdings making the coin alive everyday.

The bitcoin has gone past the fears of going below 1k$, reasons being that it has attained a level of credibility and relevance with the world financial bodies such as the SEC. As for other tokens, I believe of the trading volumes have really reduced overtime and it is now being over dumped, it can be prone to be delisted.

BTC can't be delisted or considered dead if it goes down to 1k USD simply because 3 years ago it was trading below 1k and it wasn't delisted. Technically if BTC went below 1k right now it would signal that there's something really wrong with the coin and that it's failing to follow the curve of adoption, but as long as people want to trade it exchanges won't delist it. What gets delisted then? Usually coins with no volume, coins that are proven scams, coins officially abandoned by their teams, coins with major flaws that nobody wants to patch.

I think it is all about volume trading in market, as long they still have volume or wallet not in a problem, exchanger wouldn't delist it and people still can trade in there. Even bitcoin dumped very much, i think it wouldn't make it delisted.

But when i think about the billions $ of marketcap and giants investments from all over the world, i would never  think that it happens.

As long as there's investors willing to buy then the coins won't simply die, those coins that's being de-listed by exchanges have been dead for like months, no activity, no volumes whatsoever that's why its only appropriate for them to be de-listed, but this is not the case for bitcoin. And even it goes to $1K, I'm sure that everyone will still try to purchase it because its very cheap at that price.

I completely agree with this. A coin with price of $100 each can also be delisted in cases like:

1) Developers were found to be promoting some fraud or pyramid scheme in name of coin. No exchange would like to be associated with such a coin.

2) The infrastructure used in the coin gets hacked. It can finish the coin in very short time.

Hello,

To define a coin as dead you don’t need to look at the price but the activity around it. The price could be low but if there is still some people to trade it, it will not dead and the exchange will take a benefit. But if there is no more development or activity around a coin then it could be considered as dead and then with time trade will stay at 0 and then you could consider it dead.

The one that makes the exchanges delist is not the price but the transaction volume, if the transaction volume is low for a certain period of time then the exchange will delist it, and there is no standard price for a coin to survive, but usually when it reach 1 satoshi and the buy order is low then the coin is no longer got value

First of all what you told about Bitcoin which wont happen, it wont touch $1k in near time.

About exchange deciding to delist the coin is on the basis of volume of trading on the coin.

Until the coin is traded with good volume it will survive in this price dont matter.

Another chances are that if the coin nodes or link gets dead then the wallet of the particular coin will be in maintenance until it get clear and if the developer not responding for a long time then also the coin can be dead.

I think it would depend on what coin it is because volume plays an important role when it comes to knowing as to how much the coin would be considered dead. I don't think bitcoin having a price of $1k would be considered dead. Maybe time will come when it becomes its stable price so merchants would consider adopting it.

Many people may have lost the value of their investments when the price came to that amount but if the volume is still there then it wouldn't be dead. If it has low to no volume at all which would mean people aren't interested in it anymore then you can consider a coin dead.

For a coin to be considered dead, the market volume of that particular coin at a point in time should be reduced. The reduction in the market volume will continue to a point where there is no buying and selling of the coin on the exchange platform. But there is not particular pattern to describe how a crypto coin dies.

When Coins still have a certain level of value, it means that it still exists. The coin is dead when it is no longer valid, and no longer any exchange is made. Any altcoin is trading, and it is even considered Altcoin value. Assess Altcoin dead or alive based on whether or not anyone owns it.

When the coin is worthless and no one needs it, that's a dead coin, where the coin has no developer and no market.
For bitcoin, I think it will continue to grow and have a safe and high value, many people will search and mine bitcoin.

The last price in the life of a coin would be zero... that mean 0.00000000... Because if it has a price of one satoshi at least, then it can be managed on markets and people will buy and sell them, but if the price is zero that mean the coin is free and no one would be interested in a freecoin. So, at that point the coin is dead.

I don't think this will happen with bitcoin because if bitcoin reaches less than $1k, then almost all coins will dead too because the altcoin is following bitcoin. I cannot imagine if bitcoin price is less than $1k now and I think this will attract big chaos in the cryptocurrency and everything will change. But if you want to know about when the coin is dead, you can check for the volume of the coin on each exchange because some exchange makes a limit on how big the volume of the coins needs to reach in a month, so they don't get delist in that exchange.

price does not affect the delisting process of the exchange, but a small volume is the main factor for delisting coins from an exchange
when the price is cheap, but the volume is still large, the exchanger will still benefit,
and when the price is zero USD, a coin can be sure to die and the volume will drop dramatically so that the coin is delisted

What is the price at which a coin is considered dead or when an exchange decides to delist the coin?
Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?
Every reduction of coin/token price will certainly have a cause, that because market conditions of the amount of negative information come so as every trader and investor decide to sells the coin/token and also it can be caused by the coin/token having no function cause of several things so as every investor those who have coins/tokens will sell their assets and make them worthless.

Of these two reasons, the first reason will not affect the decision of an exchange for the coin/token to delist in their exchange, cause that things are common to happen in the cryptocurrency market. Expect with the second reason, the coin/token has no interest by some investor or trader so it will be useless for an exchange to continue to be listed in their platform, it will not provide benefits for an exchange.

I agree, there is just no standard for this because as long as a currency is being used it is technically "alive" no matter its value.

The small volume that can make the coin die, the small volume of the developer running away from the price there is no interest nor does it exist then the coin ends.
But for bitcoin, I don't think it will die, because many people need it and mine it. However many people still want it. Bitcoin has grown from 0 it has grown and now it only needs to maintain it.

I have an opinion that tends to be the second reason for you, where the coin will die when the coin/crypto is no longer listed on any trading platform, with no crypto registered in the exchange service, the crypto price will not move at all because there is no transaction process buying and selling from traders and buyers.

Trend points to 2200 usd pr bitcoin within near future.

You can call that "dead". After that only the stupidest will touch it. The clever ones picked up a lesson and will focus on better technology.

For shitcoins you see daily dumps of new coins that will never gain any support. Visit cryptopia for a taste of "sold out shit" You can call that "dead" coins too. Meaning delisting after dump.

Cryptopia tends to make "legit" reasons for delisting. Honest people..

No volume after dump can also be considered a dead coin. Dead chain. No mining.. You name it.

Exchanges list coins because they want to make a profit. If they see that there are no more trades being done over a prolonged period, then they might consider to delist the coin, because they will rather list a coin with active trading volume.

Exchanges are profit driven, but some of them are paid to list some Alt coins. <Alt coins buy a spot to be listed on some exchanges> So if they are contractually bound to a listing period, then they will have to do that for that period.  ::)

What I understand about dead coins is that coins cannot compete in the market, the value is getting lower and more lost in the market that cannot be used anymore. cryptocurrencies have coins that are able to compete and cannot compete, we should still believe in popular coins and the highest prices.

Yes, right. I agree with you that small volumes do not make bitcoin die. The value of bitcoin is due to exchange, so even though the exchange doesn't exist someday I still believe many people will use bitcoin as a digital asset. Bitcoin is unique until now there are no competitors appearing to replace it. The value of bitcoin is trading speculation but behind it all, a lot of development and mining teams work. Maybe if mining stops, bitcoin can still work with a different confirmation method than at this time.

I think for a coin to die there's only 2 scenario. first, when there's no trading happening like only one user is holding all the coin and non one is buying it. second, is when the price of it falls to 0.00 and can't be convertible to any coin. But for bitcoin to die that will never happen cause bitcoin will rise.

I do not think the value of coin will be at 0.00 even the coin was already considered as dead coin, we cannot used the value of coin as basis to be consider as dead coin i think we used the volume of demand in the market, we can see and know if the coins are dead if there are no demand and we need to avoid buying that.

There is a specific price which will be a sign of a death of a coin because there coins have very wide range of supplies which can be a factor for a low or high ICO price of a coin. You can say that a coin may die when the current value is now 100x less than the first recorded value, it doesn't really mean that the coin is absolutely dead. A coin for me can be considered dead when development have stopped and there is no community to support it and it's development.

Most coins are not used in practice. To determine that it is coin dead verify that it also traded and that the transaction volume is in fact. No longer any actual transaction means that it is coin dead. There are a lot of Altcoins now removed from coinmarketcap because of the lack of liquidity.

It is clear that the coin will not die right as you think because with the growth that will improve many people will return to invest in new coins and will bring back investment.
I believe that at the end of this year there will be increased development

that is uncertain. the average exchanger making delist coins is when the developer leaves their coin. or the developer has been inactive and coin has no project growth. so that it is said to be coin dead. but if for the price I think it can't be a reference for coins to die.

Firstly, I do not think that the price of Bitcoin will fall to such a low level, and secondly, even if this happens, it does not mean that the coin has died. Remember that the cryptocurrency market is very volatile. At any moment the price may fall to the bottom or fly to the moon.

This is no-brainer. A coin will die when no one is buying or selling it anymore. Even at $0.1, if people still buy a particular coin, whether it's bitcoin or altcoin, it will not die. Unless the demand for it stops, any cryptocurrency will survive.

Title: Re: At what price will a coin die?

There is no standard for that. The exchange will keep profiting regardless of the price because there will always be people trading that coin, so It's probably the userbase and trading volume more than the price itself.

And If we're speaking about bitcoin, that's never going to happen as bitcoin is what's holding the crypto market.

I agree with that it's the volume more than price but even bitcoin can die one day I think. It's the first one but there could be a better option in the future.

A coin is not even dead if the price reaches 0. Many things have no price to them but still people choose to collect them or transfer them for one reason or another. A lot of cryptocurrencies started out as airdrops which would mean the coin had 0 value at that time, it does not mean it should be considered dead and that's seen by many which have gone on to achieve great things both in use, application and price.

The world of cryptocurrency is filled with wonders and uncertainties so I am tempted to say that  no coin is dead till it is de-listed from the exchanges. It really does not matter the price a coin was and what it is now provided that it is still in an exchange you do not write such coin off. The speculative nature of cryptocurrency makes price reversal possible within the shorted period of time because of sentiments of  the market. So kindly be patient and wait for the coin to come around.

We could not get a specific price to say altcoin was dead. As the transaction continues, it persists and develops well even in the event of a drop in prices. Virtual money just dies when it no longer attracts investors and the need to buy and sell it is no longer because it has no growth potential in the future.

I think that the survivability of a coin does not depend on its price, but on the demand for it and therefore on the trading volume with it. If the trading volume falls, the coin can be excluded from exchange trading. However, this does not mean the death of this coin. The team of this coin even after that will be able to make certain improvements, changes in the project, the coin may again be in demand and grow in value by reappearing on the exchange. A coin or token should be considered deceased, when trading volumes for it have fallen, it is excluded from the exchanges and is no longer supported by the team.

I think there is no definite value standard for saying coins are dead, cryptocurrency are decentralized so their value will change over time. The coin will be said to die if there is no demand at all, the market goes down does not mean that the coin will die, this is just an unstable market condition, the demand will continue to exist and will make the value soar again.

Only the fall in price does not mean that the coin is dying. The price can fluctuate very much, but this is not a sign of the end. Therefore, I will look at the General state of the market, news about the cryptocurrency on an international scale. As the life of a coin depends on its trading volume and effort of the developers, and not on its direct price, it can be said that the coin does not die with the loss of its price. However, if developers stop backing up a coin and all its related nodes are stopped, then it is death for that particular coin. As for the Bitcoin, it will never reach such state.

I think it is not based on price but based on the volume of trading transactions, there are several exchanges that give conditions for the minimum volume of coin transactions must be a few dollars or btc, and the policy is usually applied on big exchanges or market.

There is no price basis for a coin to be considered dead. when the coin is no longer a user or interested person, and dev does nothing for their coins, it is considered dead. the exchange delisted because of that. coin does not have a future, prices are manipulated by pumps and dumps. and there is no update from the developer.
I agree. There is no basis what price the coin has to be considered die because sometimes it just fall but the development not yet done and giving the investors more opportunity and support it. The coin that considered dead is a coin that has no update about it and abandoned by developers and no more investor interested on it. Coin keeps on falling and do not get up again and forget in the market like it did not exist.

I think bitcoin will be dead if only it's price will be 0 $. 1,000 $ for 1 BTC is not so small price. The exchanges delist coins, because of low usage of that coins, but not low price.

People love predicting what the future has in store for them. They predict sports scores, the way their interactions with other people will go, the weather etc. One thing we have recently started predicting the future of are cryptocurrencies.

As of the moment, Bitcoin is down 70% with alts being down on average more than 80%. Most people are wondering if and when will this negative trend be broken. For now, it’s hard to say when, but we are almost certain that it will happen; There is a lot of room to go either up or down.

Even an abandon project by developer can still have value as long trading are strong and exchange won't delist them. So coins will die if no exchange since you can't trade it. Most coin who are scam are still have value when its still listed. Like bitconnect that just become dead last month after delisting to its all exchange.

In my opinion only the price doesn't determine when the coin will die rather when there is no support from the developers and the community becomes silent and loose interest about it, that is the point when the coin is considered to be dead.

Title: Re: At what price will a coin die?

If the coin has no developer and no community support whatsoever, that might be sign for it. A dead coin will also have no exchange support and no matter how much of them you hold If you can't use it, it is flat dead. However it is highly unlikely bitcoin will face the same fate even if goes down $1k. Bitcoin has reached millions of people one way or another. Day by by, the market is expanding and the coin itself is being established as a proper currency.

You are wrong to say if bitcoin go below 1k it will be considered dead because even at 1 cent a coin can not be considered as dead and the only time I think a coin will be considered dead is when it is delisted from the exchange because the exchange is the only platform that make it possible for any coin to be traded so any thing outside the exchange lead to the dead of such coin.

You can't consider it dead simply because there are still user and many are still supporting. I will consider it dead if no one is supporting or using it already even if the coin still has a price. So you can't call a coin dead by it's price or because it is falling deep.

Exchanges delisting would depend on public demand for the Bitcoin. Though People will never stop trading for Bitcoin even if it comes at 1K USD! So, If people keep trading then exchanges will not delist. But suppose, BOLL is a coin and it's price hit the highest value ever in USD but no one interest to buy or trade it, then the exchange will delist that coin immediately! I hope you understand the fact.

I do not know the minimum price for the coin to be excluded from the exchange. I think it depends on the deal with her. If the coin is not traded for a long time, it will be considered dead. But as long as the transactions is made this coin will exist no matter what her price.

Title: Re: At what price will a coin die?

As long as the coin has some sort of value, it is not "dead". This means that even if the price of bitcoin ends up being $1,000, it is still not dead. We got that assumed value since there are some people who are still using it and trading with it. For the coins to be dead, there should not be even a single user who uses bitcoin. So i guess if the value turns out to be zero, the coin can be considered dead.

A price where no one is interested in it will eventually lead to zero volume on  exchange and I think it will be time that coin is said to be dead and not tradeable. At this stage the developers had dump all their share in it and those holding become bagholders.

Bitcoin is an open-platform and there is no one company to “rule them all.” Most likely a few dominant bitcoin exchanges will emerge but the system will work even without them. And chances are the biggest trades won’t happen in their platforms — rather, people and companies will opt for individual transactions. With any open platform, there are many stakeholders many of which have different interests at heart. Combined, they make sure the platform stays alive.therefore, bitcoin will never die

There are no particular term to consider a coin being dead as long as the community stop patronizing and showing no more support from investors, then it can be declared good as dead project. There are projects are considered already dead from the market because of lack of support from the crypto community and wherein to able for a project to live are always be the investors. On the other hand, bitcoin will surely be a live and kicking for how many years to come because it has great support from the community and investors as well.

I think a coin will die if there is no demand or sue for it anymore, or the community or people running the project totally abandon it. Everything, even with crypto in economics is run by supply and demand. We have to understand it is these basic factors that are everything to do with market price. Also there is the fact that some coins or projects that look dead might be resurrected by a new Team and Community, in which case all those that sold for very cheap feel very unhappy when that happens because they lose out on big gains.

For me a coin die when it's use and demand over and it is not concern with the price because price decide by demand and supply so when demand over the price automatically comes to zero and for now many coins are changing it's value with time but for a strong system the value of a thing should be stable and complete trust in the market.

I do not think what the price of a coin is actually dead or active. it probably depends on a project that is really low on their volume rate. Sometimes we can say that the project that we are dealing is as dead as it sometimes does not matter and sometimes we are scam and we do not know it after all the coins are really dead because it's a scam too. the price of a coin is like a human life rotating around, sometimes fun and sometimes sad, like the life of a coin sometimes it's alive and sometimes also die. and then depending on the exchange market they already have.

I don't think the price goes to determine how and when a coin dies... Once a coin is trading on exchanges, the user base and market daily, weekly or monthly volumes will be the deciding factors for the life span of a coin.. So long as their are people who still trades the coins, the coins still lives regardless of its prices.

Cryptocurrency market is called speculative market, what it means is that people just speculate market price which my be true or may be not. For this no coin can be consider as a dead untill such coin is delisted from the exchange. For  this speculation that same coin that you considered dead could just spring up in price and surpass its original or purchasing price and that will  bring  the much needed profit. Hold your coin after all nobody is  feeding the coin.

I think what makes a coin die is not how much the price, but it's how much the volume in 24 hours. Because with the volume determines how many the demands of a coin in the market, if there is no demand then the coin may be considered dead or can be delisted on an exchange.

There is no recipe for that, the prices changes from ICO times. The most important think is for one coin is the market cap. Ofcourse if the project works in right ways the price would go higher too. If the market cap goes down the price would go decrease. So keep away from low volume coins.

Lol $1k is not a little money, after all bitcoin won't die anytime soon, I'm sure of that. If you often check coin prices on the market, then you can see a coin that is only worth 0.00000001 or 1satoshi and the coin is not declared dead, because after all he still has value even though it is very, very low. So as long as the coin has its own value then you cannot assume the coin is dead, it's just that it doesn't have a big supporter so they are difficult to rise.

Obviously, the coin will be dead when it costs exactly zero. Any price greater than zero will give the right to be sold on the exchange and have all the same rights as the coins of the top values. Typically, the next 10% also remain dead in most cases. Let's hope that in the new season the coins will gain strength. And that in General the market situation is sad now. For example in binance, if the listed coin cannot deliver the development of their project, then binance will delist the coin.

There are no exact calculations that allow you to calculate a figure meaning the death of a coin. I think that the capacity of the coin depends primarily on how the project works and on the general interest in the coin (in the case of Bitcoin only on the interest of the masses).
The exchange at the decision on delisting of a coin can be guided also by other criteria.
Therefore, Bitcoin will be alive as much as interest in it.

The price of the coin is not important to say coin die or not  I think the important thing is coin is still useful or it is still  working for their project if it is working the price is no a problem  and I think price can be hight again but if their team doesn't work well we can say coin will die .

Bitcoin will not die, even if price will be only $1 or less.
We will always have some kind of demand for bitcoin, at least always we will have people ready to sell and somebody who will wants to buy it.
It's the nature of any market.
Of course, in the worst case scenario, we will not have millions users here like now.

There is no standard for that. The exchange will keep profiting regardless of the price because there will always be people trading that coin, so It's probably the userbase and trading volume more than the price itself.

And If we're speaking about bitcoin, that's never going to happen as bitcoin is what's holding the crypto market.

that's true, this can be an insight for OP
maybe for an altcoin that has absolutely no turnover of sellers and buyers, it will gradually be released from the exchange

It simply won't happen, the reason being that unlike centrally controlled and regulated securities, bitcoin has no central governing body, that is  strength. Even if it drops to $1 there will still be people trading and using it-in fact at a lower price it may be even more useful than at present.
Bitcoin is the future fiat is the past.

What is the price at which a coin is considered dead or when an exchange decides to delist the coin?
Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?
A currency will be declared dead when the currency transaction will stop and the currency will be zero. If a muder value is a Satoshi quantity, then that coin can not be called dead. If Bitcoin's price dropped from $ 20000 to just $ 1 but it is not dead. When a currency market becomes vanish and its value will be zero, it will be considered dead.

A Proof of Work coin (ie: bitcoin) will die , when the cost to maintain it's Network exceeds the market price.
Since coins like bitcoin have such high input cost ~$3000 to generate a bitcoin, it has a very short time frame it could survive with a lower price.
Most likely less than 2 months before the miners could no longer afford to maintain it at a loss.

In Contrast,
A Proof of Stake coin will only die, when the majority of stake holder lose faith and stop staking.
Due to the incredible energy & cost efficiency of PoS, a PoS only network can be maintained for an indefinite time period no matter how low the price goes.

Expensive PoW Networks requires millions per month just to maintain their network.

PoS Networks can be maintained for less than $2000 per month.

The Amazing thing is PoS networks can easily match or exceed the transaction capacity of PoW networks.  :)
PoS => Efficiency
PoW=> Waste

Bitcoin will not die (again), it is even more STRONG than before. Blockchain, one of the most popular Bitcoins, has had a rapid increase in new accounts, with nearly 24 million at the time of writing. In addition, one of the most popular Bitcoins in the world, Coinbase, has recently reached 20 million users in 35 countries.

I think the relevance of market price for a coin is not as deterministic for a coin death as much as the market users. I find this as similar as when a coin starts, initially is low in price but it rises with the more investors there are. So as long as there's optimism about the coin, it wouldn't go extinct- it's my opinion.

There is no specific price at which a coin may be delisted from an exchange. The reason some coins get delisted from an exchange may be as a result of zero trading over a long period of time. The exchange might also have its own criteria.

Even though the value of the coin falls is very low but there is still an exchange, it cannot be called dead, and if it falls low and does not exist in exchange it can be said that the coin is dead. Bitcoin is the most popular coin, and even though bitcoin falls, it won't make bitcoin die, calm down because bitcoin will increase again.

In my opinion. The coin is said to die when the coin has no value or price in the crypto market. and the coin has lost all investors or interested ones. at present all coins have decreased by more than 50 percent from the price at the beginning of the year. however, this condition does not indicate if the crypto currency will die. we still remember the initial price when bitcoin was first in the world. Bitcoin prices are much cheaper than current prices. thus there is still a chance for crypto to continue to grow.

I think a coin will be dead when there are no more miners. Transactions need miners to verify transactions as new blocks are found. Even as most miners quit, it'll be okay since difficulty adjusts to the total hash rate. There could be one day when nobody wants to mine any more if the price of a coin is so low that even with free electricity, the cost of a mining rig is much more than the value of a coin.

What is the price at which a coin is considered dead or when an exchange decides to delist the coin?
Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?

Tokens do trade for just a few sats up to many many thousands, there is no set standard for an exchange to delist, they still make money on the fees unless of course all the market activity ends, say on an announcement that further work on the protocols and standards are not to be continued, for instance. This development work is key to a digital tokens ongoing life and this is also the reason for the most popular of these being at such a good price per token.

Most of the times when an exchange announces a delisting, this is usually to do with the ending of a tokens development, sometimes even; the blockchain has problems, the exchange reaches out to the developers and with no response, there is no choice but to delist.

There are many other reasons too...

It's mostly because of the price.

It's more on the reason on why the specific coin/token dropped in price.

Developers abandoned it?

Then chances are it might indeed die of no other developers take over and if there are no running nodes left.

I think the Coin is said to die if it has no value, if the bitcoin from January 20k to 1k is a fluctuating price value that occurs, but it is different if the price of bitcoin has reached the point where 1 bitcoin has no price of nearly 0.

Bitcoin is Bitcoin. Considering that it is valuable in its own, there is no need to calculate the price with the USD, so it doesn't die. There were times when Bitcoin's price was under 1USD. Also, it has to be ruined for his death, which is impossible.

I think this's the wrong way of thinking, with bitcoin prices of less than $ 1k, this precisely will trigger the emergence of millions of new users who will adopt bitcoin, and this's very good for the development of bitcoin in the next stage, then bitcoin can continue to live and the future of the market will be bright again. Because if more people use it, then the age of bitcoin can last longer.

The price of a coin at a particular moment in time is not the key factor to determine if the coin is dead. What really determines the state of a coin whether its dead or alive is the market volume within 24 hours. This tells the number of people trading within the 24 hours. A dead coin or a dying coin will have a declining market volume within the 24 hours.

Removing a coin from an exchange cannot entirely destroy the coin especially when it is listed on many exchanges. This can affect it adversely to a certain degree. What can kill a coin is when trading of that coin ceases, thus when crypto uers especially buyers decide not to purchase the coin. This will leave all sell orders hanging and eventually devalue the coin - the death of the coin.

Bitcoin have a lot of times that the price is declining in 24 hours but it did not die. Declining is a common movement of Bitcoin every time since we all know how volatile they are since they are cryptos.

Declining is not the characterization of a dying coin, it may be a sign but the most reason why a coin dies is because of its investors, demand and it's  development. Without investors and users, it is obvious that there will be no demand in that certain coin making it less values and eventually will die. Development because if that certain coin is not maintained, not being taken care of of its developers, nothing will happen to that certain coin and it will not be used continuously by it's users.

as long as that coin has value, meaning not zero, then consider that certain coin not dead yet and still we cannot declare for it as dead because as long as it has value, it has also a chance to rise. but still it depends on their product or project.

volume still exists even though it has dropped dramatically, you are right about resistance and prices don't even move from the last value and will eventually be removed by the exchange market.

I assume this because I see a doge movement that often enters a zero value threshold, but because the volume is high enough, the lowest price is not an important benchmark.

A coin dies not because of its low price. The price of a coin or token may be very small, and it may still be promising. Cryptocurrency dies only when it ceases to be needed and needed by people, and therefore is not in demand. If the trading volume from this cryptocurrency falls, then after a certain time it is deleted by their exchanges.

The price of coin that is falling does not determine it is going to die. The factor that you can consider that it's going to die is when most of the supplies of the coin got hacked and the aftermath is price crash. So you could easily tell even before the price falls when this kind of things happens.

I think it would be helpful to think of Bitcoin as a living organism. It's hard to classify Bitcoin but we know something about behavior and its important signs. As I've pointed out, Bitcoin prices are closely correlated with the number of addresses, hash rates of diggers and number of transactions confirmed. So, how can Bitcoin price return to zero while these factors go in the opposite direction?

For me, if the project is not active anymore that the developers of the project are not active anymore, no more commits on their github repository, just like that and the volume of their project is very low like it's down almost 80% of their ATH. Bitcoin is a bad example in that situation. I say that you could say that a coin is dead when the developer is not active and the community is dead. That's when you can say that a coin will die. You really can't see it in the price because it varies from different project, but trading volume would say that a coin is dead too.

I don't think that can be considered that way, it can only be dead if its network and people are no longer active. If there will be no more investors coming in to join the market. We can be the voice and media to spread good news and introduce bitcoin to others in the simplest way possible as it's quite complicated for someone who has no idea about this technology. Its price is not only the basis because it keeps on moving ups and downs, and if it crashes at times it can potentially recover. We have to be aware that volatility is its normal trend and it's up to us how we manage to deal its nature strategically and creatively inorder to survive and be successful in the field of cryptocurrency.

Totally agree. Prices are not really the basis of considering a dead coin most especially if the coin is volatile which is most of the crypto but I can define a dead coin if no one will ever use it or I mean there is no activity with the specific coin either on trading platforms or exchnages. If OP is referring to Bitcoin, I don't think that is going to happen because even if it's price will reach $.01 there is still a chance that it will be bouncing back to $6,000 due to adoption and community support.

At least that's a reasonable reason mate, when developers are no longer active in spreading and updating their coins, they don't make improvements when the price of their coin goes down, and there isn't any response, it's very likely that the coin will die, because the key of coin to be alive is user trust

What is the price at which a coin is considered dead or when an exchange decides to delist the coin?
Like bitcoin was 20k in jan so if it reaches less than 1k we can consider it dead?

as long there is trade and usage. it will thrive. no matter how small it is.

I think a coin cannot be dead until it is decided by the company or owner/creators of the crypto currency. What you will say on the rise of the price, BTC goes to 20K in very limited time. This rise should be named as ".......". For me it's just investment by the people on particular coin/token. When a currency like BTC, which have gained the trust of the community and is going down sometime due to low investment or more selling, at this point company will take care of the currency so that it cannot be dead.

Bitcoin prices will die when no one has bought and there is no request anymore because when the price of bitcoin is still valuable then it can't be said to be dead.

In volatile prices like cryptocurrency, it cannot determine the death of a coin based on a certain value, and if you determine it based on a certain value and you sell it low, then when the coin increases in value you will regret your decision.

The price of the coin does not determine the life of death of the project it is the users and the developers that determine if it will die.
The price is just a supply vs demand thing and a greed mechanism for people hording to sell higher. The project is more useful if people actual use it and it is becoming better.

We can't consider that bitcoin will dead when it reaches the less 1k price. We all know that bitcoin start for small amount then it develops in every year. And I think it will not happen that bitcoin will go down to what price we have now.

If the coin is under $1000 but still tradeable then we might not consider that coin to be dead. you see there are also coins under $1000 ; coins at 0.0-ish value but still freely moving and has signs of trade-- tat is still alive. but in bitcoin's case diving from $20k to $1k then I still don't consider that coin dead. If it reaches 0.000-ish then we might say that it is over for that coin.

You right. even a 90% drop is not necessarily the end of the coin. if Developers have a good strategy to recover and the coin has a
strong community a comeback is a possible. but don't even hope like this for a small altcoin without potential. they could die anytime

I think the coin is considered dead not about the price, but how the altcoin trading volume.
if no one has bought and sold again in more than 2 weeks then the altcoin has been confirmed dead.

not a good example mate, because bitcoin started to no value so dropping upto below 1k$ is nothing to effect its credibility
The only question that matters is the altcoins, there are lots of them that died alreadynd sime are dying, for me as long as the developer is not leaving the coins, this will stay and will still a capacity to bloom in future

More important than the price of whether a coin dies or not, has investors' interest. As long as people trade a coin, it will exist regardless of whether it costs 1$ or much more. If the coin ceases to be used then it can be said that it is dead.

I think when it falls down almost 100% of its base price and when the community and the team behind it is not supporting it anymore. It's more of a scam cryptocurrency for me just like what happened to the infamous BitConnect.
